O
Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
This summer is a very special one as we celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary. I remember when I first came to Canada from Ghana on a school trip in 2007. I really had a great experience and said to myself that this is definitely a country where I would like to start a good life. Two years later, I was done high school and looking to pick a country to further my education. I chose Canada again. I have travelled around the country and one thing that is a constant in my experience is the friendliness of the people of this great nation. I am definitely proud to call Canada my new home. Krowd was founded in 2013 here in Canada while I was studying at Carleton University. When I first had the idea, it was not what it is today. The vision for Krowd has grown and evolved into its current success and I give a big thank you to my Creative Director, Manuel Doffou who has been with me from the beginning and helped sharpen the edges. Our readers from all over Canada have played a tremendous part in our success so I would like to say thank you for continuing to read and giving us constant feedback to help us improve and deliver on the content you want. Looking back at how far we have come and how fast we have grown, I must say that this issue was created and curated by the best. To my wonderful team, cheers to yet another successful issue. n the world of beauty, there are four cities that rule the game: New York City, London, Milan and Paris. Every few months, the beauty world has new trends that surprise us. Some of these trends stick around turning into best-selling products with long shelf lives (think of the amount of time you spend getting your contour and highlighter just right), while others just don’t make the cut.
This year we’ve seen some of the most creative trends. Some new, some revived. Unlike the dewy, no-makeup makeup obsession of last year, 2017 has offered us a fun little crop of beauty trends, beginning with M.A.C.’s lollipop lips the intentionally smudged, justsucked-on-a-lollipop lipstick look. Then we saw the fake freckle movement and the holographic, glitter, and unicorn obsessions that have made their way into vanities across the globe. Maybe it’s something about the sunshine that brings a twinkle to our eyes, but we’re into the idea of adding more sparkle to our look. Whether it’s your lids, corners or lower lash line, a little dust of glitter can bring your beauty look up major levels. Beauty lovers, don’t you dare limit your sparkles use to the eyes. Lips covered in glitter are also in this season and we have one woman to thank for that Pat Magrath (who is Pat and why is she important?). While it’s unclear how long these trends will stick around (some of them don’t last longer than two weeks), there’s no denying that there’s something incredibly mesmerizing about them.
