A recent definition of internationalization of HE “The intentional process of integrating an international, intercultural or global dimension into the purpose, functions and delivery of post-secondary education, in order to enhance the quality of education and research for all students and staff, and to make a meaningful contribution to society.” (de Wit, Hunter, Egron-Polak, Howard 2015) © IAU November 2016

Purpose of Internationalization

Internationalization must be viewed as a way to enhance the quality of education and research and their service to society, NOT as a goal in itself. How can IAU help achieve this?  Contexts and needs are different  There is no “one size fits all” model or approach for internationalization  All HEIs can benefit from the best thinking and good practice from other institutions around the world
