Kaishi KATSURA

Rakugo is the perfect example. Unlike western style stand-up comedy, rakugo is performed on stage, sitting on a cushion with a small fan, the only prop. Rakugo literary means, falling words. Dropping the punch line at the end of the story to make the audience laugh. It is the art of words and gesture, to work on the audience's imagination. Kaishi realized rakugo is universal entertaining, beyond the boundary of Japanese culture. Kaishi believes that rakugo is not just a traditional art or entertainment but an excellent method to introduce Japanese history and culture to people overseas. People can enjoy rakugo and learn about Japan at the same time.
