WHAT'S POPPIN', DRAGONS? Another month in quarantine, and the days must feel like they are beginning to bleed into each other. However, despite our inability to meet in person, our division is continuing to show our commitment to serving our homes, schools, and communities. One virtual event at a time! For the month of April, we were able to host a division-wide service week and end off with a virtual service event. Not only were we able to share the importance of practicing social distancing and taking safety precautions when out in public, but we were also able to recognize those at the front lines of this pandemic: our healthcare workers. Walking into this next month, we have to realize that these circumstances may not be changing for a while. Little by little, our contributions to the community will accumulate into something truly meaningful. And it all starts with you! Every morning, I would look forward to going on Instagram to scroll through all the Instagram stories during our division service week. Did you know that, on average, we would have 60+ participants for each day?? The amount of fire and creativity within this division is insane, and I can't wait to see you all take the time to break the assumption that students are doing "nothing" during these times by finding ways to lend a helping hand to others or to take better care of yourself. I love you all so much! I can't wait to end the month of May with a new Division Leadership Team on my side to continue making Key Club and Division 4 West a great organization to be a part of. Make sure to tune into our May DCM to see the results of our DLT and t-shirt design! I can promise you that it's something you wouldn't want to miss.

KCABELDDAS

Karen Nguyen

As an upcoming junior from Saddleback, I have been in Key Club since freshman year and I grow to love it more and more. Every person I met in Division 4 West had made me truly thankful to be a part of the family. Every memory has been unforgettable and helped me grow for the better. I hope I can give back to the club just as much as it has given to me. Although I tend to be quiet, our big family has so many amazing people and I can't wait to get to know the rest. I hope more and more people get the chance to love Key Club just as much.

BLAZING FOR SERVICE MARCUS ONOFRE, GODINEZ

The month of April has been a rollercoaster for Godinez Key Club. This month was filled with something none of us have ever experienced before. Service under quarantine. The pandemic of COVID-19 struck the world and now society struggles to adjust and adapt to its new circumstances. Quarantine has not stopped Key Club although, as in the month of April, we held many successful events of our “Blaze for Service service week, and several other individual club events. These events were very successful as we were able to have high participation and have those members participate to be able to serve a large amount of hours and love in our world.! Our club has put in many hours, and our members continue to give back to their community even in this time. Due to the current global pandemic, COVID-19 our term has slowly come to its end, and the new term has begun, but Key Club continues to symbol a haven of hope, service, and community.

SERVANTINE ANH NGUYEN, OCEAN VIEW Servantine was our very first online service checklist, amid the CoronaVirus Pandemic! While it was unfortunate that we were no longer going to get together for community service events, this checklist was a great way for everyone to stay involved with the club in the safety of their own home. It was so cool to see everyone still participate and interested in Key Club even when we are in the middle of a pandemic. We made sure to offer both short and long activities in order for more people to participate. They could either receive one hour of community service or two hours depending on what they decided to do. These activities had a wide range of purposes from spreading awareness on ways to be safe during this time, to help those in need at hospitals and homeless shelters. While they were simple activities such as doing chores and posting a flyeron social media, during this time I think that we all start to appreciate the little things. We may not realize it but we are still making an impact on others! It’s so incredible to see everyone “come together during this time and support one another! Stay safe everyone and please just stay home!!!

APRIL DCM NICHOLAS MORENO, SEGERSTROM For the month of April, there really wasn’t much that we could have done as a club. We were able to participate in many social media proxy events, which were held on Instagram. Many of our members participated in a “Service Monopoly” and other social events that took place online. We, as a board, are looking forward to the new term and the new memories that we are going to be able to create. As of April, we had our board applications opened so people were able to apply, not only did we receive more than enough members to fit our expectations, but a lot of the board members that applied are also very dedicated and strong members. I am looking forward to the new term with these amazing members that have applied to the multitudes of board positions that were available. In the future months, we will be able to have our new appointed board. For the month of April, we were also able to participate in the April DCM, which was held online for the first time! Mai was able to hold a live stream to all members part of Region3, which showed her resilience and ability to adapt to the environment around her. Overall, these past few months have been filled with a lot of uncertain obligations, but as a region and a club,we will prevail.
