Life, her ar t and after

text Amerens Hedwich concept & design Amerens Hedwich Tjikkie Kreuger (1941-2017), artist in many forms. After studying at the applied arts school in Leeuwarden, Tjikkie moves to the south of the country. She soon works in her own characteristic style and exchanges clay for bronze because it allows her to better shape her feelings. From the early nineties she has been commissioned for sculptures in public spaces, such as Eindhoven Airport and the Elkerliek Hospital in Helmond. She travels through the Sahara, visits special prehistoric places, makes drawings, paintings and beautiful “world necklaces” including old mummy beads. The connection with Egypt can be seen, amongst other things, on her coffin that she painted herself 30 years before her death. Death is a much discussed topic, reflected in her life, work and living space. She spoke with mild wisdom and she said she was on earth to learn. Many are inspired by her work and insights. This biography gives an insight into her life from the cradle to the grave. Amerens Hedwich is the daughter of Tjikkie Kreuger.
