Not only has it developed a reputation for high quality but also the great cross-section of the entire Simmental breed, or should I say, full “Spectrum” it annually offers. The breeds diversity really allows for cross-breeding simply within itself and this allows for anyone to do all their bull shopping at this sale!

The Virginia Ranch Bull Pen is highly sought after every year, which is ok, as the depth of options are many. The Fullblood sire groups of Marquee, Banker, Crude & Gudas are amazingly structured pen-mates. They are constantly screened for soundness and of course they are bred for good haircoats and thickness with a modern genetic makeup. This year’s Bulls have as much “look” to them as I’ve ever seen, we have to give Marquee a lot of credit for this but only adds to the quality in the Banker, Crude & Gudas brothers. Also look for a real big topped black bull that is very deep sided and needs a good look if you’re black bull shopping this year. The Clark Family’s Bar CL has gained a solid ground of repeat buyers and we thank you on their behalf. Much like the Virginia Ranch program they have put a lot of emphasis on the herdbull battery. In essence this year’s Bar CL bulls are by two sire groups: Skor’s Challenger and Skor’s Discovery! That adds some attraction! From Tymarc, as usual will be an incredibly sound set of Red Simmental Bulls. Interestingly enough, there is a direct son of “Zima” included! Of course Zima only adds to the soundness of a bull-pen, not to mention all the other great things he offered to Red Simmental as he may have been the best foundation sire ever! Quite often, once people have had a Tymarc Bull, they come back for more, they work & they last! Clearwater Simmentals have a very, very consistent set of “Duke” brothers to sell. These bulls are sound, fresh and very quiet. Lots of methodical, proven pedigree behind these cattle. The Wolfe Fleckvieh bulls also attain a lot of great pedigrees through the well proven cow families behind their bulls. This is probably the most uniform set of bulls ever offered by the Wolfe’s.

Full Fleckvieh Gibson is a bull to be desired for many reasons. He’s dark, hairy, docile and a true herdsire. He is really deep and soggy made. Last year in the Spectrum Bull Sale, his maternal brother sold for $14,000 to Brian and Marty Miller of Okotoks. Talking to Brian, he was very happy with the bull and stated how the bull had really grown out nicely. He has built in calving ease with Marquee and Imax in his pedigree.

Polled Full Fleckvieh Chipewa’s sire BEE Battle Cry is becoming a well renowned bull. He has been a proven calving ease specialist, and his offspring still have growth and development. They are in high demand and have been high sellers at the Round-Up Sale in Stavely, AB every December for past couple years. This past December a BEE Battle Cry bull topped that sale out of 100 head of cattle to sell that day. Last year, two bred heifers and a bull topped the sale. A son sold in Manitoba last spring for $65,000. Chipewa is named after his Grand-mother who was one of our top cows for many years. Chipewa is going to be a terrific heifer bull, he’s smooth polled, smooth shouldered and has a very nice small head, with lots of chrome and is not too big of bone. I think its heifer bull time! The bulls are fed grass hay and Country Junction pellets. This year, they spent a lot more time after weaning on a 20-acre pasture due to the bedding piles not getting moved until after freeze up. Another favourite cow that has been a constant producer. Stay ability is one of the newer EPDs and is an indication of how long a cow will be in the herd. Gold Ticket and his dam are in the top 15% for stay EPD. She is a T cow that is still in perfect shape. Gold Ticket is a very moderate package but has a tremendous look to him and some performance.

Gunner’s sire, Black Joker is a real cow maker. With limited semen available on him I have used him on some select cows. The plan was to get a replacement female, although it didn’t work out. I think the second option, a bull, worked out great. Gunner should leave some great daughters.

Out of the great NCB Cobra bull, Throttle has a lot to offer. Very quiet disposition and has been the heaviest at each weighing. Great set of numbers, hair and really walks out.

SKORS DISCOVERY 113D SONS Our walking herd sire has worked out like I had hoped. He was the lead off and high sell black bull for Skors in 2017. I do think EPDs are important and will become even more so in the future. How important? I like to be balanced to 1/3 EPD, 1/3 Pedigree but the last 1/3 Phenotype, usually casts the deciding vote. This guy has all 3 going for him. His EPDs are outstanding: Top 5% in 5 and Top 30% 3 more; he is a curve bender.

Gotcha is anther bull that should work on heifers. 86lb birth weight and top 3% for calving ease. He doesn’t give up anything on growth with a 940lb weaning weight. His dam is very moderate cow that weans a calf 75% of her weight. This year we have saved up a couple of nice big 2 yr old bulls, both out of our awesome Circle G Simmentals Herd sire “Denver”. Denver was the high selling Simmental bull of Garth Cuttlers bull sale and we have been so happy with what he has done here for us. Fletcher, is out of a Red blaze faced “U” cow that goes back to our flush cow “ Eagle Ridge Maria 5M”. Fletcher is as quiet as a kitten, one of Denver’s great qualities. With a decent set of EPDs both maternally and performance related, we think Fletcher will make an excellent walking herd sire. He has great feet, length of spine, and natural thickness, dark red colour, and docile temperament. Use him on a few more cow as he has the extra age and size to cover more females. Fabio is very similar to Fletcher. He maybe has just a bit more thickness to him and his EPDs indicate he is a bit easier calving as well as great performance. He too is very docile and nice to handle. Fabio’s dam is a great Enticer cow with lots of volume to her, she raises one of the best calves of the purebred herd every year. Some real greats in Fabio’s pedigree include R Plus Venom, NCB Cobra, Hooks Shear force, MRL Red Force, SHS Enticer, TNT Gunner, and Lchmn Bodybuilder. Fabio will cover more cows and could be considered to be used in the heifer pen, as we have used his sire Denver on heifers with absolutely trouble free calving.

Eagle Ridge Grady is a nice calving ease bull out of nice big LFE Bombshell cow. We used MR. Westway 16A, AKA “Andi”, as a calving ease bull for many years, Grady is one of the last bulls that will be available out of Andi, as we had to sell him due to keeping so many of his female offspring. Grady would work in the heifer pen or on the mature cows too. I like his depth of rib, length of spine, sound feet, and quiet temperament.

Giovanni is, I think by far the most eye-catching bull of the purebred offering this year. Some real performance in his EPDs. We purchased a new bull from Harvie Ranching (Harvie Powerball 10E) and have been pleased with the calves out of him. The dam, Eagle Ridge Ashley 3A is one of our best black baldie cows. Use Giovanni on cows to get some nice thick, fast growing calves with real eye appeal and the famous and so sought-after money strip. The females out of him should be powerful nice looking females you will want to keep. 27

Another great yearling bull out of Circle G Denver, and a good cow of ours that goes back to the oldest and possibly the best Red cow we have, Eagle Ridge Tallie 7T is 14 years old and still going strong. Gentry is an embryo transplant calf from some embryos we bought. He is a good calf out of some pretty famous Wheatland and Springcreek breeding. Gentry has good feet/ legs and walks out real nice. Gambler is sired by our APLX Waylon bull, who we used for calving ease along with some polled genetics. We have been real happy with Waylon’s offspring and think that Gambler is a real nice example of what we think a calving ease bull should look like. Gordon is a nice coloured up bull calf out of Bee Primo and our 5A cow that has TTU Canyon and Virginia ranch breeding in her. This is our 7th year in this sale and we would like to sincerely thank all of our previous bidders and buyers who have supported us. We are pleased to offer up four sons sired by Duke, as well introduce our home raised sire Leo, who has two sons on offer. We are always trying to improve on our offering and appreciate the feedback we have received over the years. This year we decided to try a new approach to developing our bulls. With our ample grass supply we decided to bump our weaning back by three weeks to September 13. As always, our bulls are raised from birth to weaning on strictly their mother’s milk and the forage in front of them, you’ll never see a creep feeder in our pastures. Once the bulls were weaned, they were placed directly back out onto grass for one month and were fed 3lbs of Co-op 14% Bull Ration by hand. We then penned our bulls and fed them straight grass hay and the same 3lbs of pellets daily until December. Starting in December they were moved to a TMR ration consisting of oat/barley silage, mixed hay and 3lbs of pellets, the same ration we develop our heifers on. We then bumped our bulls up to 6lbs of pellets. Starting after Christmas we slowly increased to 12lbs of pellets fed by hand daily, bringing their total daily intake of pellets to 15lbs per day for January 2. This is where they will stay until sale time. You will see that our yearling weights are down a bit from previous years, we however feel our bulls look better then any we have ever offered up before. We are confident that these bulls have been raised to last and look forward to your appraisal.

Ranger and Warden are brothers by blood and are sure to catch your eye on sale day. These two certainly have some fantastic mothers who worked hard all summer to get their weaning weights up and they have gained well from there. We are very pleased with the development of these bulls under our new feeding program. They are not lacking in red meat and muscle. We are calving out our first heifers sired by Duke and are extremely pleased with what he has brought into our program. He is smooth made and has an excellent stride to get out and cover your cows in any terrain. This years bulls represent both the stability of our program with some added variety as well. We are using Des Batallion (AKA Strut) as our walking herd bull and Primary sire as we feel he compliments the herd with added natural muscle and hair. We are counting on our Badger and Skors Cinch daughters to hold up their end by instilling their calving ease, soundness,level temperament and milk production into the future generations. TERMS & CONDITIONS TERMS - The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should any purchaser fail to settle for his purchase Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves full power to resell the animal to the best advantage either publicly or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. BID - Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction. No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder.

SALES TAXES – Applicable sales taxes will be charged on semen, embryos and trucking fees (if listed), respective to the home province of the buyer, not the seller. DISPUTES - In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final. PURCHASER’S RISK - Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time.

INFORMATION SUPPLIED - The information contained in this catalogue is believed to be true and accurate. However, the information has been supplied by the seller and neither Transcon Livestock Corp. or Keltey Whelan Designs assume any responsibility if the information supplied is not accurate. ANNOUNCEMENTS from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY - A registration/recordation certificate issued by the applicable breed association and duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer of each animal after settlement has been made. It is the responsibility of the buyer to determine the acceptance of this certificate in any other association. SHIPPING - Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale but no risk is assumed by the Sales Management or Seller. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Purchasers are requested to furnish shipping instructions when making settlement.

BREEDER’S GUARANTEE - As per applicable Canadian Breed Association Breeding Guarantee guidelines. Copies are available at the sale settlement desk to be picked up by the buyer at any time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for reimbursing more than the purchase price.

EXCEPTION TO GUARANTEE - In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void.

HEALTH - It is the buyer’s responsibility to determine health requirements for importing any animal into his province or state. Transcon Livestock Corp. assumes no responsibility for the health status of any animal in the sale. ACCIDENTS - Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sales Management, auctioneer, consignors or Association assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property.

RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS - The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale.

TRANSCON LIVESTOCK CORP. IS AGENT ONLY - It is to be clearly understood that Transcon Livestock Corp. is only acting as a medium between buyer and seller and is not in any way responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations, neither does Transcon Livestock Corp. assume any financial obligations to collect or enforce collection of any monies between parties, and any legal action that may, in exceptional cases, be taken, must be between buyer and seller. The Auctioneer shall have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment or who has not made proper credit clearance prior to the sale with the owner or Sale Managers.
