EVANGELIA MORI
Paradox: Kerameikos School of Architecture - National Technical University of Athens Plastic Arts 6, course 2010-2011
Stages of emotional effects
Location:Kerameikos’ Promenade, Athens, Greece. Concept: The relaxation’s satisfaction from the ordinary routine and the saturated is translated through the creation of a different, paradoxical aspect of the area of Kerameikos in Athens. This is achieved with the augmented reality technology, as the passerby has the ability to play a peculiar video game. Through his smartphone, the player is connected with a specific application and wanders into the weird reconfigured area of Kerameikos. With the embodiment of the augmented reality’s fake level and the surrounding reality, a paradoxical route is synthesized, where the characteristics of all the repetitive elements of Kerameiko’s area are converted into the remains of a paradox parallel world. For his path to continue and his monotony to be eliminated, the wanderer has to answer some questions, the answers of which are hidden into the fake reality he is experiencing. The imagination is the main protagonist of this process and the player continues his wandering, weaving all the collected data of his journey, real and not, into a conclusion data base of his own, for his future potential recall and thoughts. 3
