MANAGER'S MESSAGE Dean Lytton COO / General Manager
Dear Members, September brought some operational changes to our management team impacting three key areas of our club - The Q, Back of House Clubhouse Operations, and Course & Grounds. These transitions are never easy, and they have immediate impacts on our day to day operations, our management team, staff, and members. With that said, I am incredibly proud of both our management team and staff who have worked diligently to make these transitions successful. Our staff in The Q, Clubhouse, and Course & Grounds all deserve recognition for their work during these September transitions along with the support from our other staff members who helped out as well. It has truly been a great team effort! On behalf of our team, I would also like to thank our members for their support. During times of transition, it has been a lift for our team to receive the support and encouragement from many of our members throughout the month. Thank you! September also brought momentum in many areas – highlights included: Pre-School and Children’s Day Out program opened on September 23rd. Greens aerification took place and included DryJect procedure as part of our strategy to improve the health of our greens. The LQ Open was a tremendous success with an exciting Derby finale on September 13th Our new Orchard was planted by Garden Club located just south of the Nature Center Beautiful weather has kept our momentum going with golf, tennis, patio dining, and outdoor group fitness We finished off September with a Wine Tasting Patio event on a gorgeous night with great wine and a beautiful lake sunset. We look forward to more member exciting member events in the coming weeks and months!

MEMBERSHIP Lisa Smith Membership & Marketing Director Most of the new members that have joined us over these last few months have told me they realize that being a part of a private club is more valuable now than it has ever been. Golf has seen an upsurge with many young members, and we are thrilled to see these families choosing Lake Quivira Country Club to be the place they can spend time together and make memories. I'd like you to share Lake Quivira with you friends, family and colleagues. This is your club and we are your support team to keep it safe, healthy and fun. Think about who within your networks you would want to share that time with and encourage them to be part of a wonderful community. Plus, fall is the best time to join a private club, as there is the opportunity to get settled in, know the club, make new friends and get fully immersed when golf season rolls around again!

With crisp leaves and pumpkin spice rapidly approaching, fall is officially here. Fortunately, the weather has provided us with some extra time outside on the Patio and on the Beach. As we transition into more traditional Autumn weather, the clubhouse has lit the fire pit to keep you warm. Come join us on the patio for cocktails fireside or attend one of our many October events. We will start the month with the New Member Mixer on Wednesday, October 7th followed by The Artist’s Reception on Thursday, October 15th. This year, the Clubhouse is partnering with the Lake Quivira Mother’s Club to present a Spooktacular Halloween Party in and around the clubhouse on Sunday, October 26th. There, you’ll enjoy Halloween themed dishes, a fabulous fashion show featuring Lake Quivira’s little ghosts and ghouls and our annual Haunted Hayride. Finally, we will begin November with Homecoming hosted by Lake Quivira on Saturday, November 7th. The clubhouse with be closed for maintenance the week of October 26th, but outside of that time, we look forward to continuing to provide you and your families with a country club experience as you dine and enjoy the many amenities of Lake Quivira.
Dean Lytton, CONTINUED... To continue that momentum, I will be making formal announcements regarding the hiring of our new Superintendent and Executive Chef very soon! Be sure to check your e-mail. Lastly, I want to remind everyone that when visiting our buildings to please keep COVID protocols top of mind. As a staff, we still face COVID challenges almost weekly. I want to do everything possible to keep our staff and members safe. Masks are required in all buildings unless eating or drinking. When you are gathered in groups in any of our buildings or are unable to maintain consistent social distancing when on property, please wear a mask per health department orders. I look forward to a time when we don’t have to include these reminders – but until then, let’s all do what we can to stay safe and keep our club open. See you around the Community! 9

COMMUNITY CENTER Graham Battle Community Center Director
As we move into the Fall a lot has been changing around The Q and I am not just speaking of the leaves. For those of you that are not aware, my name is Graham Battle, and I am the new Director of The Q. I have been the Director of Racquet Sports the past two and a half years and I am excited to make the transition of taking The Q under my wing as well. I am still very involved with the LQ racquets program and hoping to continue to grow our thriving program, but I want to bring the same energy and excitement outside on the courts inside The Q as well. I have a vision of how I want to bring more energy and excitement to our wonderful new facility, and you will begin to see these programs implemented over the next month and starting in November. Fall brings the colder weather so if you are looking to work out, join a class, or play indoors at the gym we would love to see you at The Q soon!

Kids' Community and Preschool Playground by: Liz Wolfe
The new kids' community and preschool playground, which serves as a front-and-center "welcome" to members at The Q, is garnering rave reviews from (socially distanced) "field testers!" The new playground, designed by world-renowned Kompan company, uses top-quality materials including allweather Robinia wood and lowermaintenance poured-in-place rubber flooring for enhanced safety and durability. With this playground, LQ kids have the opportunity to let loose, have fun, and do what they're meant to do: climb, run, problem-solve, and move in creative ways that foster both physical and neurological development. Not only does this playground's design dovetail with the much-valued natural setting of our beautiful city, it also takes into account the dynamic, sensory, and creative needs of Lake Quivira youth. Creative and imaginative play is a key component of healthy development, Continued on the next page...

and this new playground is stacked with opportunity! In designing this playground, the Lake Quivira Mothers' Club wanted to innovate - thinking outside the box of conventional playground design to offer something not yet seen in our many play areas at the lake, while continuing to serve children's developmental needs. This beautiful, innovative playground would not have been possible without the generous support of Mothers' Club members, our amazing Casino Night fundraiser participants, the Lake Quivira Foundation, and other donors who believed in our vision - as well as the vision of our Casino Night partner charity, Variety Kansas City, which continues to serve children in need of adaptive equipment and playgrounds throughout the greater Kansas City area. We are profoundly grateful to be able to count on the generosity and enthusiasm of this community, even in these uncertain times. Thank you to all who made it happen! 23
