The Low Beskids
The Low Beskids are an extremely interesting place. You will not find very high mountains there – after all, its highest mountain, Lackowa, does not rise over the height of 1,000 m. They are sometimes demanding, but they always enchant with the greenness of the woods and the smell of mushrooms. In the valleys, which spread between Beskid peaks, small villages which used to be inhabited by Lemko people are located. These pastoral people, friendly, god-fearing, who created this place, built villages from scratch placing wooden churches in their centres. Lemkos were resettled after the Second World War leaving behind deserted villages, roadside shrines and wooden temples.
The mountains and the heritage of Lemko people add up to the uniqueness of the Low Beskids and Uście Gorlickie
Commune. In the commune, among these mountains full of nature and history, a small resort, Wysowa-Zdrój, is located. At the place the pace of life is very slow but there is no shortage of attractions. Health visitors stay in the area to undergo various treatments, rest and take advantage of beneficial climate and mineral waters. Trekking and cycling enthusiasts flock there to explore trails, fans of wooden architecture gather to visit Orthodox churches, mushroom amateurs come in autumn to take part in the Feast of Red Pine Mushroom and herbalist come in summer to participate in ‘Villages Smelling of Herbs in Lesser Poland’. The amateurs of slow tourism visit the place in every season to cherish the tranquillity of the Low Beskids. Life there flows more slowly, lazily and is dominated by nature.
A special place
Chutor u Grzegorza (Gregory’s Khutor) is ideally integrated into the idyllic landscape of the Low Beskids, created out of love for the region, nature, good food and even better company. The khutor, meaning a settlement, is located on the border between Wysowa-Zdrój, and Blechnarka, a small village, in a very tranquil area perfect
for those who want to get away from it all and breathe in clear, mountain air. Comfortable conditions, a variety of accommodation (a cottage or a yurt), delicious cuisine of mountain people and a rich offer makes it a place worth staying longer to have a special holiday.
The settlement
The whole settlement consists of year-long and seasonal cottages, yurts, a relaxation area and a regional restaurant. It is a green area situated far from the main road through which a mountain river flows – an attraction in itself. In summer we can soak our feet in it and children will definitely splash around it. The place provides its
guests with a number of attractions. The youngest visitors can play in a sandpit or a wooden house. There is plenty of space for having fun. Evenings may be spent at the barbecue or by the fire under the starry sky of the Beskid Sądecki. The settlement provides parking spots as well.
Cottages
Chutor u Grzegorza offers 2- and 3-room all-year and seasonal cottages. From their windows a picturesque view of the mountains spreads. Martynka, Lusia and Stasio are the names of all-year premium cottages which will accommodate 4 guests. They consist of a living room with an entresol which serves as a bedroom, a bathroom and two toilets. A turquoise cottage ‘Hania’ and the black one
‘Iga’ are all-year apartments with an area of 70 m2 which consist of two bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, a living room, a bathroom and a toilet. The house is air-conditioned and has a floor heating. The cottages have terraces with barbecue sets and baskets for …mushrooms. After all, a forest is at a stone’s throw.
A night in a yurt
Khutor is not all about traditional cottages – there are Mongolian yurts where guests can spend their nights. Such a form of accommodation is a great idea for an interesting stay in the Low Beskids. There are two yurts at guests’ disposal – a smaller one with an area of 30 m2 ideal for 2 adults and 2 children and a bigger one with an area of 100 m2 which is used as space for aerobic exercise, yoga and meditation. It can also be used as a venue for family meetings or workshops for children or adults.
The restaurant
The restaurant is the most climatic place in the whole settlement. It is a wooden building which smells heavenly of the dishes prepared there. The menu is inspired by the Caucasian cuisine – the Georgian, Armenian or Azeri one, the cuisine of the people of mountains which is also close to people who live in the Low Beskids. Khutor’s cooks as the host himself are the best in what they do –they will satisfy even the most demanding palates. The menu also includes Polish dishes.
A sauna
Nie tylko chlebem człowiek żyje, ale w Chutorze każdy gość znajdzie coś zarówno dla ciała, jak i dla ducha. W strefie relaksu można zadbać o zdrowie fizyczne i psychiczne korzystając z sauny zewnętrznej, sauny wewnętrznej, jacuzzi, balii, komory solnej, wanny termalnej i pokoju relaksacyjnego przeznaczonego (mini spa) dla 2-12 osób.
