HELLO AND WELCOME Welcome to our very first quarterly programme, we’re very excited to be sharing it with you and we look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events. Our theme for the year is ‘movement’ which we will continue to explore across our programme of arts and events that includes: art exhibitions in the Porch Gallery (with opening events, artist talks and guided reflections), art installations, cinema screenings, talks and a new weekly yoga class. We continue to offer free space for co-working on Wednesdays and Thursdays, monthly afternoon teas, and we are also launching a monthly Clubs Night where we will host a range of different volunteer led clubs from books clubs to craft clubs. If you’ve got an idea for a club that you would like to lead, please do get in touch to apply.
We continue to seek new ways to inspire and empower both audiences and artists through the development of our programme. If you would like to follow us on our journey please join us on social media. @leftbankleeds

JANUARY REFLECTION: INSPIRED BY ART SUNDAY 7 JANUARY 2-3PM FREE (PLEASE RSVP) During this session we will create an environment of calm, encouraging you to connect with both the art and yourself as you re-centre and learn to be fully present in the moment. This guided reflection, drawing on ancient traditions of prayer and meditation, will take the exhibition ‘These Northern Types’ as a starting point, asking how our sense of self is shaped by our world and the people around us.
GALLERY TALK: THESE NORTHERN TYPES THURSDAY 11 JANUARY 7PM-9PM £5/£4 CONC. These Northern Types is a typographic exploration of Northern identity, bringing together type design, experimental production methods, public engagement, and written word to ask some big, and sometimes awkward, questions about who we are as Northerners. Join us as the panel give their opinions on what it means to be a Northerner in a globalised world, set against the backdrop of this insightful exhibition. Doors open at 7pm and the talk starts at 7:30pm. BEGINNERS’ KNITTING COURSE WEDNESDAY 17 JANUARY-21 FEBRUARY 7PM-9PM £40/£35 CONC. If you’ve ever wanted to learn to knit then now’s the time with this six week beginners’ course. You’ll learn the basics of knitting including casting on, casting off, knit, purl, stocking and garter stitch, and a range of finishing techniques whilst learning how to knit your very own pom pom hat. All materials are included.

REFLECTION: INSPIRED BY ART SUNDAY 4 MARCH 2-3PM FREE (PLEASE RSVP) Join us for a guided reflection to help you connect with both the art and yourself, encouraging you to slow down, re-centre and be fully present in the moment. ‘X’ brings together a decade of work responding to global events. This guided reflection, drawing on ancient traditions of prayer and meditation, will take the exhibition as a starting point for thinking about how we locate ourselves in the world and respond to the often turbulent times we live in.
