Bluetooth Proximity Marketing Systems
PINPOINT MEDIA presents the BLUWAVE BPMS the premier bluetooth proximity marketing system, specially developed to enable brands to connect with consumers by delivering media-rich content straight to their mobile devices.
WHY CHOOSE BLUWAVE? 1. BLUWAVE BPMS is Focused Advertising In an era where brands are struggling to connect with consumers due to an explosion of information and mass advertising flooding the public domain, traditional media such as television have lost their effectiveness in reaching out to consumers. With Bluetooth widely available in personal devices such as mobile phones, MP3 players, handheld game consoles and laptops, BLUWAVE - B.P.M.S offers a strategic form of focused advertising, engaging consumers with the brand directly. 2. BLUWAVE BPMS CAPTURES! Using traditional marketing, your message slips off the viewer, no matter how interesting it is. But now, BLUWAVE - B.P.M.S pastes it diligently onto mobile phones, tagging it along with their users. In effect, you are everywhere, at all times. 3. BLUWAVE’S BPMS “Viral Effect” The marketing impact does not end with the brand message landing in the personal space. Viral spreading of the content by the user through Bluetooth, the mobile network and the Internet multiplies the reach of the brand message many-fold. The beauty of Bluetooth lies in the flexibility it affords to send a broad range of rich digital content including text, images, audio, video, vouchers and games at a low cost to multiple users within a defined radius.
WHO’S DOING IT?
HOW DOES IT WORK? Communication goes through 3 quick & simple steps 1 Device detection: BLUWAVE - B.P.M.S proximity marketing system scans for Bluetooth-enabled devices located in a range up to 100 meters 2 Permission request: for every device BLUWAVE - B.P.M.S sends request for permission of send files 3 Content upload: once user grants permission, BLUWAVE - B.P.M.S sends files
Today, most mobile phones and other handheld computing devices carry the technology. Most users keep their Bluetooth devices powered “on” 24 hours a day. This gives suppliers the upper hand to know that a large population of consumers will be available to receive campaign information at any given time.
BLUEWAVE - BPMS
First, proximity zones are established in heavy traffic areas of a particular target audience. As consumers enter the zones, information is sent from the proximity server directly to the Bluetooth-enabled device, such as a mobile phone. Consumers are then prompted to accept the promotional material, for example, “1 New Message from Joe’s Donut Shop.” It is then the consumer’s decision whether to receive the message or deny it. The information is virus-free and there is no cost to receive the promotional material. If users accept messages, their Bluetooth devices will download the content immediately.

If the user would not like to receive the promotional information, he or she can simply ignore the message and will not be asked again. Each proximity server learns each device name that has been contacted and will not repeat notifications. Consumers have to opt-in to receive marketing content, which includes, but is not limited to, videos, music, pictures, coupons and contact information. Finally, an activity report is derived from the proximity servers to show clients how many consumers took an interest in the marketing campaign.

CASE STUDIES In the US, a Bluetooth proximity marketing campaign had been deployed to promote a major motion picture release. According to Marketwatch, “In just 4 weeks, we deployed in theatres across the country and interacted with over 100,000 mobile devices… The campaign distributed “voicetones” from the movie - 5-15 second audio clips that can be saved and used by consumers for alerts or ringtones - video clips and a calendar reminder that went off the day before the release date. Bluetooth hotspots were in place three weeks prior to the release date and showed steady uptake increases as the movie’s buzz increased…”
I n Stockholm, the largest city and capital of Sweden, Audi has employed Bluetooth to distribute videos of their latest and hottest model, the Audi R8, to devices within proximity. The poster in the picture informs users to turn on their Bluetooth to receive this content. This is a great example of viral marketing where the brand gets passed on by the targeted users to a larger audience
During Def Leppard’s show at Detroit & Joe Louis Arena, multimedia contents such as ringtones, wallpapers and videos were sent to fans around the venue. According to Marketwire, “… We can deploy these campaigns quickly and results are updated throughout the course of the campaign, sponsors love that real engagement, fans love that they can save the content, Def Leppard loved that it brought their legacy to a new generation — a win-win-win. Fans adapt well, understand how to use it and they engage it, with no usage cost, no data plan required, a totally free multimedia experience..” Throughout the night, the campaign intereacted with more than 1648 devices, which amounted to 18% of the audience; and with 62 rejections, 93% of the fans opted in when they were presented with the contents.
