This self-drive package comes with your own set of maps and has been especially designed to offer our adventure hungry clients a stunningly beautiful road trip delivering truly outstanding routes into spectacular landscapes, like of which can only be found in Stavanger and western Norway.

DAY 1

Arrive Stavanger on Thursday

On arrival at Stavanger Airport Sola, guests will be greeted and you will collect your car rental and transferred on the short journey to your hotel. Following check in, guests are invited to meet and greet drinks where your tour guide will give a short presentation of your tour.

For dinner, guests will dine at Renaa Matbaren, one of Stavanger’s best bistro’s where the finest meat and fish delicacies are specially prepared and chargrilled to form a selection of exquisite recipes.

DAY 2

Guided City Tour & Egersund Road Trip on Friday

Following breakfast, you will check out of your hotel ahead of taking on a short city guided tour of Stavanger taking in the main city attractions, including the “Street of Colours”

Stavanger Cathedral and the Valberg Tower. After coffee at Chilli Chocolate, you will begin the first part of your road trip adventure.

Off to Egersund

The first part of your road trip begins where on leaving Stavanger, you will take the wonderful drive on the Norwegian National Scenic Route Jæren Highway 44. The route hugs the coastline and offers the chance to stop off and see the Varhaug Church, among the smallest churches in Norway, and Kvassheim lighthouse, one of the many lighthouses along the coast of Jæren. The route takes you through the spectacular Magma UNESCO Global Geopark, offering incredible scenery, with numerous stop off points offering stunning photography opportunities.

You will take in the Trollpikken rock formation, before heading to try your hand at Coasteering, the natures own fun park. You will go out into the ocean in wetsuit, shoes, helmet and vest to explore the sea and climb rock formations and jump off from cliffs. A thrilling experience!

Afterwards you will arrive in Egersund and check into the Grand Hotel Egersund, a historic classical hotel founded in the 1800's. The hotel is a member of the Historic Hotels of Norway and is a key feature of the town owing to its central location and stand out architectural presence. Egersund is steeped in history and is one of the best natural harbours in Norway and a leading fishing port.

In the evening and back at the Grand Hotel, guests can enjoy drinks in The Grand Wine Cellar, a classy and atmospheric lounge and piano bar followed by a wonderful dinner at the Eigra kitchen & bar where you will be treated to an excellent menu of local cuisine.

DAY 3

Road Trip Spectacular on FV500 Lysebotn Pass

Following breakfast, you will check out and head out on the E39 highway heading back towards Stavanger. At Vikeså, you will turn right onto the FV503, a stunning road that takes you to the Gloppedalsura, an incredible rock scree which was the scene of an epic WW2 battle between the Norwegian and German soldiers.

Next you pass by Byrkjedalstunet, which has been described as a miniature version of Norway. The site includes a charming country hotel, a restaurant that serves traditional Norwegian cuisine, and a small-scale candle factory that also serves as an outlet for local artisans.

Your journey then takes you through incredible mountain scenery on the FV975, offering views as good as you will find anywhere in Europe.

You will head further north, before turning off onto FV986 heading towards Lysebotn. This is another scenic stretch of road that transforms into FV500, an incredible winding road with 27 hairpin turns that takes you on an amazing journey down to Lysebotn, where you can stop off relax and enjoy the mazing scenery.

You can drive back to Stavanger or choose to take the journey back to Stavanger by car ferry and cruise down beautiful Lysefjord taking in views of Pulpit Rock. The journey back to Stavanger is via Lauvvik which takes three hours, where you will check back into the Clarion Hotel for dinner. The ferry departs at 3:30pm

DAY 4

Departure on Monday

Following breakfast guests will head out to Stavanger Airport Sola for return of rental car and check-in
