Welcome to the 3rd Annual Transcon’s Next Step Bull Sale. This annual event is hosted in the heart of cattle country at Thorsby Stockyards Inc, one of central Albertas finest markets! This years sale will be broadcast live on “Transcon Online “ to give people the opportunity to bid from home. I encourage everyone buying online to make time to talk to the breeders or a Transcon representative to be sure you are purchasing the product you are in need of. If it’s easier for you please take the time to view the bulls on farm as well. This is extremely important to ensure purchasing your next Herdsire online is a positive experience. This years offering is the strongest to date. Reds, blacks, horned FBs or polled FBs, there is certainly high quality bulls in each segment. There is also a good number of heifer bull prospects in this group. This sale isn’t big on numbers but it is on quality so it’s certainly worth a good look! This year we are offering 10 polled and 2 horned bulls all from top herd sires that we purchased exclusive semen packages on in order to incorporate their genetics into our program. The boys all look great and should work very well for their new owners. We do hope you can find the time to make it to Thorsby to view the bulls and take in the sale. LOT 1 Polled 100% Full Fleckvieh • Non Dilutor Once again we bought an exclusive semen package on Fairview Philosophy. A very well pigmented homo polled bull that has caught the attention of some very reputable breeders across Canada. He stamps the majority of his progeny with excellent pigmentation just like himself and also a multi-purpose bull that can be used on cows and in the heifer pen. We choose to breed some of our brood cows to him and are extremely happy with the results. Innovation has matured into an impressive young herd sire. He is wide topped with lots of body capacity, loose made, soggy, big quartered with an awesome thick dark red hair coat. He will genetically be an outcross to most herds. His mother is an excellent well balanced easy keeping cow so Innovation should leave you with some really good females for the keeper pen and some big meaty, easy fleshing sons. Also except him to be quite consistent on adding good pigmentation to his progeny while leaving his fair share of them polled.

100% Full Fleckvieh • Non Dilutor • Homo Polled I think we discussed the pigmentation factor already that seems to accompany Fairview Philosophy progeny but it was taken to another level with Discovery but along with that he also comes equipped with the fact that all his calves will come polled. He will most certainly help in adding hair to his progeny. A little extra frame with tons of middle throughout with adequate hind quarter and good thickness best describes Discovery. His mother comes from one of our long running cow families and Anchor D Maroon whose daughters were so well received. I believe Discovery could have a big impact on his new owners program.

Dark Brown double goggled, lots of hair, moderate frame, a moderate birth weight, round at the hip with good thickness, very deep body throughout and a pleasure to work with. His mother is a very well put together young cow that really produces and has already added 2 beautiful females to our herd and Arsenal is proof that she can do an equally good job raising bulls. I expect with this young polled herd sires family tree that he will help create some very productive females and a group of steers to be proud of.

Polled 100% Full Fleckvieh Where to start with Sunrise, he is yellow, I don’t know why. If the dark cherry red hair coat is not a high priority in your bull selections then Sunrise would be a good one for your consideration. He is polled, structurally correct, smooth made, good feet with lots of body capacity. Right now he fits in very well with the rest of the pen but I do suspect he has a lot of growing left to do and will end up a larger framed bull. His dam was purchased from Double Bar D as a heifer calf and has turned into a sharp looking cow who is dark cherry red with big goggles and very easy keeping. She is a higher frame score than most of our herd but so deep in the body you hardly notice. She brightens up our pastures and has been a very good addition to our herd.

Polled 100% Full Fleckvieh Non Dilutor This is the first year for the $58,000 Homo Polled JNR Cashmere bull calves and we are really pleased with the whole group. “Mighty Moe” is definitely a bull that needs to be featured with his really dark red beautiful full hair coat, extra length, nice hip and thickness, smooth shoulders, small head and walk out great on solid big feet all in a very stylish smooth polled package. His mother is hard not to notice around here. She always looks good and does an amazing job with her calves. Homo Polled • Non Dilutor Black Gold Approval was the $40.000 high selling Red Purebred bull purchased by Ultra Livestock and Hay Valley Ranches from Black Gold Simmentals a few years back. When some small packages of semen were offered for sale we grabbed onto some and sure glad we did. I believe Spotlight is something special. He is stouter made bull with lots of rib shape, showing really nice muscle expression, wide topline, really soggy hided with a great hair coat and disposition. He will add some calving ease but also leave you with growth come weaning time. His mother was a very easy keeping, mild tempered cow with good feet and udder. She came up open last fall so we decided to let the old girl go but she sure left a tank of a calf behind to carry on her legacy. Spotlight will be well worth considering for your next herdsire.

He is a bull that we thought would work really well in our program and Neutral Zone is a good example of what his influence will bring to the table. Moderate in both frame and birth weight, well pigmented , really deep through the flank and throughout, smooth shoulders, walks out really well, good thickness and probably the pet of the pen. His dam is a great little cow that weans off her calves near the top of the herd every year and looks great doing it. She has good feet, a flawless udder and well pigmented. Her progeny is no stranger to this sale as she also raised one of our high selling bulls last year going to B Bar C Simmentals in Bowden. A very high-quality bull here in Neutral Zone.

He has built in calving ease on the bottom side of his pedigree and Balboa has been used successfully on heifers over the years. His mother is an Anchor D Maroon daughter who has left us with some amazing females in the herd. Tucker is stouter made with smooth shoulders, nice neck extension with a good hip, a small head and easy to work with. Tucker will make a nice addition to your bull battery.

His dam is my favorite Full Fleck cow, with a good udder, feet and great disposition. This bull will put the pounds on your calves. I feel he could be used on cows and heifers, he has very smooth front shoulders. He weaned off the cow on Sept. 8 at 968 pounds, being the 2nd heaviest calf at weaning.

He is the pet of the group but honestly, the disposition on the Caption Morgan & Mumbo combination is something we really love; quiet, and easy to work with! Hoarfrost possesses a little more frame than his flush mates. All 3 of these brothers are Hetero black which makes them very versatile on the color of cows you can use them on! You can get red or black progeny out of them. I don’t think we’ve ever had a sire group as consistently stout as the Captain Morgan’s we have this year!

Rose is Horatio’s momma, who we were lucky enough to obtain from Beagles at their dispersal. This black 2-year-old bull is heavy muscled, smooth made, with a gentle disposition that I believe checks off all the boxes. His dam was heavy milking that always weaned off a good one. I used him last year in the heifer pen and he was an exceptional breeder. I have had a couple calves so far with no troubles and great vigor, and I will have a handful more before the sale. Having the extra age, he should be able to go out and cover a lot of cows. His maternal brother is 98H (Lot 45).

This liver red bull is big framed and is out of the proven heifer bull, Red Summit. He came out easy, with excellent vigor. His 2-year-old dam has a beautiful udder and did an awesome job on him. He will be one of the younger calves in the sale but won’t give up much performance for his age. His mother is a heavy milking cow that always weaned a big one. His maternal brother is my lead off 2-year-old bull, 98G. I believe this calf will also follow in his footsteps and mark his progeny with a blaze face.

TERMS & CONDITIONS TERMS The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should any purchaser fail to settle for his purchase Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves full power to resell the animal to the best advantage either publicly or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released.

SHIPPING Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale but no risk is assumed by the Sales Management or Seller. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Purchasers are requested to furnish shipping instructions when making settlement.

BID Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction. No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No bybidding will be permitted. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder.

EXCEPTION TO GUARANTEE In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void.

SALES TAXES Applicable sales taxes will be charged on semen, embryos and trucking fees (if listed), respective to the home province of the buyer, not the seller. DISPUTES In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final. PURCHASER’S RISK Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. INFORMATION SUPPLIED The information contained in this catalogue is believed to be true and accurate. However, the information has been supplied by the seller and neither Transcon Livestock Corp. or Keltey Whelan Designs assume any responsibility if the information supplied is not accurate. ANNOUNCEMENTS from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements. On behalf of myself and my family I welcome you to the third annual Next Step Bull Sale. Thank you to all the people who have shown interest in and supported our program in the past. As we continue to build our Fleckvieh herd our consignment numbers have been minimal. However, the offering we present is a good representation of what we have been striving to build on. Our bulls have been grown out slowly on a higher forage based diet and pail fed throughout the winter to measure intakes and to ensure that by the time pasture season comes they will be ready to breed and built for longevity. They have been tested for the dilutor gene and they have all tested dilutor free. I would welcome, and highly recommend to anyone who is interested to come see the bulls beforehand. If you are unable to make the sale don’t hesitate to contact any of the members of the Transcon team for an unbiased evaluation of our offering.

LOT 46 Brute is a fitting name for this big soggy built bull. He has been a standout since birth and a top performer of our 2020 calf crop. I can’t say enough about the mother of this bull. She is one of those cows you wish you had more of, as her calves seem to always rise to the top.
