The Jæren region has the richest avifauna in Norway. About 400 species have been recorded, placing Norway’s southwestern most county as one of the best birding spots anywhere in Europe. This birding holiday, is fully guided and also offers trips from Stavanger harbour, reaching the archipelagos and seabirds all the year around, with trips out to Lindøy and Langøy islands.

DAY 1

Arrive in Stavanger on Thursday

On arrival at Stavanger Airport Sola, guests will be greeted and transferred on the short journey to their hotel of choice.

DAY 2

Birding on the Archipelago on Friday

Following breakfast, your guide will accompany you into Stavanger for a short city tour before heading out on a boat trip to Lindøy and Langøy islands. You can bird watch on the way, where there are White Tailed Eagles and an abundance of other birds.

DAY 3

Birding in Jæren on Saturday

Following breakfast, your guide will collect you and your day of birding will begin on the Jæren.

Expect to see hordes of arctic waders. In the breaks and sheltered bays dabbling and diving ducks share territory with divers, grebes, auks and cormorants. Small fishing harbours along the coast are favourite haunts for large numbers of gulls.

Your guide will also take you into the “JærWoods” with Yellow-browed Warbler, Pallas` Warbler, Citrine Wagtail in abundance.

In autumn the conifer and spruce plantations are alive with crossbills, different tits, woodpeckers, owls, nutcrackers and pine grosbeaks. Black woodpecker, Tengmalms owl, Great eagle owl and Grey headed woodpecker are all recorded in this area.

Your guide will accompany you to lunch, before more birding and your return back to your hotel.

DAY 4

Back to Jæren on Sunday

Following breakfast and depending on the itinerary set by your bird guide, you will spend another day birding the Jæren coast and also check out some of the special sites along the way. Lunch will be taken at a local café, before returning to your hotel for dinner.

DAY 5

Departure on Monday

Following breakfast guests will transfer back to Stavanger Airport Sola.
