I want to take this opportunity to say farewell to my supervisor and very close friend, Mike Dzatko. It’s been my pleasure to work for you. I’ve never met anyone who is more honest, with more integrity, or with a better sense of humor than you, Mike. You are what I call a 95%’er. Maybe even 97% of the time you are right!! I appreciate your sound advice, and I am really going to miss you. Your dedication to NHH and all you’ve done here will set the bar very high for your replacement. Best to you and your wife as you enjoy your retirement years.

Denae you receive a special thanks for providing the best music sound system in the history of Summer Fun Day since I’ve been at NHH! That Boise radio rocked and your Itunes kept staff on their feet! OPEN POSITIONS New Hope Housing is currently accepting resumes for the following job opportunities: Director of Finance New Hope Housing is seeking a Director of Finance who will bring a sophisticated approach to our agency's finances and financial team. He/she will also bring a strong sense of organization-wide leadership; working closely with our Executive Director to set all financial policies for the organization and oversee other critical functions, including: Compliance, Risk Management, and I.T. contractor relations. Will play a critical role in developing and rolling out financial and administrative strategies to support the organization's growth and vision for the future. Financial/Accounting Provide oversight and management of all financial transactions (5.5 million dollar budget) and the monthly accounting cycle according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other accepted policies. Responsible for budget development, financial statement preparations, grant management (including HUD), audit, and preparation of the 990 as well as supervision of the Accounting staff. Risk Management and Asset Protection Evaluates and maintains risk management and asset protection strategies and practices to ensure the upmost protection. Responsible for the management of a portfolio of 12 residential units, 2 small office spaces, and 9 vehicles. Information Technology Responsible for ensuring staff at multiple locations have the needed technology to accomplish their job responsibilities. This includes both hardware and software needs to bring legacy systems up to date. Supervises IT contractor. Position requires a Bachelor's Degree, with a minimum of 7 years' experience in financial oversight, financial statement preparation/analysis, budget forecast/preparation, A/P, A/R, tax laws, cash management, internal control compliance, and must be comfortable working independently on all these functions. A CPA preferred. Proven success with Fund Accounting for 501(c)(3) organizations, MIP or similar accounting software, and ADP. Must be a strategic thinker and be solution focused. Proven experience with management/supervision of support staff, better than average technical knowledge of computer hardware and software and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Susan’s Place is part of New Hope Housing’s Permanent supportive housing programs, serving single adults. Applicants must have a BA/MA degree and considerable experience working with adults with serious mental illness; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; experience with chronically homeless adults; strong counseling and crisis intervention skills; flexibility, creativity, and leadership skills; able to make decisions independently and work autonomously and as part of a team. On -call rotation serving once a month. Will rotate on-call coverage. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive agency vehicles as needed. $41,000/year. EOE/ADA that values diversity.

OPEN POSITIONS Case Manager– Singles’ Shelter The Case Manager will report to Director of Programs for Singles and is responsible for providing case management services to assigned residents. The focus of the work is on helping residents to rapidly obtain permanent housing. The Case Manager provides assistance in building the family’s independence in the areas of housing, budgeting, employment and debt reduction. The case manager coordinates and monitors the assessment, housing plan development, and follow-up for each family and serves as an advocate and liaison for and on behalf of families.  

 

    

Meets with residents for in depth housing assessment, within two business days of intake to the shelter. Assessment includes an in -depth social history, and an assessment resident’s strengths and weaknesses. In conjunction with the resident and based on assessments, he or she develops an individual housing plan that prioritizes the top three actions necessary to obtain housing with specific timeframes/deadlines. This plan will address housing barriers within the context of a rapid rehousing model. The Housing Plan will explicitly state time focused expectations for the resident and staff. The plan is a fluid document and new tasks may be developed as goals are achieved. Amends/updates the plan as appropriate throughout the household’s participation in the program, this may include after-care. Is the lead coordinator for all service delivery for the resident. Consults with interdisciplinary team members for input regarding housing plan development and housing plan compliance. Makes referrals to outside agencies for services not available through New Hope Housing. Refers under and unemployed residents to skill source/job link for educational and career assessments. Refers residents deemed eligible for New Hope Housing employment services to the appropriate staff. In conjunction with the Employment Specialist and Interdisciplinary Team, develops an Employment Plan that will become a part of the Individualized Housing Plan. Creates a budget with the resident based on verifiable income (through the use of pay stubs or copies of money orders for those persons with undocumented income) that includes a savings goal, housing debt repayment and the target housing expense. Once income is verified, refers client to the Housing Locator by submitting budget and income verification. If eligible for housing location services, case manager will facilitate a conference call between the case manager, Housing Locator and resident to determine potential housing options. Insures that the household follows up with the housing locator staff to visit units and submit applications. Initiates HOST/Rapid Re-Housing packet if/when resident is approved for a unit. Determines level of compliance with housing plan for deliberations with interdisciplinary team on expectations and terminations. Provides residents with necessary feedback to ensure compliance. Maintains regular contact with residents, to include a minimum of at least one face to face meeting a week. Provides crisis intervention to shelter residents as needed. Uses a strengths based approach and motivational interviewing in working with residents. Ensures that residents are enrolled and participating in any and all educational and/or life skills programs that will help them achieve their housing goals. Follow up weekly to determine that residents are attending programs as required. Programs include but are not limited to job readiness, Ready to Rent, financial management, Out of Poverty, resume blitzes, etc. Communicates needs for additional programs to supervisor. Completes and maintains weekly progress notes in electronic and hard copy form. Provides all requisite paperwork to supervisor and subsequently files all documents on a weekly basis. Maintains accurate records in compliance with agency policy, HMIS and compiles requisite statistics. Submits weekly updates to all members of the interdisciplinary team. Attends interdisciplinary team and staff meetings. Works flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and overnights, as required. Case managers need to work a schedule that allows for them to meet with all of the clients on their case load each week. Assists residents in obtaining moving assistance when leaving the shelter. This may include the case manager physically transporting the resident and some belongings to their housing. Models caring, concerned, respectful attitude toward residents. Maintains adherence to resident guidelines and upholds shelter procedures. Is familiar with and complies with policies and procedures including the Code of Ethics of New Hope Housing, Inc.

Performs other duties as assigned. BA/MA in behavioral science,. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Case management experience with homeless families, including those with mental illness, substance abuse history, and victims of domestic violence. crisis intervention skills. Valid driver’s license. On Call Resident Service SpecialistsMondloch House/Mondloch Place/Kennedy/ACS Responsibilities include monitoring the shelter, answering the phones, greeting visitors, and most importantly interacting in a positive manner with our residents. $13.13 an hour. Must be flexible, dependable, and have the ability to work with a diversified group of individuals. A High School diploma or GED is necessary, and previous experience with the homeless/mentally ill a plus. Successful candidates will be called to duty when we are short staffed. Hours are flexible, not scheduled, and you must be willing to cover shifts at a moment’s notice. $13.13 an hour. EOE/ADA that values diversity. On-Call Residential Service Specialist for Susan’s Place and Max’s Place On-Call Residential Services Specialist (RSS) for chronically homeless adults with substance abuse/mental illness/or co-occurring disorders located in Arlington and Falls Church, Virginia. Must be able to establish rapport and build trust with residents and be comfortable working in a program with few rules. Need to be flexible and have an ability to handle crisis situations. RSS will assist Outreach Counselors with leading life skills groups/activities, cooking and cleaning with residents and general upkeep of the house. RSS monitors residents’ medication. Must be able to work well independently and must be reliable. Provides On-call coverage. Must have a valid driver’s license and BA in behavioral science or related field. Experience can be substituted for education. BSW preferred. Two years experience with homeless adults, adults with mental illness or substance abusers. Counseling and crisis intervention skills. Ensures a safe and manageable living environment for the shelter residents by establishing and ensuring consistent implementation of policies and procedures. Informs Resident Services Specialist of all activities to occur during their shift. Is visible and interacts regularly with shelter residents. Hires, trains, and supervises Resident Services Specialists. Consults with case managers regarding resident treatment goals and consults with Operations division on facility and donations issues. Provides crisis intervention and crisis management services as needed. Communicates shelter volunteer needs to volunteer coordinator. Designated agency Certified Staff Trainer for the handing out of medications. Oversees the handing out of medication, medication vouchers, taxi vouchers, and bus tokens to residents. Facilitates site meetings and participates in all staff meetings. Maintains all required documentation including progress notes, service statistics, log entries, correspondence, and other related information. Oversees tracking and reporting of resident and program data. Prepares periodic reports/statistics. Works flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and over nights as assigned; is on call. Oversees intake procedures and checkout procedures for residents. Is responsible for arranging and implementing training for site staff. Transports residents when requested in agency vehicles, including the agency’s 15-passenger van.

Models a caring, concerned, and respectful attitude toward residents. Maintains adherence to resident guidelines and upholds shelter procedures. Is familiar with and complies with policies and procedures of New Hope Housing. BA and two years’ experience in a human service setting preferred. OPEN POSITIONS Shelter Services Specialist– Singles’ Shelter The Shelter Services Specialist will report to the Director of Programs for Singles and will supervise and coordinate his/her shift, ensuring all resident services specialist procedures are followed; and Is a member of the interdisciplinary staff team as well as site team. 

Provides front desk coverage for the 8am to 4pm shift Monday - Friday—duties include, but are not limited to, the following: answering phones; complete resident intakes; coordination of donation deliveries; working directly with volunteers and donors, the general public, and New Hope Housing residents and staff members.

Has administrative shift supervision. Reviews all incident reports, warnings, log books, medication procedures, and token reports for accuracy and compliance with NHH documentation standards. Reviews all new intake files on the shift to ensure releases are signed and the intake procedure is complete. Makes sure that prior resident’s previous file is pulled and all files are placed in the appropriate case manager’s box.

Coordinates and maintains all Shelter Point HMIS data entry (encoding program entry and exits, service transactions, maintaining daily shelter bed lists, etc.) for the main shelter and overflow trailer. Responsible for encoding all program entry and exits for hypothermia shelters (VICHOP, Falls Church Homeless Shelter, and EUKS Winter Seasonal). Reviews HMIS data forms and ensure releases are signed for hypothermia programs. Represents NHH at mandatory monthly hypothermia data quality trainings during hypothermia season (November 1-April1). Works closely with NHH hypothermia coordinators and other community agency providers to ensure all data is accurate. Works directly with the Director of Programs for Singles to maintain accurate HMIS e-data.

Works directly with the Director of Programs for Singles to maintain the shelter banned and pre-condition admittance list, coordination of collateral referrals, and ensures shelter beds are filled as quickly as possible

Compiles daily, monthly, and quarterly reports for statistical reporting purposes as required

Effectively communicates problem areas, concerns, and recommendations to the Director of Programs for Singles

Reports facility maintenance concerns to the Director of Operations and/or appropriate county contact

Interacts positively with, New Hope Housing staff, deployed staff, staff of other agencies, the public and volunteers. Consults with director/residential coordinator and case managers regarding residents’ personal needs, behavior and service planning. Inform case managers’ of resident problems.

Ensures a safe and manageable living environment for the shelter residents. Monitor residential areas, is visible and interacts regularly and informally with shelter residents.

Demonstrates an interest in the quality of the workplace by noticing when procedures are not working well and then offering suggestions for improvement.

Facilitates the orientation, training, and work of shelter volunteers for the front desk and communicates shelter volunteer needs to the volunteer coordinator

Models a caring, concerned, and respectful attitude toward residents and maintains adherence to resident guidelines and upholds shelter procedures. Is familiar with and complies with policies and procedures of New Hope Housing, Inc.

Transports residents when requested in agency vehicles, including the agency’s 15-passenger van
