VIRGINIA Residents: Update your voter registration at vote.virginia.gov 

Deadline to register to vote, or update an existing registration, for the November 8, 2016 General Election is Monday, October 17, 2016  Deadline to request an absentee ballot to be mailed to you is 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2016. Your request must be received by your Registrar by 5:00 p.m. fairfaxcounty.gov/elections/absentee.htm  Deadline to request an absentee ballot by appearing in-person is 5:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2016 General Elections 22 Days before election Primary Elections 22 Days before election Special Elections 13 Days before election Special Elections (Called by the Governor) 7 Days before election Notice to voters using US mail service: the USPS delivery standards changed early last year so that First Class delivery went from 1-3 days to 2-5 days and Standard delivery is now 2-9 days. Please take this into consideration as you start thinking towards absentee voting for the Presidential election.

Improve your Chances of Successful Registration    

Complete all information blocks on the application. If any information requested does not apply to you, indicate such by writing the word “NONE” or “NA” in that space. Sign and date the registration application. Submit your completed application by mailing it to the appropriate address listed on the application, or delivering it to your local registration office. Failure to complete the form properly could result in your registration being delayed or denied.


MARYLAND Residents: You can use Maryland's Online Voter Registration System (OLVR) or submit avoter registration application to your local board of elections or the State Board of Elections at any time. However, an application must be postmarked by the voter registration deadline in order to vote in the next scheduled election. If you submit a voter registration application during the period that registration is closed, your application will be held at the local board of elections and processed when registration reopens. The close of voter registration is: October 18, 2016, for the Presidential General Election. If usingMaryland's Online Voter Registration System (OLVR), you have until 9:00pm to submit your application. You can also register to vote during early voting. To make the voting process quicker for you, we encourage you to register to vote by the close of voter registration. If you can't register by that date, go to an early voting center in the county where you live and bring a document that proves where you live. This document can be your MVA-issued license, ID card, or change of address card, or your paycheck, bank statement, utility bill, or other government document with your name and new address.

The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene; The Department of Social Services; The Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA); Offices on Aging; The MTA Paratransit Certification Office; All public institutions of higher education; Recruitment offices of the U.S. Armed Forces; Marriage license offices; and Offices for students with disabilities at all Maryland colleges and universities.

You can also register to vote during early voting. To make the voting process quicker for you, we encourage you to register to vote by the close of voter registration. If you can't register by that date, go to an early voting center in the county where you live and bring a document that proves where you live. This document can be your MVA-issued license, ID card, or change of address card, or your paycheck, bank statement, utility bill, or other government document with your name and new address.


DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA Residents: https://www.dcboee.org/ The voter registration deadline for the November 8th, 2016 General Election is October 11th, 2016. In order to register to vote, you must:   

Be a United States Citizen Be a resident of the District of Columbia Be at least 16 years old (District residents may preregister to vote at age 16, but will not receive a voter registration card or be eligible to vote until they are at least 17 with a date of birth indicating that they will be 18 on or before the next general election.) Not be in jail on a felony conviction Not have been found by a court to be legally incompetent to vote Not claim voting residence outside of the District of Columbia

When is the deadline to register to vote? Your emailed application must be received by the 30th day, and your mailed application must be postmarked by the 30th day prior to an election for you to be eligible to cast a ballot; after that date, you can only register to vote in person. There is no registration deadline in person, you may register and cast a special ballot on Election Day.

Do I need to choose a party when I register? To vote in a primary election in the District of Columbia, you must be registered to vote with either the Democratic, Republican, or D.C. Statehood Green Party.

Do I need to provide ID? To register by mail you must have either a Driver's license number or a DMV- issued ID number or a social security number. When registering for the first time by mail you will additionally need to include a copy of one of the following:  A copy of a current and valid government photo identification  A copy of a current utility bill  A copy of a current bank statement  A copy of a current government check  A copy of a paycheck  Other government document that shows the name and address of the voter

Artisha recently served in a temp role (Bridging Affordability Project Manager) at Northern Virginia Family Services. Her professional experience has been fast-paced, challenging and broad in scope. IMMEDIATE NEED SPREAD THE WORD! On Call Resident Service Specialists- Kennedy Shelter & Alexandria Community Shelter Responsibilities include monitoring the shelter, answering the phones, greeting visitors, and most importantly interacting in a positive manner with our residents. Must be flexible, dependable, and have the ability to work with a diversified group of individuals. A High School diploma or GED is necessary, and previous experience with the homeless/mentally ill a plus. Successful candidates will be called to duty when we are short staffed. Hours are flexible, not scheduled, and you must be willing to cover shifts at a moment’s notice. $14.13 an hour. EOE/ADA that values diversity.

PSH Full Time Outreach Counselor Provide case management services and house coverage from 8am-4pm Monday-Friday at our group home in the Arlington. The group home is part of New Hope Housing's permanent supportive housing programs, serving 6 single adults with mental illness. Will also provide case management support to 3 scattered site Housing First units in Arlington. Daily activities may include routine case management duties (this is a HUD program, therefore paperwork can be heavy at times), life skills, engaging with residents, and proactively seek opportunities to assist residents to be positive members of society. Assist residents in finding appropriate services and transportation to get to appointments. Will rotate the on-call phone with other team members. BA/MA degree and considerable experience working with adults with serious mental illness; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; experience with chronically homeless adults; strong counseling and crisis intervention skills; flexibility, creativity, and leadership skills; ability to make decisions independently and work autonomously and as part of a team. Some evening hours are required to meet residents’ needs. Must have a valid driver's license, be able to provide an acceptable DMV record, and be able to drive agency vehicles as needed. $43,000/year
