LETTER FROM Dragooooons!!! February is finally past us... one more month closer to the end of the term. In order to avoid speaking about the senior class' impending end, let's talk about what we CAN do. In the meantime, please stay in touch with your home clubs and be as active as you can!! In the heat of board elections and *an upcoming DLT Application*, you want to stay on point and prove to others that you are the leader you speak out to be!! Here is to another incredible month!!! I love you Dragons!!!

Hey dragons! Sad to say, I can’t believe this term is coming to an end. I’m extremely proud of the service we have all implemented into our community. All your hard work and effort never goes unnoticed. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the term holds for us all! -Leslie Casillas, DNE

Tet Fes Last week, I got the chance to go to the Tet Festival, which was very fun. I was able to help with the parade and support by holding the flag during the march. We walked for a while, but I was able to do it with my friends, making the task not as grueling. As well as seeing my current friends with me, I also saw many other of my friends from past SAT classes, school, Key Club, and scouts! I was amused at how many of my friends actually went and celebrated it. After the morning had been completed with the task, I spent the rest of the day at the festival. In addition to getting to spend time with my friends, I got to walk around the festival and see all the vibrant colors of the area. It was a very nice scene to come across, and the food was very good. I saw many people wearing long Vietnamese dresses of different shades, which really lit up the area. Even the guys were wearing it. During the night-time, the carnival was opened with illuminated lights. It was amazing. Aside from the volunteer work in the morning, the festival itself is what made my day great. Just to see how much effort people put in to preserve the cultural works of Tet has really allowed me to realize how grateful I am to be a part of this community.

Our January DCM was one of my favorite ones of the term. Ocean View Key Club played a special role by being the only club in our division to fundraise for the Kiwanis Family House, which is the District Project Jumpstart. We decided to sell soft drinks and donuts to the DCM attendees. Our club raised the most profit out of all the clubs that sold food, with $86 in profit! I am very proud to close off my 2019-20 term with a successful DCM fundraiser, and I hope to leave the club with a sufficient amount of funds for the upcoming term. In regards to the DCM, it made me happy to see members from all three divisions bonding over singing karaoke, playing icebreakers, and packaging care kits for the Kiwanis Family House. The Lt. Governors did an excellent job of dispersing their members, and facilitating interactions between divisions. My favorite memory was screaming Big Time Rush songs on the sidelines. I had a lot of fun at this DCM!

LETTERS TO SOLDIERS Godinez Key Club wrote letters to send to active soldiers in correspondence with Operation Gratitude. Our members came by after school and wrote heartfelt letters to express their gratitude for these brave individuals who work hard to ensure our safety. During this event, we wrote letters while vibing to music and having fun conversations with one another. This activity not only promotes inclusiveness and bonding, but it also allows people of all ages to give thanks to some of our nation’s heroes.
