The Common E2 It’s not every day you get to gaze upon architectural sketches while you sip on your morning coffee, but that’s exactly what you can do at The Common E2 – a new café, co-work space and architecture design studio in Bethnal Green. The concept brings a new creative environment to London, and with great coffee and food, it’s a perfect place to hold meetings, catch up on work, or simply hangout with friends.

Rouge. A place of discovery Tucked along Stoke Newington High Street is Rouge. Deceptively large once inside, Rouge is a bona fide treasure trove of beautiful objects. What originally began with carefully sourced and restored vintage chests from China has grown into a mecca of homewares, textiles and unique items. Owned and run by Lei, a Beijing native who has called London her home for the last two decades, her passion for wellcrafted pieces is evident throughout the store.

is a fashion design graduate and has a longstanding passion for the art and design of China and other Asian cultures. Her passion and knowledge are evident as she talks through various pieces in the shop – another notable beauty is the range of mirror boxes from China that feature traditional motifs and a clever folding mechanism. One of Lei’s favourites is a selection of ‘basket weave’ blankets, which have an intricate woven pattern, designed by an American, Paulette Rollo, and made in Scotland, yet which fit the largely oriental aesthetic. For those with a shortage of space for ‘more stuff’ Rouge also hosts regular workshops and events.
