WHAT’S HAPPENING IN OUR
COMMUNITY
By Clair Koetitz & Lyndon Marquez
Welcome to spring in Las Vegas, after an interesting February with all sorts of weather including snow for the first time in 10 years, we are ready for a little warm weather and sunshine. All the organizations have been busy preparing for a fantastic spring and summer. PRIDE has been busy with many activities including committee meetings for each of the committees involved in keeping the organization current. Activities are in the planning stages for PRIDE 2019 with dates announced for the Parade and Festival. They will be held October 11 and 12 in downtown Las Vegas. Changes are happening with this year’s events which will make the experience new and refreshed. Bingo continues to be a staple for Las Vegas PRIDE with the monthly 1st Wednesday Bingo at Hamburger Mary’s. March was a Musical Bingo with the April 3rd occasion being Luau Bingo. Please plan on attending the monthly event. In addition to the monthly bingo we have announced the formation of Las Vegas PRIDE Charity Bingo which is scheduled for each Thursday of the month at Hamburger Mary’s. The Bingos will be run by individual charities in the community and benefiting the individual organizations. In addition, a new quarterly Showgirl Bingo will be presented at Sam’s Town which will be a great addition to the line-up. This bingo is a traditional casino bingo being run by Sam’s Town with raffle benefits going to PRIDE. In addition, PRIDE hosted the annual CAPI event the first of February with a great attendance from other regional prides. The event held many workshops and fun events, the attendees were invited to attend WOW at the Rio along with another evening at Wynn attending
La Reve and an adventure on the High Roller at the LINQ after the show. A highlight of the event was the Gala held at Alexis Park Resorts on Saturday evening. A delicious sit-down meal was served with entertainment by Miss Cinnamen Douglas St. James, Mr. Elliott Puckett, Miss Ariel Keysha Diva and Mr. Steven Wayne. The headliners of the evening were Kristine W and David Hernandez. Everyone enjoyed the event and went home with new ideas for their local events. The Center remains busy with their events including Center Advocacy Network, ACT III, qVolution, HIV Services and Ident-T*. They have March events scheduled for Las Vegas City council Ward 5 Townhall, Drag Supper Club Charity Night and Vegas Women’s Fest: Behind the Mask Masquerade Ball scheduled for March 22nd. They are open Monday through Friday 10:00-8:00 and stay tuned for the announcement of a new restaurant to be opened soon. AFAN was busy for the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting of their new facility on February 6th. Penn & Teller joined Board President Glenn Alai and Executive Director Antioco Carrillo to cut the red ribbon at the new facility dedicated to HIV testing and counselling. The new facility is located at 1830 E Sahara Ave., Suite 210, Las Vegas, Nevada 89104. Many interesting aspects have been included in this great new facility including a Path to the Cure wall, a “Welcome to the Penn & Teller Lobby” and a very interesting wall outlining the AFAN HIV Aids History. Stop by and visit the new facility. Don’t forget the AIDS Walk Las Vegas 2019 being held April 7, 2019 at Town Square.
HRC has been very busy with their ongoing events being held at various locations through out the city. They organized Jazz & Friends National Day of School and Community Readings at the Center and Help “Rock Her World”, a night of celebrating women at the Eclipse Theater. They had many sponsors to help showcase this event including FANTASY, and the ACES. They continue being very activate in the community supporting many events and spreading the word about the organization. The 5th annual Nevada women’s film festival will be held at the Eclipse Theaters March 21-24. Check the website www. nwffest.com for more information about this great event. The Sin Sity Sisters of Preputial Indulgence have been extremely busy their facility and events. Another wonderful Red Dress “exotic, erotic, chaotic” event was held February 23rd at the Industrial event space. The 10th annual Red Ribbon Review held at Flex raised $1,000 for the AIDS Drug Assistance Program. “Underbear”, a prered dress underwear party, was also held at Flex sponsored by the Bears of Las Vegas. Everyone had a wonderful time at the Red Dress event being entertained by DJ Matt Consola, Robert Ryan, Eddie, Ricky Beltran, Mr. Big Stuart, Justin and others. New individuals were Sainted including Brian Bonds, Mason Lear, Lisa McClung, Kristopher Minnich, Rachel Rogers and LA Walker. Congratulations to all for being welcomed into Sainthood. The Sisters have been extremely busy completing their additional space at the Nunnery so it would be ready for the Community Mixer on March 1st. Thanks to Sister Loosy for spearheading this transformation of a wonderful space. Don’t forget to check out all the fantastic webpages and social media for all the latest updates and dates for these fantastic organizations and see you at all the great Bingos scheduled for the future.

are going to be allowed, the answer is yes! PRIDE Pets was a huge success and this year it will be bigger and better. Pet selfies are always popular, we again reached out to our Las Vegas community and loved all of the many adorable selfies with fur-babies that we received in response.
A LETTER FROM THE EDITOR By Ernie Yuen, Executive Director, Las Vegas PRIDE
Aloha everyone! Spring time is here and that can only mean one thing, pool season is right around the corner. I remember the very first Gay Pool party at the Luxor, we were in the south pool with maybe 80-100 other people. It was always a great time, I can’t believe Tim Evans, MGM’s LGBT marketing guru and his team will be celebrating their 10-year anniversary this season. In this issue we had a chance to chat with Tim Evans, Luxor’s Director of Marketing and Temptation Sunday’s host J.Son. Congratulations for your success, we can’t wait for the pool season to begin. This issue is dedicated to our fur-babies, our “PRIDE Pets.” We have lots of great information and articles dedicated to our furry friends. We have also received many inquiries about Las Vegas PRIDE Festival 2019 and whether pets

The Las Vegas PRIDE Board is actively working around the clock to plan PRIDE 2019. We already secured an amazing venue and are booking entertainment for an amazing and diverse lineup. We should be announcing our line up soon. The Las Vegas PRIDE Festival is moving away from Sunset Park. We will be moving to downtown Las Vegas. Our new home will be the Las Vegas Events Center on Bridger Ave. and 3rd Street. We are all very excited on the move and to be closer to downtown, there are many great opportunities to grow and expand being in a more central location. The foot traffic alone will change the dynamics of the festival, and the opportunity for our guests to enjoy the festival. Festival goers step out to gamble a little, go to their favorite downtown restaurant for lunch or dinner, will be a game changer for us, and will keep people at the festival longer by allowing them to flow in and out as they please. You’ll be able to make an entire day out of visiting downtown Las Vegas. October 11th is the date for our Las Vegas PRIDE NCOD (National Coming OUT Day) Parade, our Festival is the following day, October 12th. Our 10 days of PRIDE Celebrations begins October 2nd, with PRIDE Family Bingo. Our PRIDE Kick Off, a Turnabout Show hosted by of Mr. Las Vegas PRIDE 2019 Zion Savage, is always a fun way to start celebrating. The opening Temptation Sunday’s Pool Party is set for Sunday, October 6, with Family Cosmic Bowling scheduled for Sunday evening. The Youth Roller-skating Party is set for Monday, October 7th. As we secure events for Las Vegas PRIDE 2019 we will post all our information on the PRIDE Event Calendar. We are always looking for volunteers who want to get involved and join a committee, please go to www.lasvegaspride. org for more information. Hope you enjoy our PRIDE Pet’s issue, Congratulations to our newly crowned Mr. and Miss Las Vegas PRIDE 2019, Aleialoha and Zion Savage. M.O.M. (MIXED ORIENTATION MARRIAGES) BI CORNER By Steve Mitchell Given that so many straight-presenting and gay-presenting bisexuals are in the closet, there are a high number of mixed orientation marriages (marriages where one spouse is straight or gay and the other spouse is bisexual). In many cases, people stay in the closet for their whole lives. Some act on their orientation while others do not. As we understand more and more about sexual orientation and non-male/female relationships become more acceptable, married and closeted bisexuals are coming out to their spouses. Coming out is never easy. It can be particularly difficult for a bi person to come out to their spouse. Not knowing how a spouse will react can be highly stressful. They can run through a host of emotions – anger, feelings of being lied to, worry that their bi spouse cannot be faithful, that their bi spouse may not love them as deeply as they thought, and have a desire to separate.
foundation. Not every bisexual is non-monogamous. A monogamous lifestyle can be influenced by family upbringing, religious teaching, personality and societal norms. Exclusivity is highly valued among many people. But history and the current culture show us that monogamy is not the norm. The Bible is filled with polygamous marriages and it makes no value judgment upon them. It is up to each couple to decide how to define their relationship.
Some people are sequential bisexuals meaning that they get their needs met by the person that they are in love with, regardless of gender and have no need for a non-monogamous relationship. Others are concurrent bisexuals meaning that they need more than one gender to meet their needs and monogamy would be a very difficult lifestyle to lead. It is not for me to judge whether one is right and one is wrong. People are wired A marriage can survive this revelation differently and I accept both of these but it takes time, understanding, lifestyles. love, trust and a firm relationship
The lesson for us is that we should never make assumptions about someone else’s relationship. First of all, we should never assume sexual orientation based on one’s current relationship. Secondly, we should not assume that individuals in a mixed orientation marriage have an open marriage or a non-monogamous relationship. It is easy to fall into the trap of thinking that because someone is bisexual, that they must have more than one partner because….they are bisexual! If we are to assume anything about another couple it should be this – they are together because they are in love and they have a relationship that works for them, be it monogamous or non-monogamous. It isn’t always appropriate to ask people questions about monogamy and non-monogamy. If you know someone well, it might be fine to ask. Until you have that type of friendship, make the assumption that what they have works for them.

Caesars Palace became “Lisa’s Palace” the weekend of April 1 as the resort celebrated the grand opening of Vanderpump Cocktail Garden with television star and restaurateur Lisa Vanderpump. Vanderpump Cocktail Garden is the newest addition to the iconic Los Angeles-based Vanderpump empire and offers exclusive cocktails and bites, all in a garden oasis setting. Vanderpump was joined by some of her famous friends for a starstudded opening, including Camille Grammer, Lance Bass and the cast of “Vanderpump Rules.” In true Vanderpump-fashion, Caesars Palace’s iconic fountains were turned pink and all of the resort’s signature roman statues were adorned with pink roses in homage to the newest member of the Caesars Palace family. “It is such an honor that Caesars Palace asked us to partner with them on this venture, we were thrilled to become part of the Caesars Family,” said Lisa Vanderpump. “We have created a unique, decadent space with a majestic feel where guests can relax in a sexy garden oasis. The romance continues inside as the lounge elegantly fuses natural elements with industrial dÊcor, including Lisa’s signature feminine touch with contrasting masculine details. With

Lisa Vanderpump and her husband Ken Todd have been entrenched in the restaurant and nightclub industry since they started their partnership over 30 years ago. Tougher community guidelines on social media have resulted in deleted accounts for many and the ever increasing censorship is now impacting dating apps. Our digital safespace is being eroded and censorship seems to be the go-to option for governments and companies around the world it feels like anything that’s a bit queer or a bit sexual is at the top of the hit-list. Here at Squirt.org, we love sex. We think that sex is a good thing, and that our bodies, whatever the shape, size color or age are beautiful and should be celebrated. We believe that there’s nothing wrong with getting your clothes off and that there’s no shame attached to nakedness. Obviously, not everyone feels the same way. Differences of opinion about sexual expression aren’t a new thing, but there appears to be a growing shift to a more socially conservative outlook on the world.
Instagram, Tumblr, or YouTube, then you get to decide what content you’re going to allow your users to publish. We might not like the decisions they make, or the way they go about it, but they get to make the rules. However, censorship impacts us all, and it can often be in quite unexpected ways. Hook-up apps are being forced to introduce new guidelines for user profile photos. The new guidelines specified that “photos in underwear, jockstraps or bikini style bathing suits are no longer permitted in profile photos.” Given that these are gay hook-up apps, on the face of it that seems like an odd move. But, they have been backed into a corner. They rely on app stores to distribute their service to users, and app stores are becoming increasingly cautious and conservative when it comes to anything that might be considered adult-oriented.
with our members, so we’ve been fortunate to dodge that particular bullet. However, we’re acutely aware that censorship of adult and sexpositive content is only increasing. We can’t be complacent. The rising tide of censorship and online regulation could soon put us all out of business, making it no longer feasible for us to provide the types of services and content that our members value – services and content that also play an important role in our community. So, we want to take a stand. We want to send a message. We can’t stay silent in the face of increasing censorship. We’ve launched our #CensorshipSucks campaign to allow people to have their voices heard.

A perfect example, the 01, October shooting in Las Vegas. Therapy dogs were in full effect, making their rounds in the hospital hallways for all in need. On a micro level, there is a reason petting your dog (or cat, or fuzzy creature of your choice) after a particularly tough day is relaxing. Therapy animals relieve stress and anxiety. According to CNN, petting a dog can lower blood pressure and release oxytocin in humans, a hormone that can have calming effects. Having these dogs around for the victims, & responders greatly helped with their PTSD. Myriad studies have shown that therapy animals have an overwhelmingly positive effect on individuals with mental illnesses and survivors of trauma and PostTraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Emotional support animals are amazing and have become crucial for someone living with a mental illness. With special training based on someone’s illness, Therapy/Service dogs can save lives. Even if your pet is not a trained therapy/service dog, just having one in your home can have such an impact on your life and wellbeing. My dog is without a doubt my saving grace and best friend for life.
Whoever said sitting in a room full of puppies could not fix all problems clearly has not done it….well to be honest, neither have I. Nevertheless, just imagine how amazing and stressfree you would feel being surrounded by the cutest, cuddliest, fur babies around. I would lose it! Don’t get me wrong, all animals are wonderful and can have a dramatic impact on someone’s life. I may just be a little bias with dogs because I am crazy obsessed with mine. No for real, I literally will email a new picture of my dog out to all my co-
workers because they need to see the pure perfection that is he. Pets will always be there for you and they know nothing but unconditional love. I cannot count the times I have come home from a stressful day at work, or something isn’t going right in my personal life and the minute my dog gives me a gross slobber kiss, or lays his head on my lap and looks at me with those perfect puppy dog eyes all that stress and anxiety is gone. Studies have proven that Man’s Best Friend (and no, they don’t have to be a dog) can have a huge impact on your general health. Las Vegas PRIDE Magazine | 33

Bored Now! A BUFFY BUFFET By Paul Cieslewicz
On a humid late summer afternoon in 1992, while attending PLDC (Primary Leadership Development Course) in Fort Benning, GA (Yes, I was in the Army for 4 years!), I took a casual jaunt over to the movie theater on base that would change my life forever. This little movie, with one of the most interesting titles that I’d ever heard of, was playing. It had already been deemed a flop (the theaters on base usually received movies secondhand), but that didn’t stop me. The curiosity level was too high for me not to see it. That movie was Buffy, the Vampire Slayer. It starred Kristy Swanson, whom I knew from Disney’s Mr. Boogedy (Google it!), Donald Sutherland, Rutger Hauer, Paul Reubens in arguably one of his most hilarious non-Pee-wee Herman roles (best death scene EVER!) and Luke Perry, who was known at the time for his starring role on Beverly Hills, 90210, and who was recently taken from us way too soon in an absolute gut punch to my youth (seemingly every young gay man at the time wanted their own Dylan McKay). Buffy, the Vampire Slayer tells the story of Buffy Summers (Swanson), a California teen on the tail end of the Valley Girl scene (think the Millennials of the 80s and early 90s). She has a very vapid life of school, cheerleading, shopping and hanging out with her equally shallow friends (“All I wanna do is graduate from high school, go to Europe, marry Christian Slater, and die!”). Into her life enters Merrick (Sutherland), a man claiming that Buffy is the Chosen One, a Slayer 44 | Las Vegas PRIDE Magazine
destined to defend mankind from vampires, and he is her Watcher, there to train her. While skeptic at first (“Does Elvis talk to you? Does he tell you to do things?”), Buffy slowly accepts her new role, and finds herself developing feelings for Pike (Perry), a slacker that she used to despise who discovers firsthand Buffy’s newfound abilities and joins the fight against the vampires with her. The movie ends with the vampires vanquished during a high school dance, and Buffy and Pike riding off into the sunrise on a motorcycle. While being chock full of quotable moments and having an overall sense of fun (and Paul Reubens!), Buffy, the Vampire Slayer was not a very good movie. Nobody knew this more than Joss Whedon, who created it and wrote the screenplay. He watched as his work was picked apart by the studio and taken in a completely different direction than he had intended. As such, he was not about to let his creation go to waste. Five years after the mediocre reception of the original movie, Buffy… rose again to stake her claim (see what I did there?) in the world of television on the fledgling WB Network with its creator at the helm. Joss Whedon was taking back his character and doing it the way he had wanted to in the first place. The first episode of the rejuvenated Buffy, the Vampire Slayer acted as a continuation of the movie in many respects, seeing Buffy (now iconically played by Sarah Michelle
Gellar) and her mother relocating to another California town, the fictitious Sunnydale, after the events of the movie. Some of the references to the movie, such as the burning down of the gymnasium, were events that had taken place in Whedon’s original script but were not seen in the finished film (the gym survived). The series would see Buffy dealing with life at a new high school, getting a new Watcher, Giles, who would replace Merrick from the film, meeting a new group of friends (including a couple witches, a werewolf and a vengeance demon) that would come to be referred to as “The Scooby Gang”, becoming frenemies with someone who possessed the same qualities that she had in her pre-Slayer existence and falling in love with a vampire (or two). The series was groundbreaking in its depiction of a female hero saving the day and was not afraid to deal with numerous issues that young people dealt with at the time, from alienation in high school to its still beloved depiction of a lesbian relationship later in the series. It was also not afraid to try new methods of storytelling, such as an episode, “Hush”, done with almost no dialogue (the characters’ voices were stolen from them by the demonic Gentlemen), as well as an episode, “The Body”, filmed at odd angles used to depict the disjointed feelings associated with the unexpected loss of a loved one. The now classic musical episode, “Once More, With Feeling”, started a trend of musical episodes that saw other series like Scrubs, Grey’s Anatomy and Riverdale follow suit. The 2001
episode retains such a following that record label, Mondo, is releasing a highly anticipated vinyl version of the soundtrack 18 years after its initial airing. Buffy… has also contributed to pop culture in other ways, being credited for coining the term, “Big Bad”, referring to the primary villain of each season, and was also the first to use “Google” as a verb in the 2002 episode, “Help” (Willow: “Have you googled her yet?” / Xander: “She’s 17!”). Buffy, the Vampire Slayer was to me the definition of appointment television.
In the days before streaming and binge watching, the week between episodes could feel like years. The anticipation felt by modern audiences for shows like Game of Thrones and Stranger Things is what was felt by myself and my fellow Buffyverse devotees on a constant basis. We didn’t, however, have the means to easily review previous episodes, unless you had the patience to go through your recorded VHS tapes (with commercials!). That devotion by fans carries on to this day through the continuation of the series in graphic novel form, which is still overseen by
Joss Whedon. And for those curious about the meaning of the quote in the title, “Bored now!”, any fan worth their weight in Mr. Pointys will know it as arguably the most jaw-dropping moment in the entire series. You’ll just have to watch through six seasons to get to it. Buffy…, “She saved the world a lot”.

down and gawk from the walkway. Times have certainly changed and now straight couples attend the Temptation Sundays pool party. The pool party seems to be the one place where the LGBT+ community and their allies really come together and just have a good time.
T E M P TAT I O N SU N DAYS H OW I T A L L B EGA N By Steve Mitchell If you’ve been to just one Temptation Sundays pool party you’ve, no doubt, seen J.Son. He started Temptation Sundays 10 years ago and he can be seen every Sunday walking around poolside greeting the pool partiers. J.Son grew up in Syracuse, NY, and moved to Las Vegas in 1999 to attend UNLV where he received a major in Politic Science with a 2nd major in Theatre. After graduation, he moved back to Syracuse for a short time but relocated back to Las Vegas hoping to do political work. Throughout school he was constantly involved in politics – attending political events and fundraisers. He worked on 3 presidential races and then moved into the entertainment world. A friend recommended that he try stand up comedy. Achieving some success, he went on the road. While on the road he started the Naked Boy Tour (gogo dancing in his underwear) and even stood in Times Square in his underwear asking people if they were voting for Obama or McCain. Naked Boy News started at this time and his video “I’m Gay and I Love John McCain” went viral. He soon became a contributor on CNN. This led to opportunities at Krave Nightclub where he emceed on Thursdays 54 | Las Vegas PRIDE Magazine
(Thirstdaze) and Saturdays. He was also shooting videos for his “Six Pack by Summer” series for CNN. In 2008, Mervette Barry held the first party at the Luxor in 2008 called Sun Kissed. Mervette went on to own Sun Kissed Tanning. J.Son’s boyfriend at the time worked at the Spa inside the Luxor and knew that they were talking about starting their own pool party. He met with the Luxor staff with a proposal. The initial idea was to have a Soak Sundays party but there was already a similarly named event so a new name was born – Temptation Sundays. In the beginning, there were themed-parties like the “80’s” and “Cowboys Day” that even included bales of hay around the pool. The themed-parties lasted for 2 seasons. J.Son and the Luxor realized that people wanted the party more than the themes. In year 3, they knew that they had something very special. Initially the party was on the far side of the south pool on the other side of the walkway. The Luxor proposed moving the party to the north pool as they were at capacity. Moving to the north pool would give the party more privacy. In the beginning people would look
What can you expect this season at Temptation Sundays? There will be more of a focus on the local community with local DJs, a Ladies Day at the pool and a 10 Year Anniversary Celebration. You can expect to hear DJs with different styles of music. I might add, that while the music is loud enough for a party, you can actually carry on conversations with people in the pool. That is a huge plus for me! You don’t need a “beachbody” to attend. Many people shy away from pool parties because they think that they won’t fit in. But once they attend a Temptation Sundays pool party, more often than not, they come back. Everyone is welcome. Temptation Sundays is known as a gay pool party. While that may sound a bit exclusionary for the L, the B, etc, it is a gay pool party in the sense that gay is an umbrella term for everyone in the community. Straight Allies are welcome, too! The party has become more than J.Son could have imagined. He is appreciative of everyone who comes out and he makes sure that he gets around to see everyone. He knows that they could not have hit this milestone without everyone’s continued support. 10 years ago the party drew about 100 guests. Now, the pool fills up every week and some weekends are at capacity. Another example of “if we build it they will come.” And, boy, did they come! We hope that you will come this season, too, and celebrate a decade of fun, parties, community and togetherness.

By Steve Mitchell The Temptation Sundays Pool Party at the Luxor is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this summer! I’ve been attending this pool party for several years. It is, by far, my favorite event in Las Vegas and the highlight of my summer weekends. In 2009, the Luxor was approached by a local promotor who wanted to hold a small gay pool party. The event was successful and the Luxor decided to host their own pool party the following year. The Luxor partnered with J.Son from Naked Boy News and Temptation Sundays was born. J.Son’s partner at the time worked in the Luxor Spa and connected J.Son with the Luxor. He came in and pitched the idea for Temptation Sundays. J.Son has been the only promotor for the Luxor’s LGBT Pool Party for the past 10 years.
According to Tim (pictured above), the pool party has an obligation beyond just being a pool party. It is to create an environment that is welcoming. As an attendee (many times over) I can attest to the welcoming environment. Although usually referred to as a “gay pool party”, Temptation Sundays draws members from across the LGBTQ+ community as well as straight couples. The music is good (loud enough to feel like a party but at a volume that you can carry on a conversation) and the gogo dancers add a unique dimension to the party. Approximately 80%85% of the attendees are male but a good time is had by all genders!
In 2005, MGM acquired the Mandalay Resort Group, which included the Luxor. Tim Evans, Director of Marketing at the Luxor, came over to the Luxor at that time from New York New York. The Director of Marketing prior to Tim began reaching out to the LGBT community. The Luxor was the first large property to target the LGBT community. The Luxor is listed first at gaycities.com as the highest During the first couple of years, the Luxor received some negative rated gay-friendly hotel in La Vegas. feedback (although it was rare). Times have changed and they no 76 | Las Vegas PRIDE Magazine
longer hear those comments. The party has hosted groups like Prime Timers (older gentlemen), Protect and Defend (LGBTQ members of Police, Fire, etc), Big Gay Men and Pride 48 (LGBT podcasters). Some of the groups didn’t think the party was for their members but after attending found it to be a great time and their groups enjoyed it and came back. You may ask, “Why do we need a gay pool party in this day and age? Haven’t we assimilated into society?” While that may be true there is still a place for gay pool parties, gay bars and gay events. People have a need and desire to gather with their “tribe”, people like themselves. Perhaps you don’t think a pool party would be your thing for a whole host of reasons, including “I don’t like good in a suit” (really, no one cares and
no one is judging), and “I’m too old”. People of all shapes and sizes attend, as well as people of all ages. If you enjoy a good time and having fun, you are the perfect age to attend. It’s a very chill vibe with people sitting on loungers or standing in the pool chatting it up. Many of the friends I’ve made in Las Vegas I’ve made at the Temptation Sundays pool party. In my opinion, this is the place to be every weekend all summer long. The 2019 season of Temptation Sundays will begin on May 12. As it was last year, the party is from 1 pm – 7 pm with a soft opening at 12 noon. The 10th Anniversary celebration will take place in July, coinciding with J.Son’s birthday celebration (an annual theme party). Temptation Sundays runs through Labor Day but, weather permitting, could run as late as the end of September or the first weekend of October. If you’ve never been, come give it a try this year. All are welcome and all have a great time! Look for me. I’m there almost every Sunday.

ENTOURAGE VEGAS By Steven Mitchell Bathhouses can be traced back as early as 2500 BC in present day Pakistan. They were a part of many cultures, including Roman, Turkish, Grecian, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Native American and Finnish cultures (to name a few). They had various uses throughout history. They were places of religious purification. In Rome they were a vital part of societal life. Men and women, rich and poor, would gather, bathe naked together and socialize. Bathhouses could be segregated by male and female or mixed. They were places to eat, drink and arrange sexual encounters. Bathhouse continue to exist around the world today. In Europe they are social places where one can indulge in drinks, dinners, and teas in addition to play areas.
However, many places are starting to have multi-gender nights. While Entourage is for men only, one never knows what will change as our culture and communities evolve.
Entourage has been undergoing several upgrades recently. For starters, the gym has new cardio equipment and new lighting. More upgrades (such as new padding) is coming. The pool and jacuzzi have been completely resurfaced. The smoking lounge/Park area have been redone to be more conducive to socializing. Additional upgrades include expanding the steam room, expanded community spaces and significant improvements to the private rooms. All of them have TVs now (most of which are flat screens). Larger deluxe rooms are Las Vegas has a bathhouse, as well. also available. Entourage, located in the Commercial Center shopping mall, is a member Customer safety is #1. Entourage is an open door in the intangibles – a place that you can hang out with your friends. It is not always about the sex. There is a workout room, jacuzzi, pool, sauna and steam room. It is a space where you can be your authentic self. You can dress as you like. It is a place where the male-presenting Trans community is welcome. The modern American bathhouse has historically been a “men only” space. Las Vegas PRIDE Magazine | 121
