ENTRY REQUIREMENTS The selection criteria for apprenticeships will depend on individual employers. Most candidates will have A levels (or equivalent) in childcare or a related field, along with industry employment.

WHAT’S NEXT? Progression may include further study at Level 6 or 7. This apprenticeship will prepare you for a challenging yet rewarding career as a healthcare play specialist, where you can take responsibility for the emotional and mental wellbeing of children through the use of play therapy. By the end of the apprenticeship, you will have sharpened your knowledge of supporting child development, enhancing resilience in children and young people, minimising trauma through therapeutic play and using play as a therapeutic tool. You will also develop your communication and interpersonal skills by working with children, families and peers. Healthcare play specialists can gain professional registration with the Hospital Play Staff Education Trust (HPSET). You can complete this apprenticeship while studying for the Healthcare Play Specialism Foundation Degree. Please see the qualification pages for entry criteria to the specific academic award.

Our foundation year is ideal for those who don’t meet the entry requirements for the full LLB (Hons) degree. It helps you acquire legal knowledge and discover specialisms that spark your passion, all while building on your academic skills. On completion of the foundation year, you will automatically be admitted on to the LLB (Hons) degree programme, and offered a 50% discount on your fourth year fees. In your third year, you will have the choice of two routes which include a set of optional modules. These are ‘Step Up to SQE’, designed to teach key content and assessment methods for the SQE Stage 1 assessments, and a second route which focuses on criminology and criminal studies. During your fourth year, you can complete optional modules linked to the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) Graduate Fast-Track Diploma and join CILEx as a graduate member to achieve an industryrecognised qualification with no extra study.
