rtists from all over the country will come to Lake of the Ozarks in August for the second annual LOZ En Plein Air Art Festival. You’ll have the chance to see them complete works of art in real time at designated spots across the Lake area. The festival provides artists with the opportunity to expand their markets, enhance their skills, receive recognition for their creations and to experience Lake of the Ozarks. The public is invited to observe the art unfold each day at events hosted by local businesses and at other locations around the Lake. Artists will be set up at these locations Aug. 8-12 from 6:30-11 a.m. and 4:30-8 p.m. rotating to different sites throughout the week. Artists are welcome to register on Sunday, Aug. 7. Registration is $100. A map of all locations and more information is available at www.lozvisualarts.org. An artistic event for children will be held on Wednesday from 7 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Lake Fine Art Academy & Galleria on the Bagnell Dam Strip, ending at Wilmore Lodge. More than $10,000 in prizes will be awarded featuring works in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and pastel. An exhibit where artwork will be available for sale will be held Aug. 13 at the Lodge of Four Seasons Granada Hall A. Hors d’oeuvres will be served. The awards ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. The festival is organized by the non-profit LOZ Visual Arts Organization. According to president Dr. Paula Brown, the goal is to raise money to complete and install sculptures on several highway roundabouts in the Lake Ozark and Osage Beach area. Brown, who also owns the Lake Fine Art Galleria in Lake Ozark, has been spearheading the LOZ En Plein Air Art Festival with the help of committee members: Bill Wood, vice president; Susan Niece McKinney, secretary; Sasha Whittle, treasurer; Julia Barton, member; Carolyn Davinroy, member.
