Lac La Biche County FCSS Young Family Connections

Lac La Biche County FCSS - Young Family Connections provides programs and services for families and caregivers in the areas of family support, early learning and care, parent education and information and referral. Our goal is to provide parents and caregivers with the knowledge, skills, resources and confidence necessary to meet the unique needs of their children and family. Our Services: » Information for parents on child development ages 0 to 18; » Opportunities to connect with other parents and families; » Drop–in times for structured and unstructured play (always parent-supervised); » Programs that encourage your child to move, play, and sing; » Links to other helpful community resources; and » Well-trained staff ready to discuss your parenting challenge of the moment. Family Resources AGES AND STAGES QUESTIONNAIRE As a parent or caregiver, you are the best source of information about your child. That’s why the Ages & Stages Questionnaire (ASQ) and Ages & Stages Questionnaire: Social-Emotional (ASQ: SE) are designed to be filled out by you! These documents help you identify your child’s strengths, along with any areas where they may need support, including:

TALK BOX Children learn language every day, and both parents and caregivers play an especially important role in children’s speech development. Our Talk Box resources can help you teach and encourage your children to develop solid language skills. Talk Box was created by speech language professionals. It includes tips, information about what to expect in terms of speech and language development, and guidance on when and where to get help. These resources are for both preschool-aged (birth to 5 years) and school-aged (5 to 12 years). You will find introductory information, checklists, guides, and ideas for educational activities.

Triple P Parenting can be challenging! Triple P is a positive parenting program, but it doesn’t tell you how to be a parent. Its a toolbox of ideas. You choose the strategies you need!
