ABOUT SILA
The Singapore Institute of Landscape Architects (SILA) is a non-profit organization representing the landscape architectural profession in Singapore. It was established in 1985 with the objectives to promote the profession of landscape architecture, support research and education in landscape architecture, as well as create and maintain a high standard of professional qualification.
ABOUT THE AWARDS
Under SILA’s key thrust, we welcome initiatives and collaborations with tertiary institutions, and work closely with them to continuously advance the learning and practice of landscape architecture. SILA believes in continuous learning and innovation. We believe in providing educational support to grow our profession and nurture the future leaders of our profession. The theme ‘Beyond Just Green’ epitomizes the intellectual rigor of the profession, inspiring creative design solutions within parameters determined by research and analysis. It aims to create awareness that landscape architecture goes beyond the ‘green’ norms of designing with plants and gardens.
The Singapore Institute of Landscape Architects held the 2015 Student Design Awards Ceremony on 17 September 2015 at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Campus 1, Singapore.
SILA PRESIDENT’S FOREWORD This 2015 edition is the sixth run of the Singapore Institute of Landscape Architects (SILA) Student Design Awards. The institute views this event both a student design competition as well as a platform for the professional organization to touch base with the educational institutes where future generations of Landscape Architects are nurtured. For this year’s awards, we are heartened and encouraged to receive a total of 51 entries from 18 universities and polytechnics from 11 countries namely Canada, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, India, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Thailand and the United States. We hope that the event can continue to grow and reach out to more institutions with more entries in the future. We would also like to thank our sponsors for supporting the event, playing their part to grow the future of the profession, as well as thank the jury panel members Ms Helen Smith-Yeo, Ms Karen Tham and Mr Jason Wright for judging the awards. SILA congratulates all the winners and participants for the very high standard of work showcased.

Capitol Singapore,
Land Design One is a landscape architectural practice established in Singapore and the Philippines to provide services locally as well as to all of Asia and surrounding regions. The firm brings together the internationally diverse experience of its partners as well as a skilled technical team to provide personal service and leading-edge design to a sophisticated clientele.
We practice with the basic precepts of the landscape architecture profession as our foundation, including environmental stewardship, the creation of liveable communities, and cultivation of the natural link between people and the land.
Working alongside architects, engineers, and planners, we refrain from imposing or repeating a signature style on projects; instead, we aim for a creative and unique solution to each assignment. Our designers respond to the individual site, client, and users, understanding that through its very nature as open space, at the end of the day the landscape knows no boundaries and is that part of the built environment experienced and shared by everyone.
