How can we see the human in the divine and the divine in the human? Through images of gods and goddesses, buddhas and bodhisattvas, humans and their environments — whether sculpted centuries ago or photographed recently — the new Asian Art Museum exhibit Divine Bodies invites you to ponder the power of transformation, the possibility of transcendence and the relationship of the body to the cosmos.

The special features performances from the archives by Tony Bennett, the Empire Brass Quintet, Hillary Hahn, Margaret Hamilton, the Mas, Wynton Marsalis and Perlman. The nearly 900 episodes created by Fred Rogers encompass topics that resonate to this day with adults and children alike. The special highlights fan favorites, including a visit with Koko the Gorilla, Big Bird’s appearance in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, and trips to the Crayola Factory and the Radio Flyer Wagon Company. Mister Rogers: It’s You I Like is one of three productions paying tribute to Mister Rogers: the feature film documentary Won’t You Be My Neighbor? recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and is scheduled for theatrical release on June 8, and Tom Hanks just signed on to play Fred Rogers in the biopic You Are My Friend, with production set to start in September.

It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood when Mister Rogers returns to public television! A new one-hour special, Mister Rogers: It’s You I Like, celebrates the late children’s television icon and his show, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, the pioneering PBS series that premiered nationally 50 years ago. Cast members from the groundbreaking series share their personal perspectives and insights in this new retrospective, which pays tribute to television’s longestrunning children’s series — still broadcast on many PBS stations today, including KQED. The program also features interviews with numerous celebrities who have been influenced and inspired by Fred Rogers, a modest man who always said, “I am not a teacher, I simply help children learn.” Michael Keaton, who worked as a stagehand and made appearances on the series in the 1970s, hosts the special. Judd Apatow, Joyce DiDonato, Whoopi Goldberg, Chris Kratt, John Lithgow, Yo-Yo Ma and his son Nicholas Ma, Itzhak Perlman, Sarah Silverman, Esperanza Spalding and Caroll Spinney reveal their favorite memories from Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, and Joe Negri (Handyman

Musicians, artists, writers, actors — everyone’s got a hustle. A 2015 survey from the San Francisco Arts Commission showed that of 600 artists polled, 70 percent had been displaced from their home or studio. As the Bay Area grows less and less unaffordable for artists, KQED Arts asks those who’ve managed to stay: “How do you do it?” Every Thursday in March, KQED Arts will give you an intimate look into the ways artists earn money, from side gigs to grants, and how they make ends meet in the Bay Area. Just in time for tax season, the series will profile local artists including hip-hop producer and cryptocurrency investor 10mTony from San Francisco (pictured above). You’ll never think of the “starving artist” the same way again. kqed.org/arts

An Evening With Lucia Micarelli You may recognize violinist Lucia Micarelli from her role as Annie Tee on the critically acclaimed HBO series Treme, but she’s also known throughout the world as a featured soloist with Josh Groban, Chris Botti, Jethro Tull and others. Micarelli performs with emotional vulnerability and technical wizardry, and her repertoire spans the Great American Songbook, traditional fiddle tunes, classical compositions and contemporary songs, such as Steve Earle’s “This City.” To celebrate her new special, An Evening With Lucia Micarelli, she will make an appearance at the KQED Studios on Monday, March 5, from 8pm to 9:30pm and we’ll have tickets to her upcoming local concert. An Evening With Lucia Micarelli premieres Monday, March 5, at 8pm on KQED 9.

A pilot of KQED Learn took place during the fall 2017 semester with support from schools around the Bay Area. More than 2,400 students and their teachers participated in shaping how KQED developed the service. Adam A., a high school visual and performing arts teacher, said, “This is a platform that provides a way for you to take your students through a step-by-step process to do research on topics that they deem interesting and relevant.” Melissa W., a middle school science teacher, added, “KQED Learn is a site for students to learn to do inquiry around highly engaging topics, and enables them to do this with students from [all] over the United States, so the work is very collaborative.” Funding for KQED Education is provided by the Koret Foundation, David Bulfer and Kelly Pope, the Cisco Foundation, the Silver Giving Foundation, the Stuart Foundation, the John S. and James L. Staying at the forefront of education is central to KQED’s mission. This month, we’re launching KQED Learn — a new educational service to strengthen media-literacy skills among young people — featuring curriculum, media-making resources and professional development for teachers to support students in investigating questions and creating media about their findings. KQED Learn is a safe, collaborative online publishing platform where students learn valuable media literacy skills while engaging with big questions, conducting online research and analyzing media. The platform enables students to discuss their ideas in their own classroom and with other students from around the country, and to make and share media responses with the community. The beta version of KQED Learn will launch on March 14 at the CUE conference in Palm Springs. KQED Learn is among 20 projects sharing a $1 million Knight Prototype Fund award for early-stage media and tools to battle misinformation.

Don’t miss the 15th annual International Ocean Film Festival! The four-day festival runs March 8–11, screening more than 50 ocean-inspired films from around the world at the Cowell Theater in the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture in San Francisco. Widely acknowledged as one of the largest and most diverse ocean film festivals of its kind, this year’s festival kicks off with the award-winning film Kim Swims, the story of San Francisco marathon swimmer Kim Chambers and her pursuit to be the first woman to swim the 30 miles of shark-infested waters from the Farallon Islands to the Golden Gate Bridge. “I hope my journey inspires you to push your own limits to find out what
you’re capable of achieving,” Chambers said of the film. Also, be on the lookout for KQED’s Deep Look short films about pelicans, their death-defying dives and grunion, and their unusual mating habits on the beach. The festival also features opening night and closing night parties, Q&A sessions with filmmakers, a free student program and a student film competition. oceanfilmfest.org KQED Science is supported by the S. In 2015, the Rolling Stones committed to performing the newly reissued album Sticky Fingers in its entirety for the first-time ever. The band chose the intimate Fonda Theatre in Hollywood for the historic event, and shed its arena-rock personas for a bluesy, roots-rollicking performance. The concert features some of the band’s greatest hits including “Brown Sugar” and “Wild Horses.” Rolling Stones: Sticky Fingers at the Fonda Theatre airs Thursday, March 8, at 9:30pm on KQED 9, and Monday, March 12, at 7pm on KQED Plus.

Set in Northeast Britain in the 1960s, inspector George Gently (Martin Shaw) is a grizzled veteran detective at odds with the changes the decade has brought. It’s an age where the lines between the police and criminals have become blurred, when the proliferation of drugs is about to change the face of policing forever, and when Britain's youth stands on the brink of a social and sexual revolution. But Gently has a brilliant track record of sleuthing and he's determined to bring wrongdoers to justice. Inspector George Gently Season 5 premieres Friday, March 23, on KQED Plus.

One of the most important, yet least known activists of our time, Dolores Huerta was an equal partner in founding the first farm workers union with César Chávez. Tirelessly leading the fight for racial and labor justice, Huerta evolved into one of the most defiant feminists of the 20th century. Peter Bratt's film Dolores chronicles Huerta’s life from her childhood in Stockton, California, to her early years with the United Farm Workers, to her role in the feminist movement of the ‘70s, to her continued work as a fearless activist.
