IMPORTANCIAS DE EXTINCIÓN
risk valuation diagram
after the heavy wild fires of october 2017 at the atlantic coast of portugal and spain we visited the burnt areas around vigo three month later. the impressions of walking through the affected areas produced a degree of feelings between beauty and horror. we analysed the area and the special situation of the moment of recreation after the big disaster. during several talks by locals, firemen and administrative professionals we travelled back to barcelona to develop a territorial proposal to reduce the risk of wildfires in times of global warming. part of the project was the wildfire analysis of the territory and de development of a fire reduction proposal to reduce the risk of high density fires to save human and nature. publication: http://www.tiranaarchi- tectureweek.com/as- sets/taw2018_isc_pro- ceedings_ld.pdf page: 121

topographic strategies for rainwater management
the city of mestre is located in the hinterland of venice, italy. similar to the whole bay, the area of study is suffering with a phreatic level in around 1 meter depth and strong flooding during occasion of heavy rain. there is a high risk of flooding for the partly illegal built houses, also because of the hight sealing of soils in the small streets. the task of the project was to develop an working water management system that not only protects of future floods but also gives a certain transformation of quality to the quarter. working intensively with specific species again, it was very interesting to see how this special, humid but partly very dry area could transform to something dens with an natural and calm character and way of working. constructive detail of the infrastructures

: master workshop. public space - desdibujando las rondas de sant antoni BARCELONA, SPAIN
the workshop of public space was discussing the situation in between the historic city centre (25.000 inhabitants/km2) and the district eixample, the expansion district, constructed in the 19th and early 20th centuries (36.000 inhabitants/km2). we investigated about the conflicts between the very touristic old town district and the local net of eixample. the project offers a detailed perception of how the new and modern public space in the heart of barcelona can change from border (like the old city wall on this place earlier) to connector, fetching the touching streets to evolve a transversal unity.

: master workshop. tourism infrastructures - acupunctura hidrica RIMINI, ITALY
the city of rimini represents a type of mass tourism, which focuses on the convenience of renting a beach umbrella and a deckchair to get a tan on a completely artificial beach. the hydraulic infrastructure works based on a problem of erosion of the shrinking beach, whose loss can not be avoided if not only delayed over the years. the project is based on the redevelopment of the landscapes ancient elements and of emilia romagna in general: the maceri, artificial water tanks that farmers constructed to produce hemp for fabrics. those forgotten elements are dispersed in the landscape of rimini, very different from each other for vegetation, for evolution and contemporary use. through the creation of a system of tourist routes, it would be possible to create a new low-density tourism, to preserve the intimate character of these elements, their biodiversity and at the same time allow tourists to know and experience the character of the ancient agriculture. the project seeks, to broad views, to diversify the water supply and generate alternative tourism, reactivating a legacy of productive and ecological character at the same time. analysing the ecologically unsustainable use of the coast, the project seeks to open the possibility to a new vision of resilient tourism, through an infrastructure of simple construction that allows to raise and reactivate elements of the landscape that present a completely forgotten potential. current built tourism infrastructure: area of beach/sea per person and accumulation of visitors per meter of first coast line

: final master thesis - nuevos viejos horizontes BERLIN, GERMANY
risk of nuclear contermination in central europe today
on april 26, 1986, the reactor of block 4 of the chernobyl nuclear power plant exploded. this accident is still considered the world’s worst accident in a nuclear power plant. over 30 years later one can find a certain tourism of horror there. various former first-aiders and other local experts market the experience in the almost completely abandoned exclusion zone around the accident site. tourism should bring new life and money to the very little people that stayed in the evacuated zone. the outstanding offer is very well received and the proximity to the city of kiev brings numerous tourists. developing my thesis i surveyed if a long-term radioactive contaminated site is adequate for a place of memory. in private dialogue with people who had witnessed the reactor accident in the ussr at that time but from a mid-european point of view, the idea of visiting a memorial site in a radioactive contaminated area met with widespread misunderstanding. the uncertainty regarding the media appearance at that time was too great and the place of accident too far away despite the geographical proximity. the vision was born torethink architectures devoted to nuclear energy generation as a result of the paradigm shift of nuclear power. the work examines the possibilities of landscape architecture in dealing with the sublime landscapes of the nuclear power plant site and its surroundings and, using the example of the german nuclear power plant philippsburg, which will be shut down until the end of 2019, devises a strategy to deal with the identities of these plants. what is the european landscape for many people today? the alps, the pyrenees, the black forest? or the old beech forest stands, atlantic cliffs or the islands in the aegean sea? for many europeans those are the popular holiday destinations, untouched nature with a few quaint inhabitants. to dive in for a few days. however, the everyday landscape of most people in europe is urban. they live in big cities and their most accessible nature is the cultural landscape. since 1956, an impressive element, the cooling tower, has been incorporated into this european landscape. often in pairs, with or without water vapor, and always visible from afar. now, after several nuclear accidents and ongoing research into the disposal and handling of radiant materials, nuclear power has lost much of its trust in power generation, and many european countries have joined the nuclear shutoff. but what should happen to all the electricity factories on our continent? the colossus made of concrete are in direct contact with large bodies of water and today, for the most part, very prominent locations. do we want to erase the memory of our blind trust in technology from our landscapes? or does it require a transnational memorial for what we have achieved with the splitting of atoms in just 81 years of human history? and how can society learn about newest promising nuclear technologies without shivering to think of what we have experienced in tschernobyl, fukushima or sellafield. structures siteplan at nuclear power plant philippsburg
