Welcome to the Board, Mr. Wood

Welcome to the Board, Mr. Johnson

I’m incredibly excited to join the Board of Trustees, to serve a school that has taken such excellent care of my children for the past 13 years.

—NICK JOHNSON

Legacy Christian Academy is pleased to welcome Nick Johnson to the Board of Trustees. Mr. Johnson is the owner of Lakes Tennis Academy, in Frisco, which has been recognized by the USTA as one of the best private clubs and junior tennis programs in America.

His devotion to tennis developed at a young age and has remained constant. After spending thousands of hours training on the court, Nick was offered a tennis scholarship to play at Oral Roberts University, in Tulsa. His excitement to play Division I tennis was quashed during his freshman year, when he was diagnosed with leukemia. Nick underwent a lifesaving bone marrow transplant at Baylor Medical Center; just 30 days later, doctors proclaimed that he was cured.

Determined to continue his pursuit of a career in tennis, he moved to the University of North Texas, where he earned a degree in club and resort management. He spent eight years as a tennis pro at Northwood Club, in Dallas, before making his move to Lakes Tennis Academy.

Mr. Johnson has served on the Dallas Professional Tennis Association Board of Directors for seven years. He also works with the Team Connor Foundation for an annual tennis fund-raiser to benefit childhood-cancer research. Nick and Salina have been married for 21 years. They have three children: Blake ’22, Callie ’24, and Addy ’26, all of whom have attended Legacy since Pre-K. The family enjoy boating, biking, skiing, and taking their dachshund to the wiener dog races. The Johnsons have attended Preston Trail Community Church for 14 years.
