May - “Stone Fox” by John Reynolds Gardine: Based on a Rocky Mountain legend, “Stone Fox” tells the story of Little Willy, who lives with his grandfather in Wyoming. When grandfather falls ill, he is no longer able to work the farm, which is in danger of foreclosure.

June - “Rules” by Cynthia Lord: This Newbery Medal winning book is a heartfelt and witty story about feeling different and finding acceptance, beyond the rules. Twelve-year-old Catherine just wants a normal life. Which is near impossible when you have a brother with autism and a family that revolves around his disability.
