Gen er al Over view The Recreation and Community Programs Department hires approximately 200 seasonal employees and a large number of volunteers each summer and we welcome your interest in our department. The following pages provide a brief description of positions available, qualifications required for each position, starting pay, and approximate dates. Please check your schedule in advance as each position requires a time commitment. Qualified returning staff are given first consideration for positions available an d m u st r eapply by Fr iday, Jan u ar y 7t h . Applicants applying for the first time must submit the application no later than March 1, 2022. All applications received by the deadline will be reviewed. Qualified applicants will be contacted for an interview and scheduled to meet with department staff via Zoom in February or March. Respon sibilit ies: Responsible for overseeing league games for both our summer boys and girls 3v3 basketball league and our coed softball league. Making sure referees, scorekeepers and equipment are on site for each basketball game. Ensuring the coed softball games have an umpire on site and teams are playing within the rules of the league. Will work with the Recreation Supervisor to handle any issues and communicating information that comes up during the games.

Sport clinics offered may include the following: girls basketball, boys basketball, softball, multi-sports, track, street hockey, volleyball, badminton, skateboarding, junior golf, boys lacrosse, and girls lacrosse. Clinics vary from a half-day program (8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) to a full-day program (9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.). * * * Clinic Aide is the position available for all clinics. Applicants may note a particular sport of interest on their application, however, it does not guarantee assignment in that sport. Minimum 21 years of age Demonstrated knowledge of the sport(s) that will be taught and experience working with children in a coaching or teaching position, 3+ years of coaching/teaching experience is preferable Previous supervisory experience in a summer sports program is advantageous Degree in physical education, education, or coaching is preferred Enthusiastic, energetic, and positive Valid First Aid and CPR certification Ability to accommodate and modify activities for children of all abilities
Respon sibilit ies: Responsible for planning, designing, and instructing the sport-specific program and supervising and evaluating staff while ensuring the safety and overall quality of the program and fostering an inclusive program. Sports to be offered include, but are not limited to: badminton, boys basketball, boys lacrosse, floor hockey, girls basketball, girls lacrosse, golf, multi-sports, skateboarding, softball, track & field, and volleyball. Interacts with participants and parents. Works under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Director of Recreation.

Respon sibilit ies: Assists Clinic Coordinator during the one-week sport clinic for elementary and middle school-age children. Provides general supervision of the children, demonstrates various skills and techniques associated with the sport, observes safety regulations, and performs other related duties as needed.
