Hey dragons! I hope you’re all enjoying your well deserved break. This month has been a rollercoaster of emotions, but now that finals are done it’s time to enjoy some community service projects! Stay aware of upcoming events by contacting your school club presidents. Have an awesome break! -Leslie Casillas, DNE

Novemb Our November DCM was hosted at La Capilla Park and served as our last Spirit Night. This was an event filled with post-Fally Rally emotions as we all prepared ourselves. The support of our members was shown through all the merch that they brought that day. Throughout the park that was vacant prior to our arrival, we gathered in circles, big and small, as we practiced our chants. I found it amusing how we all whispered the chants quietly, as to save our voices for the next day. We chanted until even after sunset and carried on, using the flashlights from our phones. As the houses surrounding the park wondered what was happening in their park, we ourselves knew that we were gathering up spirit to fight on in the next day. This November DCM / Spirit Night truly showed the dedication of our members and how much they loved Division 4 West.

Edison High School Key Club participated in the Bolsa Chica Wetlands Cleanup where volunteers would clean up the harmful, invasive weeds growing in the area in order to protect the native plants and wildlife in the wetlands. We partnered up with fellow volunteers and extracted weeds that were not native to the area and filled them into trash bags. In the end, the team of volunteers managed to fill dozens of bags with weeds, cleaning a large portion of the wetlands. Not only did the cleanup provide us with the opportunity to learn about the wetlands and the organisms it nurtured, but also the opportunity to meet Key Club members from a multitude of different schools and make a difference in the environment.

CRYSTAL COVE HIKING SOCIAL Hi my name is Chloe Flores and I attended the Crystal Cove Hiking Social with Marina and Fountain Valley Key Club along with members of the Red Cross. At this event, members among these clubs interacted and had a collaborative hike to the peak of one of the mountains in the Crystal Cove State Park. My favorite part of the event was being able to introduce myself and meet other key clubbers from other schools. In my opinion, I think the event was organized perfectly because everything ran smoothly and everyone stayed together even if we were hiking at different paces or whether we took breaks. From my personal opinion, I don’t think there was any room for improvement but it was just difficult for the parents to find a particular drop off zone because of the many paths but other than that, everything was great! Although this event wasn’t exactly an event to learn from but more to socialize, I learned about the many benefits to talk to other people outside of your club or outside of your school. I would definitely attend an event like this again to interact and socialize with people I’m not as fond with in the club.
