Foreword
A well designed, confident and consistent visual identity is highly effective in communicating the strengths of our organisation. It is essential that the Hong Kong Heritage Museum maintains a high standard for co-ordinated design in every aspect of our operations. This document details all graphics and signs that are to be applied to Records of Hong Kong.

1. Logo standards
Basic form This is the basic form of the Records of Hong Kong logo. The proportions, colours and the exact letter-form, size and spacing of the lettering are unalterable. Reproduction Reproduction of the logo should be made using Hong Kong Heritage Museumapproved logo artwork only. No attempt should be made to the typeset or render it by any other means.
Records of Hong Kong Design Standards
1.1 Background areas
The immediate area around the logo, as indicated by the dotted line on the illustration to the right, must be kept free of any other elements of any kind – for example lettering, posters, architectural features, decorative devices and so on.

1.2 Structural frame
When a structural frame is used, this should be in proportion to the sign size and be centred on the symbol perimeter line.

1.3 Background colours
Ideally, the logo should be placed on a white rectangle background. In practice, this will not always be possible, eg when incorporating the logo with different publication materials, background colour and logo can vary as listed on the right. It is not permissible to vary from the paring match.

2. Colours

3.2 Line Spacing
Line spacing is based on the height of the lower case letter ‘x’. One point eight(1.8) ‘x’ is the standard minimum between two lines of information. When information in more than one size of lettering is used, the larger ‘x’ height should be used to separate the two lines of differing size. The smaller letter size is normally two third(2/3) of the larger size.
