GRADUATE

SUCCESS STORIES

Some of our graduates tell us their highlights and achievements as they reflect on their time at York St John University. I am a traditional artist and illustrator, and my work is inspired Yorkshire. I’ve developed my pieces into an extensive range of items, which are available in a growing number of independent stockists and galleries across the UK. I left York St John University as a confident, well-rounded individual, able to jump straight into working for myself and running my small creative business full time. York St John supported me to get there with the help of the wonderful teams and amazing illustration lecturers, as well as the general support from everyone across the University. Volunteering with Converge shaped my 3 years as a student, and now I work for them as their Office Coordinator. I’m responsible for overseeing the administration of Converge, and coordinating their programme of courses. I always knew that I wanted to do something that felt meaningful. For me, Converge goes beyond that. Every day I’m inspired by colleagues, tutors and students. I feel so lucky to be in a career that I love. Holly | Drama: Education and Community

Find out more about Converge on page 40.

I am the Founder and Creative Director at Orillo films. Orillo was created by 4 graduates of York St John University. We have become a globally recognised production company, with offices in York and London. We pride ourselves on the highly diverse range of clients that take us around the world. We are looking to grow Orillo to have a firm hold in the commercial film world while expanding our short film and feature film portfolio. York St John gave me the foundations to understand the industry and the kit. It also surrounded me with people that loved working in the same industry as me. My advice would be to make the most of every opportunity, even if it takes you out your comfort zone. Keenan | Film and Television Production 15
