BILL COLLECTOR A bill collector knocked on the door of a country debtor. “Is Fred home?” he asked the woman who answered the door. “Sorry,” the woman replied. “Fred’s gone for cotton.” The next day the collector tried again. “Is Fred here today?” “No, sir,” she said, “I’m afraid Fred has gone for cotton.” When he returned the third day he humphed, “I suppose Fred is gone for cotton again,?” “No,” the woman answered solemnly, ”Fred died yesterday.” Suspicious that he was being avoided, the collector decided to wait a week and investigate the cemetery himself. But sure enough, there was poor Fred’s tombstone, with this inscription: “Gone, But Not for Cotton.”

workman was killed at a construction site. The police began questioning a number of the other workers. Based with past brushes with the law, many of these workers were considered prime suspects. They were a motley crew: The electrician was suspected of wiretapping once but was never charged. The carpenter thought he was a stud. He tried to frame another man one time. The glazier went to great panes to conceal his past. He still claims that he didn't do anything; that he was framed The painter had a brush with the law several years ago. The heating, ventilation and air conditioning contractor was known to pack heat. He was arrested once but duct the charges. The mason was suspect because he gets stoned regularly. The cabinet maker is an accomplished counter fitter. The autopsy led the police to arrest the carpenter, who subsequently confessed. The evidence against him was irrefutable, because it was found that the workman, when he died, was hammered.

big-city lawyer was representing the
railroad in a lawsuit filed by an old rancher. The rancher's prize bull was missing from the section through which the railroad passed. The rancher only wanted to be paid the fair value of the bull. The case was scheduled to be tried before the justice of the peace in the back room of the general store. The attorney for the railroad immediately cornered the rancher and tried to get him to settle out of court. The lawyer did his best selling job, and finally the rancher agreed to take half of what he was asking.

Don’t let this happen to you… My boss phoned me today, he said, "Is everything okay at the office?" I said, "Yes, it's all under control. It's been a very busy day, I haven't stopped." "Can you do me a favor?" he asked. I said, "Of course, what is it?" Speed it up a little, I'm in the foursome behind you."
After the rancher had signed the release and took the check, the young lawyer couldn't resist gloating a little over his success, telling the rancher, "You know, I hate to tell you this, old man, but I put one over on you in there. I couldn't have won the case. The engineer was asleep and the fireman was in the caboose when the train went through your ranch that morning. I didn't have one witness to put on the stand. I bluffed you!" The old rancher replied, "Well, I'll tell you, young feller, I was a little worried about winning that case myself, because that durned bull came home this morning."

Word Origination
As a young boy, I used to climb out my bedroom window and walk across the roof to a place where my father mounted a Weather Vain. The old fashioned provincial one. The Rooster with the arrow on the front and feather on the back. I would imagine that wind came from somewhere far away, was now here and going somewhere else. Then I noticed the wind direction markers North East West South. I realized that spelled NEWS. That was when I understood and discovered that word’s origin.

fter starting a new diet I altered my drive to work to avoid passing my favorite bakery. Unfortunately, I accidentally drove by the bakery this morning anyway. As I approached, there in the window were a host of goodies. I felt this was no accident, so I prayed, "Lord, it's up to you, if you want me to have any of those delicious goodies, create a parking place for me directly in front of the bakery." Sure enough, on the eighth time around the block, there it was! You know, GOD IS SO GOOD! "Moses came down with the Ten Amendments, which were God's Bill of Wrongs." Susie F., age 7

preacher had a deacon in his church who had a bad habit of cussing. In his attempt to help the deacon overcome this terrible habit, the preacher decided he should spend some personal time with him. So, he invited him to go fishing. They were both out in a boat and had their lines in the water when the preacher hooked a big one. He worked it for a long time and finally got the fish up to the edge of the boat when the line broke and the fish got away. Thoroughly disgusted, the preacher looked over and said, "Deacon, something needs to be said.

Dale Medical Center Awarded Healthcare Organization of the Month Dale Medical Center (DMC) has been awarded the Healthcare Organization of the Month for March 2014 by the Studer Group. The Studer Group is an outcomes firm that implements evidencebased leadership systems that help hundreds of organizations obtain and sustain outstanding results in clinical, operational and service excellence. This distinction is awarded only to those healthcare organizations across the United States that demonstrate marked improvements in patient satisfaction, employee workplace experience as well as reinvesting back into their respective communities. Dale Medical Center is an eighty nine (89) bed rural acute care community hospital that also provides 24 hour Emergency Room service in Ozark Alabama. Since its inception in 1952, Dale Medical Center has grown from being just an acute care hospital to include an Ambulatory Surgery Center, STATMED Urgent Care Clinic, Therapy Plus Outpatient Rehab, Community Hospice, Home Health Agency, multiple physician practices, and a 25 bed Geriatric and Adult Behavioral Health Unit. Dale Medical Center began a renewed journey and focus directed at providing their patients and their families an excellent experience in November 2012 when they partnered with the Studer Group. desired pace and lacked sustainability as focus shifted within the organization. Through extensive staff training and implementation of new processes and behaviors within the organization, great improvements have been realized over the last year. Because processes and systems are being “hardwired” within the organization and consistently practiced Dale Medical Center has realized sustained double digit increases in their outcome scores. “This award serves as an acknowledgement of the unified efforts by DMC’s physicians and employees to take our hospital to a higher level of care. It is exciting to see the increased engagement of our staff as we transform into a culture of always and not optionality. A hospital administrator once said that some members of a community might feel that the hospital in the next town is better than the local hospital. Our staff won’t accept that opinion and are committed, that given the opportunity, we will deliver the type of care we all would want and expect – for ourselves and for our families,” said Vernon Johnson, CEO. Among the practices being hardwired resulting in improved outcomes include: · Hourly Rounding on their patients. · Utilizing Key Words at Key times for improved communications. · Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explain, and Thank You is practiced with each patient encounter. · Quarterly Leadership Development Institutes for professional development and growth. · Employee Development Institutes for professional development and growth. · Quarterly Staff Townhall Meetings improved communications within the organization. · Implementation of LEM (Leadership Evaluation Manager) for improved accountability. · Scheduled Monthly Meetings with all leaders to monitor progress towards organizational goals and improved communication. · Employee Appreciation Events. · Employee Recognition.

Dale Medical Center has been and will continue to strive to go above and beyond to connect with our patient’s priorities and achieve service excellence. The ultimate goal is to make healthcare better for the people of the community; and a better workplace for employees and for the physicians who practice at the hospital. Areas of dramatic improvement over the past year include: Improved Patient Care · Reduction in falls from 16.9 to 3.79 per 1000 patient days. · Reduction in unplanned readmissions from 19.61% to 8.59% · Improved from 20 core quality measures at 100% to 37 core quality measures at 100%.

“Being selected as the Healthcare Organization of the Month is a great honor earned by every member of our team,” said Johnson. “We are fortunate to have a talented, professional staff and physicians that strive to continually achieve outstanding clinical outcomes and high patient satisfaction scores. This award marks the beginning of greater things to come. We have made great improvements, but we have so much more we want to accomplish. On behalf of the staff and physicians of DMC, we are deeply honored to have been chosen as the Studer Group's Healthcare Organization of the Month," says Johnson.

t a fabric store, a pretty girl spots a nice material for a dress and asks the male clerk: How much does it costs? “Only one kiss per yard,” replied the male clerk with a smirk. “That’s fine,” said the girl. I’ll take ten yards.” With expectation and anticipation written all over his face, the clerk quickly measured out the cloth, wrapped it up, and then teasingly held it out. The girl took the bag and pointed to the old man standing beside her, and smiled, “Grandpa will pay the bill.”

Laughs&Lifts is a great work-from-home business opportunity for people with sales, marketing, publishing, or business experience!
My church just had our annual wild game supper. We do this every year as part of our men’s ministry. We decided to do something different this year and have a bow tournament. It was a fun time of fellowship and some friendly competition. A friend of mine from church said something that I had on my mind for some time. He said we could use these tournaments for a great outreach program. I thought to myself how many times I have seen us as a church using the outdoors as an outreach tool. I have used it for what I do on my own. What I mean is for us we fine that a lot of our outdoor events bring in mostly church members. There is nothing wrong with getting together cooking, having some kind of tournament to compete in and have good fellowship while building strong relationships. I think the church needs to reach out more to the community. The outdoors is a good way of doing that. It is all about spreading the gospel and discipline others. I have been to brotherhood meals and have sit and listen to some pretty powerful speakers. Some of us have brought someone to these events that don’t go to church on a regular basis but for the most part the focus has not been out reach. The churches focus needs to be on reaching out to the community. I can tell you a story about some outdoor adventure I had and how I shared it with my boys or others. I can even tie it to some scripture. That encourages you and makes you think. There is nothing wrong with that but what am I doing or saying to challenge you to be a godly man and to share your faith. Are we as the church sharing our faith and reaching out to others. This conviction has been on my heart lately. I’m not trying to bash the church. I’m looking deep in my heart and looking at my convictions and this is what I see. I see that we focus too much on ministering to each other. Again ministering to each other is not a bad thing but while we do this there is a dying world around us with no hope. We as Christians have the answer and are not sharing it with others. We just figure that the people that we come in contact with have heard the gospel. If you don’t believe what I am saying, then ask yourself this question. How long has it been since you have shared the gospel with someone? I can say for me it has been too long. So this is my challenge to you. Share the hope that Jesus gave you and don’t be ashamed of it. Let us as the church reach out and not reach in as much. We need to help each other with our problems but we also need to challenge each other be godly men and lead by example. The outdoors whether it is hunting, fishing, or camping is a good tool to use to reach out. It is a good common ground to bring men together and share the gospel. My passion is the outdoors but I need to be more passionate about sharing Christ with others. I’m T.J. with Trails to God’s Great Outdoors. Get outside and enjoy God’s wonder. I’ll see you on the trail.

Some people dream of great accomplishments, while others stay awake and do them.
CORNER-STONE
By Wallace Kennedy, Jr
T
he cornerstone (or foundation stone) concept is derived from the first stone set in the construction of a masonry foundation, important since all other stones will be set in reference to this stone, thus determining the position of the entire structure. According to the grace of God, we all are like skillful architects and master builders. We must be careful, how we build upon the already established foundation. We are instructed in 1 Corinthians 3:11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have—Jesus Christ. Also Ephesians 2:20 says… Jesus Christ himself being the Chief Corner Stone. When our lives are governed by the Word of God, “Christ-Centered”, then tested by the storms of life we will be able to weather the storms because we are on a firm (sol-
id) foundation. Our marriages, relationships, children, finances, vocations, and behaviors are all aligned with the Chief Corner Stone, and cannot be destroyed. Without a corner stone the structure (building) will be crooked, out of alignment and will fall down when the storms/trails/tests of life beat thereon. Four ways we can build and have a firm foundation: (1) Apply the Word of God to our lives daily. (2) Give sacrificially, forgive willingly, and love with diligent, and unrestricted. (3) Use your gifts to glorify the Lord. The Holy Spirit has equipped every believer to serve the Lord. (4) Share the GOSPEL. Telling others about Jesus Christ is the greatest service that we can offer to God and to our fellow man/woman/child. Be encouraged to start, or keep building, inevitably a storm will come.

Did you know? That it is almost spring? And with Spring comes baseball, softball and soccer for the kids. The reason I bring this up is that occasionally we'll see a ball take a bad bounce and end up hitting a player in the mouth. Sometimes a tooth will be avulsed which means "knocked out". If that happens, it is very important to keep the tooth moist in a cup or baggie. Preferrably in a pH-correct solution such as Save-a-Tooth that can be found at most drug stores. It should be a part of a coach's complete first aid kit. If that is not available, the next best options are in this order: milk, saline, or water. Do not attempt to scrape off any debris. The critical element is getting to the dentist as soon as possible. The sooner the tooth can be put back in position, the better the chance of the tooth's survival (Under an hour is preferable). Did you ALSO know? In a USA Today survey, The things people first notice about a person are: Smile 47%, Eyes 31%, Smell 11%, Clothes 7%, and Hair 4% of the time. I guess I'm in the right business! Until next month,
