MANAGER'S MESSAGE Dean Lytton COO/General Manager Dear Members, I'm honored to be starting my new position as COO/General Manager for Lake Quivira Country Club and Quivira, Inc. I want to personally thank the Board Members and our Staff for welcoming me and making my transition a success as I get started. I also want to thank the few members that I’ve met for the warm welcome - I’m looking forward to getting to know so many more of you in the coming weeks and months. On a personal note, my family and I spent our entire lives in the Kansas City area and we are thrilled to be back in KC after spending 8 years in NW Indiana just outside Chicago. My oldest son will remain in Indiana starting his Junior year at Ball State, while my daughter and youngest son will relocate with us back to KC. My daughter will attend KU in the fall and my son will begin his sophomore year in a high school yet to be determined. We all look forward to being a part of the Lake Quivira community for years to come.

Professionally, my career in golf and hospitality started at Falcon Ridge Golf Course over 18 years ago with KemperSports Management. I have served as General Manager for both Falcon Ridge here in Lenexa and Harborside International in Chicago. While in Chicago with KemperSports, I became Regional Operations Executive and eventually Vice President of Operations with oversight over several courses in the Great Lakes Region including private clubs, high-end daily fee, resort courses, municipal courses, food & beverage operations, and fitness. My clients included Board of Directors, city council members, Mayors, Fortune 100 CEOs, and private ownership groups. I look forward to bringing my knowledge and leadership to our members and our staff providing a consistent experience focusing on service, culture, and fiscal responsibility. As with any new position, it will take some time to get up to speed, but I’ll do my best to make myself available to members and again, I look forward to getting to know you all. See you in the Community!

GOLF COURSE
Brad Lackey Grounds Manager & Course Superintendent As I sit down to write this, I am trying to remind myself that it is still June and not July or August yet! What a month it has been so far. As of June 23rd, the new driving range teaching facility has power! This has been the largest hurdle that has taken place for this project. Now to build some furniture, hang some technology and some other small details and it will be opened soon to the membership. Hope everyone enjoys it. The Golf Maintenance and Horticulture Team have been hard at work finishing up the beautification of the Community Center grounds as well. Fescue sod was placed, right before it was 90 degrees for 10 days, and all the colorful trees, shrubs and flowers are planted. Last on our list will be to place rock all along the north side of the building and to address some tree screenage on the west side to help block the view of the air conditioning duct work. The grassing on the west
16
side of the building will be seeded and straw matted until a proper over seeding takes place in the fall when the cooler temps will benefit. The golf course took a little jab to the chin when the great spring weather turned into the sudden summer scorching heat. The zoysia appreciated the heat while the greens and rough decided that they missed the rain and 50 degree nights. The irrigation system works a little harder this time of year while we continuously dial it in more and more each day to combat our rocky, clay sub surfaces that are present around the Quivira property. We please ask that you are patient and understanding when you see team members syringing greens during the afternoon hours. In the upcoming weeks, the team will be performing our yearly zoysia aerification, needle tinning greens and continuing to spot in some zoysia sodding around the course. We are utilizing some sod from an area on #7 that we will replace with fescue after we are completed. I hope everyone had a fantastic Father’s Day and plan on a great Fourth of July again at the Lake.

RACQUETS
Graham Battle Racquets Sports Director June has been an extremely busy month at the racquet’s facility. With play at an all-time high court time has been at a
premium. If you are planning to play any racquet sport, please make sure that you have a court reserved through our online court reservation system. This summer the LQ Racquets program has started several in house leagues to get players out on the courts. We have Ladies Tennis, Men’s Tennis, Adult Pickleball, and Jr Tennis Leagues playing weekly that are filling up the courts. If you are interested in playing in one of our leagues please contact Graham Battle at gbattle@lakequivira.org.
Summer clinics have been a big hit this year with members wanting to get out of the house and enjoy the beautiful weather. Adult and Junior clinics are reaching max capacity so please RSVP to each clinic you would like to attend this summer. Clinic RSVPs can be made through the LQ app on your smartphone or by contact Graham Battle. We are hoping that our June momentum carries over into July so if you have ever thought about getting out on the courts for the first time to try pickleball or tennis now is a great time to start! As always if you have any questions please feel free to contact me. I hope to see you all on the courts soon!

COMMUNITY CENTER Derrick Wilde Community Center Manager We’re excited for the opening of The Q! It was great to see such a huge turnout of our members at the Home Opener earlier this month!
Your new Community Center will have something for everyone, whether that be enjoying a cup of coffee, catching up with friends, sweating on the cardio equipment, pumping iron, joining a group exercise class, swimming some laps, and much much more!

COMMUNITY NEWS Erin Leckey City Administrator / Treasurer
2020 Census As your City Administrator for the last three years and your Treasurer for the last eight years, I often rely on our collective voice in the work I do for the City of Lake Quivira. Now I am asking for your help to be sure we are heard loud and clear. Every 10 years, the U.S. Census Bureau counts everyone who lives in the United States. Responding to the 2020 Census gives everyone in our community the opportunity to help shape our future. The U.S. Constitution mandates the census and it is our responsibility to respond. A complete and accurate count determines our representation in Topeka and in the U.S. House of Representatives. It's success depends on our full participation. What you may not realize is the 2020 Census will help ensure we get our share of federal and state funding for programs critical to our community. This includes funding for hospitals, roads and bridges, schools and programs like Head Start, free or reduced-priced school lunches, and services specifically aimed at rural areas. This is more important than ever as we continue to work through the COVID-19 pandemic. So far, 70% of the households in Lake Quivira have responded to the 2020 Census, which is AMAZING but we need to count everyone. You can fill out the census online at www.my2020census.gov, by calling 1844-330-2020 or by mail. I urge everyone to respond to the 2020 Census. Be sure to remind your neighbors and friends to respond, too. Everyone’s response – and voice – matters! Thank you so much!

COMMUNITY NEWS Brady Lilja Mayor
I have always considered the 4th of July the best day of the year at Lake Quivira because it is so much fun and always community oriented. Due to the unique situation presented by COVID-19 and the unusually high number of visitors this summer has already shown, we are doing things differently over the 4th of July holiday weekend. Please take a moment to sit down as a family and discuss the changes in our upcoming 4th of July celebration. We NEED everyone on board so we can keep Lake Quivira as safe as possible. These changes should be in effect from Friday, July 3 through Sunday, July 5. Here is what we need to do: Family Guests Only- This year 4th of July is all about family. Please consider this and/or limit outside guests to a minimum for the entire weekend. ALL outside guests must be accompanied by a member. Fun Run- This annual event will begin at the Clubhouse at 7:30am. Different Parade Route- Our annual parade will feature a different route to allow for social distancing. Parade participants will gather at East Side Park at 9:30am on July 4th. The parade will begin at 9:45am and proceed in a counterclockwise direction around the lake. I ask that you greet parade participants along Lakeshore from your home or dock and do not distribute candy to spectators. No Beach Games- Unfortunately, this unique event will be cancelled this year but I look forward to its return next year. Road Closure and Parking- The road across the dam will close at 10:30am. Please encourage all guests to park at members homes and shuttle by golf cart or walk to docks. Please park vehicles on only one side of the street. It is never okay to block access through the road or to a residence. This could be a major safety issue if the need for emergency vehicles were required. CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE...

COMMUNITY NEWS Brady Lilja Mayor
Noise- Be mindful and respectful of everyone’s right to celebrate in their own style. Please don’t inflict your music or loud noises on others in the community. Social Distancing at the Beach- Keep in mind the need to be socially distant when relaxing at the beach. To limit the crowd, I request that you consider swimming at your dock instead and limit the number of guests this year. I would also encourage families to watch the fireworks together at their dock or on a boat. No Individual Fireworks- This is not a change. Lake Quivira prohibits the individual use of fireworks and this will be enforced. Be Attentive- Help others in the community stay safe. Address unsafe conditions. Point out safety concerns/issues to others or contact the Lake Quivira Police if you have concerns. Here is what you can expect from Lake Quivira: Lake Quivira Police Officers- Our police force will be working extended hours over the holiday weekend. There will be additional officers working during the weekend in patrol cars and the ATV. Additional Security- Q, Inc. will also have additional security patrolling the roadways and beach to ensure we are staying safe and to assist members. Additional Front Gate Staff- Qi, Inc. will have two guards stationed at the gate. Lifeguards- There will be additional lifeguards at the beach during the weekend. Please consider what I am asking for this year. I want this to be a safe and enjoyable weekend and I would appreciate your help in doing so.
