ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Selection criteria is flexible depending on qualifications and/or experience, but you will need to be in employment. Most candidates will have A levels (or equivalent) or existing relevant qualifications. Without formal qualifications, candidates may be accepted by showing a portfolio and having work experience at Level 3 or being currently employed in the sector. Engineering manufacturing technicians provide specialist technical support for engineers across a range of sectors, such as automotive, marine, aerospace and land systems. They allow organisations to develop by testing products, procedures and processes to meet customer quality, and driving efficiency and quality. Each year, roughly 124,000 engineering manufacturing technicians are recruited, so this apprenticeship is built with industry demands in mind. Over the two years, you will sharpen your research gathering and data analysis by producing and updating technician reports, whilst undertaking decision-making and problem-solving tasks to further develop core skills. You will also formulate technician documentation suitable for internal and external audiences, detailing how products should be designed, manufactured, tested, modified, maintained, stored and transported, as well as commissioned or decommissioned.
