WELCOME Letter From The Editors The Stegela Success Mastery Team
When was the last time you took a moment to just take a breathe and turn off the never-ending ‘what-if’ gears churning in your mind? When was the last time you took a second to appreciate the meal you were having? Not just how good it tasted, but truly appreciate it. Appreciate the farmer who labored over the grains that were then hand cooked by a man who dedicated his life to making people smile with his food. Appreciate the cow whose meat will give your body sustenance for the next few hours and help your body to restore the essential nutrients and proteins it needs. Appreciate the soil in the ground that cultivated the vegetables on your plate that will help to give your mind clarity and focus throughout the next few hours. Appreciate the restaurant owner who followed his passion for opening a diner to provide people with a place they could comfortably enjoy a fresh meal. Appreciate the clean water in your glass that you didn’t have to walk 20 miles in the desert barefoot to get. Appreciate the people around you who share the same interests as you and the same desire to step out and try something new. Appreciate yourself for the hard work that you had put into this world and economy in order to be able to eat out. Appreciate the moment as it is, the gifts you are given, the privileges you have access to, and the food on your table that you are able to afford by the grace of God. Try to remember that “If there is food in your fridge, you have shoes and clothes, you have a bed and a roof, you are richer then 75% of the people in the world.” I am not here to get ‘hippy-dippy’ on you or to get ‘preachy’ either. I would like to give you a little reminder to not take anything for granted. I am a foodie, like hardcore! I eat probably 5 times a day, and I hate leftovers. Sometimes, I think especially as entrepreneurs, we get caught up in all of the ‘haves’ - in all of the fantastic things we have but also all of the fantastic things we want. We always want more and more, not always in a selfish way, but the more you have, the more you can give and the more you can do. This edition of Life By Design Magazine is dedicated to all the foodies out there. The people who are just like myself and my lovely creative director, Jennifer Meim; eager to go out there and taste the next wonderous thing. The vision with this edition is to merge the foodie world with the entrepreneurial world - but with a little flare. I hope that the articles in this edition will help you to not only look at food differently but look at business and relationships different as well! Take a minute to appreciate every article like a savory morsel of your favorite meat (or faux meat if that’s how you roll); let its aroma surround you, think of all it took to have that bite at that moment, savor it, appreciate all the wonders it will do for your life and body, remember it and share it with your friends. Happy reading ;)

HOW TO BAKE A SUCCESS CAKE Have you ever baked a cake? Success is like baking a cake. No, I’m not crazy, maybe a little hungry though. Here is a basic recipe for baking a success cake: Step 1. Gather your ingredients. Success takes a lot of different skills and tools before you can even get off the ground with your business. To START you need basic personal development, customer service skills, a mentor, logo, marketing skills, business idea, and business plan. These things aren’t even the end all be all. The gathering process to success is a never-ending journey; you will forever be gathering knowledge and skills to grow your business. Step 2. Preheat the oven to 350ºF & prepare your pan. Once you think you have everything you need in front of you, it’s time to turn up the heat. Success doesn’t come easy, so you have to ready to deal with long nights, hard work, struggle of every kind, and heat from every angle of your business and your life. Step 3. In a bowl mix flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Let’s start mixing. Success isn’t a one size fits all kind of cake. Success to you might look different than anyone else you know. You might combine the ingredients exactly like the box says while someone else might do it the opposite way. The best thing you can do is find someone who is successful with what you want to do and follow their idea. You don’t need to reinvent the cake recipe. Step 4. Add milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla into the mix. You thought you had it all together, it’s time to mix it up some more. Be FAT – faithful, available, and teachable. It’s important to understand that to become successful you will need to grow and you won’t always get it right the first time. You may need to try multiple times before you get it right. Remember, it took Edison 1000 tries before he got the light bulb right. Step 5. Pour cake batter into the pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes. You cannot keep your mix in your bowl and expect it to grow. That is the same thing with success. Success isn’t just for you, you will need to spread it out, share the love, share the knowledge and be patient. For success, some can happen in a matter of months, while for others it takes years. Keep your goals and dreams in mind and never give up on them. Step 6. Remove from oven and let cool. Sometimes with success, we think we have ‘made it’ when we have only actually made it to the next level. You never know how much more success you could have if you stop now. Sometimes there is a cooling off period, and then you can go further. Step 7. Frost and eat cake. Make sure to celebrate your wins and don’t get burned out. The hustle is real but don’t let it become all you do. Keep in mind that success not the ‘end goal’. Success is a journey. Enjoy the journey of baking the cake and once you have people baking your cakes for you, start a new cake baking business. Don’t limit your success to one cake ever. Now go bake enough cakes to feed the world!

LESSONS FROM AN 82-YEAR-OLD MAN,
GEORGE
It’s actually scary to think of the many life lessons that we miss because we are too busy. I was very focused and working hard in my office today when an elderly gentleman knocked on my door. He was there taking a census for the US Government. I’ll have to confess that I told him that I didn’t “have 10 minutes” to do the census; however, because of his master skill, he persuaded me to do the census, and I finally tapped in and realized what an opportunity I had to pick his brain. George is 82 years old, yet he gets up every morning and works eight hours a day. Not because he needs to work - he is actually a millionaire who had a very successful career in sales. He works because he said that life is to short to sit around, be depressed, get old, and die. George taught me a few lessons today, and I’d like to share those lessons with you. 1. Get up every day with a Positive Attitude and Go for Broke Those words alone have a way of making you want to risk it all and live life to the fullest. George told me that he and his wife had fallen on hard times in their early years of marriage. He said, “Matt, I had two choices, either drown in self-pity or wake up with a super positive attitude and go for broke!” He continued, “Son, it was my attitude and work ethic that brought me to where I am today!” 2. Find your Passion and Follow It George, married for 59 years, father of 5 kids, grandfather to 17 grandkids and 13 great-grandkids, works every day at the age of 82, not because he needs the money, but because he loves to stay active and meet people. Wow! As a young 34-year-old Entrepreneur, I was impressed by this man’s passion for life. He told me that he has always worked extremely hard, but it has never felt like work because he LOVES what he does. 3. Love your Family After George shared his secret to success in business, sales, and life, he said, “Son, my last piece of advice is for you to love your family!” I thought, “Well that is rather cliché.” However, he took it to another level when he stated that success in business at the expense of failure in the family is a waste of life. George passionately challenged me to never put more passion in my business than I do in my family. I then asked him, “George, what is the secret to a successful marriage?” I figured that after 59 years, he might have something to say. He said, “Son if you want to stay married for a really long time, my best advice is to never be afraid to admit you were wrong and have great sex!” I’ll have to admit that I appreciated the raw advice and thought it was awesome! So next time you get a knock on your door - or perhaps sit next to an elderly person on a bench, take advantage of the opportunity and see what you can learn. God bless you! by Matt Maddix maddixpublishing.com

Goes Beyond S.M.A.R.T Hello, my friends. I am sure we have all heard of SMART goals, right? SMART goals are a truly effective strategy for accomplishing your goals. However, what happens beyond that? Ladies and gentleman, I am sure many of us had at one point set goals wholeheartedly using the SMART method and didn’t reach those goals. It’s not because the SMART system doesn’t work, but more that it can be built upon and made better.
launched my fitness journey; I was extremely critical of myself. Many times we don’t give ourselves enough credit for what we have accomplished. For instance, when I decided to get healthy and in shape, every time I would reach one incremental goal, I would have a celebratory cheat meal. I highly suggest that you celebrate small successes that eventually lead to the significant achievements. While being mindful to not over celebrate, give yourself a budget of how you will celebrate the small wins, and live it up.
I will introduce you to my own five new rituals that helped improve the SMART goal system and helped me burn off over 55 pounds in under a year. In addition to your goals being Invested in Yourself. SMART, they must also be SOLID. Educating yourself through books, blogs, and coaching is crucial. I encourage you all to look at your goals daily. Read your goals daily. With that being said, the small tip is to budget your time, so you don’t end up wasting time “trying to get obsessed.” Give yourself five to ten minutes every morning and night to reflect on your goals and get excited about them.

Eat Fingers! Go Bananas! What do you think of when you hear the word berries? Do you think of fruits like strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries? Those are common but do bananas come to mind? Botanically, a berry has three main parts: •Outer skin layer called the exocarp. •Middle flesh layer called the mesocarp •Inner seed layer – called the endocarp. To be classified as a berry the fruit must develop from one flower that has one ovary. Strawberries develop from one flower, but they have more than one ovary. Watermelon meets the criteria for berry and vegetable. Bananas are also composed of all three layers and develop from one flower that has one ovary. So let’s get this straight. A strawberry is NOT a berry. A banana IS a berry. Watermelon IS BOTH berry and vegetable! Fruit, vegetable or berry, these lowcalorie, fiber-rich, incredibly sweet, bright colored items are packed full of minerals and vitamins. Known to improve heart function, vision, reduce hypertension and boost immunity, these are worth putting on the grocery list. STRAWBERRIES contain high levels of pesticides even after washing. By purchasing organic fruits, you will know you are not swallowing a mouthful of pesticides. Homemade strawberry jam is a quick and healthy alternative to conventional jam that is full of refined sugar, gelatin, and pectin. You only need four ingredients! Strawberries for flavor, chia seeds to thicken, honey to sweeten and a squeeze of lemon to tie it all together!
STRAWBERRY CHIA JAM 2 cups strawberries ½ lemon (juice only) 2 – 3 tbsp honey 1 1/2 tbsp chia seeds In a blender combine the strawberries, lemon, and honey. Blend until smooth. Pour into a saucepan and bring to a boil and add the chia seeds. Spoon hot jam into a mason jar and cool completely for jam to reach the correct consistency. ENJOY on toast or even in a scoop of greek yogurt! WATERMELON is refreshing at 92% water. All ages can enjoy this quick slush to hydrate and feel restored on a hot summer day. WATERMELON SLUSH 4 cups watermelon 1 lime (juice) honey to taste 2 tbsp grenadine syrup 2 cups crushed ice Place first 3 ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Add ice just before serving and crush to desired thickness. BANANAS have strange descriptions. A bunch of bananas is called a hand, and each banana is called a finger. Bananas are versatile and are great in shakes, smoothies, pancakes, cakes, snacks, etc. Slice banana pieces into your s’mores on the next camping trip for an updated taste to a classic favorite. You will be pleasantly surprised! Whatever your choice of fruit is this summer, eat and enjoy. Maybe I should say, eat fingers and “go bananas” for health! by Sandra Graham sandragrahamphotography.com

ANT and the GRASSHOPPER Fable It is August, and now it’s the middle of the Summer, yay! It is most people’s favorite time of the year. People are at the beach barbequing, schools are out for the Summer, and everyone is just having a good time just like the Grasshopper from the fable, ‘The Ant and The Grasshopper.’ Have you heard the story of The Ant and Grasshopper? It’s an old fable where a Grasshopper spent the entire summer singing, dancing, and having fun while a family of Ants worked the whole summer to store up food to prepare for the winter. Once Winter arrived, the Grasshopper finds itself dying of hunger and begs the Ants for food. However, the Ants rebuke its idleness and tell it to dance the winter away now. This story has been used to teach the virtues of hard work and the perils of improvidence. Do you know anyone who procrastinates and puts off work in favor of doing things that are more fun? Maybe you have a big project due for a client, but instead of focusing on it, you decide to take a day off. Then, when the project comes due, you’re not really prepared or feeling your most confident self. ‘The Ant and The Grasshopper’ teaches us about putting work before play because it’s more important to do the things you need to do before doing the things you want to do. Budgeting and saving your money is another key take away. The Ants worked all the way to Winter to stock food so they wouldn’t have to worry about it when they can’t harvest. Another word is saving it for rainy days and emergencies in case you cannot work for whatever reason. The Grasshopper, on the other hand, played around until winter and procrastinated during the summer, being completely unprepared. This could be said for entrepreneurs, many of us have bad habits of spending what you make and not saving any money for the future or emergencies. It is essential to include saving as a part your budgeting process. Planning ahead of time is one of the most critical principles to having success. By planning ahead, you can systemize your life.

How Crowdsourcing the World Innovated English Dining
Now Serving Downtown & San Diego Community
Us Brits have plenty to be proud of. From The Beatles to Shakespeare, William Blake to Dr. Who, British culture has left an indelible mark on the world. But historically, England has been the laughingstock for one thing: cuisine. This was certainly warranted in the 70’s & the 80’s; walking the streets of London you’d find bland food and poor service, but there’s been a steady increase in quality from those times. As much as it’s changed, it’s easy to see why the world still makes jokes. Sure we have classics like steak & kidney pie and fish & chips, but if you want something more exotic, you’re stuck with the likes of haggis, jellied eels, and spotted dick. The names alone are enough to make you grimace. But luckily, due to the influence of immigrant gourmands and chefs and the relative ease and cheapness of international travel to all parts of the world, visitors to The Sceptered Isle no longer have to scarf down plates of blood sausage and mushy peas. Now, one can walk the streets of London, Stratford-Upon-Avon, or Oxford and find amazing food and fine dining with influences from France, India, and Greece. And the best part? British chefs have actually gotten better. That is the power of competition, open dialogue, and the innovation of fresh ideas. So yes, we still have roast beef & Yorkshire pudding, fish & chips, and bangers & mash, but now we have generous servings of Michelin 1, 2, and 3-star chefs. Meat and Potatoes Many of us are in the ‘meat and potatoes’ phase of our career. We’re working on the basics, and building our foundation. We’ve optimized a few domains, and are enjoying our meal. But what happens when we see the person at the table next to us eating their steak with a butter herb sauce. We think, “I want that. How did they get it?” The answer is simple: ask. Start the conversation. “How did you get to where you are? What mistakes did you make? What advice would you give someone in my shoes?” By making the right connections and asking the right questions, you’ll soon find yourself searching for more exotic flavors. Once you start looking you’ll find goose liver, gingerbread, and port; oxtail consommé; butter poached lobster with vanilla, carrot, and lemon verbena; and for dessert, Grand Cru chocolate mousse. The beauty is once you’ve sampled many dishes you can always return to your steak and potatoes. Only then, you’ll have a refined palate and a wider knowledge of what’s possible. It’s Not Just What You Eat This metaphor wouldn’t be complete without the Epicurean mandate: it’s not what you eat, it’s who you eat with. You want a healthy and varied mental diet, but you also want to be inspired and challenged by people you enjoy. Connecting over commonalities is important, but if those you surround yourself with are too similar, you may fall in a rut and not be challenged to grow.

today’s youth through
Young Entrepreneur’s Society Hello, world! Have you ever heard someone say that teenagers these days are ungrateful? Maybe you heard them say that teenagers these days have a false sense of entitlement? Perhaps you’ve actually said it as well! Whatever the case may be I have finally discovered a whole new perspective on today’s high school aged youth. Over the course of a school year, I had the opportunity to meet some of the brightest teens with the biggest dreams ever through our non-profit organization called Young Entrepreneur Society (YES). In this article, you will learn a new perspective where YES high school students are the next entrepreneurial leaders. High schoolers are more passionate for entrepreneurship these days. As we all know, entrepreneurship is not taught in schools on a consistent basis with a curriculum. So with YES coming into the schools, we created a safe place where students can express their goals and dreams for their future. By encouraging our YES students to write down their business ideas or creative ideas in a journal, we have discovered they have TONS of ideas for new products or services that they would bring to the marketplace. Through our guidance, some have written and published their own books, while others have opened up shop at local farmers markets to deliver their services to the market. Also, YES students love the aspect of personal development through books and being more conscious of their circle of influence, which is a pretty big deal when it comes to entrepreneurial success. High schoolers have bigger dreams than their current situations. By interacting with the YES students, I began to build up the trust between us. Now they call me, “Auntie Mary.” So because I have that bond with the students, they always open up to me and love to share their goals and dreams with me. While some may see the teens as entitled, I have personally noticed that they have big ideas that they are willing to work for. Some dreams and goals range from materialistic possessions and then as they get deeper into their goals, their goals are more selfless and for their family. Without YES, many of the students don’t tell anyone their goals, and that’s why many times adults cannot relate to them. High schoolers aren’t in it for the money, but for the impact. I’m sure we can all agree that money is not the mission or goal, but a vehicle towards our more deep-rooted goals. With that, it also stands true with YES students. Many of the YES students want to help their families. They want to help the homeless or their friends. This was a big eye-opener to me when I always hear adults call the youth entitled. Not from my new perspective. Helping out families, friends, charities, etc. doesn’t sound like a self-entitled youth at all. I know one teen that wants to help out his whole neighborhood’s economy, and that’s his primary goal of what his business will help fund. Isn’t that amazing?! So, all-in-all, I encourage us all to not be so quick to judge “teenagers these days,” because they genuinely have the dreams, passion, and selflessness to become some of the world’s most impactful leaders.

DESK DINING FOR THE BUSY PROFESSIONAL
Any entrepreneur or business owner will tell you there are typically two types of meals. Lunch meetings at a restaurant and meals that happen at your desk. Make no mistake, there are strategic planning skills involved when pulling off the look of casual eating and conversation while not offending or entirely grossing out your lunch meeting participants. Salads are an excellent choice, chicken wings are career death. Desk dining has its own set of challenges. Food should not require two hands, or give you messy hands while typing or handling documents. Cheetos are obviously the devil. While I am not recommending anyone should eat at their desk every day, more often than not it’s necessary. In my opinion, it’s good to get away from your office and refuel your jets. Go find a beautiful shady area and people watch or scroll through your Facebook feed to chuckle at your friends who apparently became lawyers and political analyst overnight. According to Shape magazine, 67 percent of office workers eat lunch at their desks. While most experts agree you are more likely to experience weight gain, smart choices can have the opposite effect. According to the City of Hope National Medical Center, if you switch out fast food for a handful of almonds at your desk for 6 months, you can lose 18% of your body weight.
desk while I work. I am also very much about good vibes in your workspace. It’s hard to feel inspired when looking you’re down at a plastic container holding last night’s meatloaf. Hummus and pita chips or red pepper slices give you the protein for brain food and are only a one hand operation. Salads are also another excellent choice. Beyond what I have already gone over I have a few more basic rules of desk dining. At no time while desk dining are you allowed to answer the phone. There is nothing ruder than chewing while talking on the phone. It comes out so much louder than you intend and often sounds like a creature. Bottom line Chewbacca, unless you are Liam Neeson and kidnappers are calling with the ransom info, let it go to voicemail. If you are the first person a customer sees when entering the building, you may never eat at your desk, ever. This falls under the maitre d’ clause. A maitre d’ is the first person you see in a restaurant and if that guy isn’t allowed to eat at his little podium, neither can you. Remember, working lunches should not be a daily thing. Cars have rest stops, computers have a hibernation mode, and office equipment has power save modes. If machines can’t go at 100% all of the time and still function well, neither can you.
For myself sometimes it’s tough to look at taking time out of a packed day to chill out and have lunch. Sometimes a simple compromise can work, and I’ll make a fresh fruit protein shake and have that at my

Feeding Your FUTURE Food is probably my second most favorite thing to talk about outside of Travel! It is something most of us love, and it’s a requirement for survival! Food isn’t just something we eat, it’s also something to consider on how we are feeding our minds, mindset, and our futures!! Over the years I’ve taken the opportunity to really pour into feeding my mind and mindset, and one of the primary drivers that stimulate me is the desire to create a wealth goal and help others to do the same. See most people that I talk to are working their butts off all week long, feeding into a job that doesn’t appreciate or value them and for a paycheck that stops paying them if they stop working. That’s great, but one thing I have learned is that residual income is the key to really feeding your long-term goals. Life, in my opinion, and success truly equates to the life one can live based on the hard work they have put in. If we are married to a job that we hate, then we spend 78% of our lives just waiting for Friday. Within the scope of the professional world, freedom is a word that most would use to describe Friday afternoon after work or the end goal of a career driven life where retirement can begin. Now I was always told that retirement was something that we worked towards and could look forward to after working for X number of years and building up a portfolio, pension, lump of savings, etc. That we could live off of retirement for the rest of their lives as a residual check that came in every month as income. The caveat is that the real secret is retirement is NOT age, it’s merely a number. I bring up that point because so commonly we think we need to put time and energy into decades of work to come out at the end of our lives and try and ‘retire.’ One recent revelation that I have come to is that people were not retiring when they were expected to, and the workforce is getting older and older. It has been proven time and time again that ‘insanity’ is doing the same thing over and over again yet expecting a different result. If that is the case, then why do we keep feeding ourselves the financial advice of our elders when we can watch the world around us and see it’s not currently working for a majority of them. What if there was a way to shorten that gap and condense the time frame; since retirement is a number and not an age, picking up a side hustle of some kind could help reduce that gap of when you can and are able to retire. The table below shows the savings that would need to be obtained and the interest of the account to receive a check every month/year residually of X dollar amount. If I could give any advice to not only entrepreneurs but everyone who reads this article is to work on developing multiple streams of income to ensure that you don’t find yourself in a position where you can’t retire and to truly feed the future you want to create.

2 Ways Being a VETERAN Marine Prepared Me for Entrepreneurship
Design Your Destiny
Marines are known for being some of the toughest members of the military. We have a vast reputation of hard-asses that precede us: Chesty Puller, Gunny from Full-Metal Jacket, and don’t forget, our beloved Saint of War: Secretary of Defense General Maddog Mattis.
This build-up of skills makes us Marines know that there is not anything that we can’t do. We learned how to break large goals into smaller chunks and build upon them with daily habits. This habit and use of strategic growth are vital to being an entrepreneur.
A teenager from a small town in Missouri had vast dreams of escaping his hopeless environment and determining his own future. Dayton Mills lives and breathes technology. At the time, his only personal possession included his laptop, which he slept next to on the floor in his sister’s house.
The honor, courage, and commitment that we learned in boot camp stays with us so severely that we truly believe that “Once a Marine, Always a Marine” and we carry that moto our entire lives.
2. CONFIDENCE... OR MORE ACCURATE: ARROGANCE
Every morning, he would get up and obsessively code the website that would finance his goal of moving to California. Dayton spent every waking second, creating software for Minecraft server analytics. His service platform became so popular it was eventually acquired by a company for a lump sum. So, at 19 years old, his vision began to manifest in real life.
First, I must address the elephant in the room, you’re probably thinking, “She was a Marine?!?” I may not have the look, the high and tight, or the war cry, but I do still have the heart and dedication of a Marine even 15 years later. As you know, being an entrepreneur is tough. The journey to become self-sufficient and live a life where your success depends only on what you bring to the table and nothing else… now that’s hard. And since I didn’t have an entrepreneur bone in my body up until a few years ago, I have depended on the internal strength and skills I learned in the Marine Corps to get me through. 1. I KNOW I CAN DO ANYTHING!! REALLY, ANYTHING. People think that Marine Recruits get dropped off at MCRD, get a 50 pound pack slung on their backs and immediately begin marching 20 miles a day. Sorry to burst your insanely dramatic view of Marines, but that’s not the way it works. In every physical or mental skill we learn, we always start with a small step and build up slowly. Our first run is only a mile. We slowly work up to our regular 3-mile runs. Each daily task is used to teach something or instill a skill. No movement or task is wasted without including a teachable moment.
Before my time in service, I was so shy that I visibly shook and almost cried each time I spoke in front of more than just close friends. Now after, I have the confidence that can fill a room. I don’t need to be the center of attention, but I do exude confidence. Knowing your strengths is a good thing. Being confident that you are the best because you know that it will take quite a lot to allow yourself to fail is the kind of determination we entrepreneurs must have. It is like one of those epic scenes at the end of movies where the good guy keeps stepping forward and fighting until the fight is completely over. It will take that amount of resistance to stop me. I will overcome all obstacles and resistance because I know I have in the past and I will again…. Every time. I gained that confidence only by achieving goals I would have never imagined. I learned how to break down mountain-sized goals and celebrating small victories. And ultimately, I gained that confidence by not giving up no matter how impossible the task and succeeding beyond all odds.
Moving to California Once he was situated in San Diego, he enrolled in a 12-week coding boot camp at UCSD. Here, is where he joined forces with individuals similarly intent on changing the world. The new generation opened doors no one could’ve possibly predicted or perceived, and they wanted to be the first people to go through. For their final assignment, they had to make an app. Dayton’s group wanted to integrate the best aspects of today’s most accomplished apps but add their own twist. They decided their app would be called Beekn, an entirely new type of social network. Beekn allows people to be socially active without the pressure of finding something to do or somewhere to go.
rate ways. But, not before being noticed by the teacher’s aid, who would become an investor. Dayton was eager to make an impact in a new market. When he decided to reignite Beekn, he knew exactly who to contact for advice and a bit of guidance. The teacher’s aid loved the idea and offered to fund it, right then and there. Dayton called up the group members that worked on the project with him, and a revolutionary idea was reborn. Taking the Media Out of Social Media Beekn’s mission is to bring people from all over, face to face. When Dayton newly arrived in the city, he didn’t know anyone or anything to do. Beekn allows anybody to “Host” their own “Event” such as a pool party, no invite needed. Everybody can stop by. If you feel like having a cookout or a movie night and want to meet new people, Beekn makes this possible. This can also be great for organizing mixers of any kind. Human interaction in every country is slowly diminishing. People who have similar interests seem to be growing further apart as the year’s pass. Beekn is reversing that and revolutionizing the way people view relationships with others. The app itself is currently being developed but be on the lookout for it on the app store at the end of this year. by Steven Ramirez instagram.com/theguywiththeshades
The course ended, and they unanimously passed. Each member of Dayton’s group went their own sepa-

I walked into the hospital January 21, 2017, to find out that I was bleeding internally and the next thing I know, I’m in a surgery that should have taken four hours yet took six. A four-day stay in the hospital turned into 11 months of uncertainty. My head was spinning, I felt trapped. How could I work trapped in a small hospital room? Could I run a business and heal? Am I a prisoner to this circumstance? I honestly had to pray, reflect and decide. I decided that I had a business not so I would be trapped, but so I could find freedom! Once I established that I would run a business from that small bed, I no longer felt like I was in a cell. With the help of a great office manager, that went to networking meetings, I was able to sign up more clients and focus on my business in a way that I never had before. I could not afford to lose my income while I was in the hospital trying to get better and I was transparent. I told future clients of my circumstances. I had them visit me at the hospital to show them who was fighting for their business as well. I saw and listened to roommate after roommate ask to leave early due to fear of losing their employment. I realized then and there my calling was to provide others the freedom to be sick and not lose employment. The freedom to take as long as they needed to heal. After my 22nd roommate, Front Office Solutions Non Profit was formed. For me now freedom means working my business no matter where I am. The freedom to provide a roof over the head of my children. The freedom to grow my business and succeed. Freedom is the nonprofit I founded. The freedom to hire chronically ill veterans as well as paying for mental health services for veterans teen cutters and their families because my mother committed suicide. Freedom means having the ability to provide help and stability for others. Freedom is giving service to those in need.

How NEGOTIATION Leads to Success Do you think highly qualified individuals are going to settle with a minimum wage rate? Or that there is a frustrating gender pay gap? The answer is no. Sometimes life is about giving and taking, but there comes a time when people want more in life. That’s where negation comes in. Here, we have prepared a list of the best ways on how negotiation can lead you to the success you’ve always wanted. Plan Your Approach Negotiating without having an idea about what you want is due to poor planning. Or when you do have a plan, you don’t communicate it clearly. That’s why you should give yourself some home tuition classes on how to negotiate well before the conversation or conference takes place. Ensure that all of your objectives are clearly understandable to both you and your listeners. Think ‘Win-Win’ When you negotiate with others, you should consider how your suggestions can provide long-term benefits to both of you. For example, if you’re asking your boss for a pay bump, you must clearly and concisely explain how this would benefit the business as a whole more than you personally. Talk Less, Listen More It is a well-known fact that listening yields greater sales than talking. So when you’re negotiating towards others, ensure that you apply this principle. We suggest devoting only 30% of your time towards negotiation and the rest of it to listening. This is a critical factor in sales negotiation, which is usually when you listen and understand what others have to say. Exercise Patience In negotiations, you don’t always get what you want on the fly. That’s why you have to be patient before the agreement is finalized. But don’t agree to a contract in which you give something without getting anything in return. Waiting can be tough to do, especially in today’s on-demand environment, but the reward will eventually be worth it. Refrain From Getting Emotional If things don’t go as you had planned it all out, it’s best not to let your personal feelings get in the way. This will only make your negotiations take a turn for the worst. Remaining calm allows you to think clearly especially when you’re feeling the pressure. If Nothing Works, Then Just Walk Away During negotiations, it is imperative that the other party knows that you’re not the only benefactor. But there comes a time when negotiations leave you without any other options at your disposal. If you can create more options, then it only increases your value as a negotiator and that you can pursue other opportunities. If not, then you can always walk away from an otherwise distasteful deal. by Laraib Shahzad www.smiletutor.sg
NO DAY BUT TODAY What does the number 525,600 mean to you? Have you ever broke down a year into minutes? It seems like they go faster as we get older! The question I have for you is “How do you quantify a year?” It never mattered to me when another candle was added to the annual cake. I was just going through the motions of life and routines of a working husband/ father never taking a moment to reflect on the past 365 days. Sound familiar? The exact moment when I began to measure time was at 8:01 am on February 7th, 2016, when I lost my daughter Aubree Mae after 8 days of life. I learned more from her in those 8 days without her saying a word to me then I could learn from somebody who lived 100 years. My whole world was turned upside down, and I had two roads in front of me; one was paved, downhill, dark, full of excuses and blame or a dirt path that seemed uphill, curved, people along the way and daylight to lead me further. You wouldn't be reading this today if I chose the downhill road. No Day But Today! My 24 hour daily routines began to change into “no matter how you feel, get up, dress up, show up and never give up!” I wanted to look at problems and be a part of solutions. I was tired of hearing horror stories from my fellow military members and VETs struggling through the VA mortgage loan process. It led me to join the Zinkill Group and creating a business development department with a primary focus on improving this experience. We are now witnessing more and more families next to sold signs at their dream homes using their earned benefits!
adding the Triangle of Health, and Fleuresse Skin Care to our everyday routine. Additionally, we started family walks every day, more date nights, jump on our trampoline with my kids trying not to throw out our backs, making healthy meals together, buying annual theme park passes instead of paying bar bills, and we get outside in the fresh air instead of on electronics in the air conditioning. Audiobooks Another lifestyle shift was reading and listening to professional and personal development books instead of watching television and listening to the radio. Wow! What a change in my mindset, from negativity and political issues to inspiring me to create two positive social media campaigns: Glass Half Full and #neversettlelifestyle. Losing Aubree Mae has made me learn the world isn’t about me, it is about serving others and impacting their day. Who would have thought I would be contributing to a magazine!? Being asked to do this impacted my life! Such a blessing! Have you ever wanted to start something? No Day But Today! If you never checked off an item on your bucket list, No Day But Today! Want more time with your kids? Wanna buy your dream home? No Day But Today! Start eating and feeling great? No Day But Today! Enter your idea here… No Day But Today! I want it that when you wake up, you are stepping into your dreams! You don’t need a tragedy to get yourself moving. Anything is possible, put your ideas into action, nobody has the right to tell you otherwise, you are unstoppable! Where will you be in 525,000 minutes? Take that step now! Forget regret, or life is yours to miss. #neversettle

5 Ingredients To Create The
Fabulous Recipe of YOU “A recipe has no soul. You, as the cook, must bring the soul.” Unknown Every person is made up of a blending of ingredients that create who we are. And although those ingredients tend to be the same, they come in different proportions. The only difference between you and me is the individual soul that we bring to our recipe. Each and every one of us contains a multitude of ingredients, but just as with most recipes, 5 main ingredients make up the base of every person. These base ingredients are personality, initiative, self-discipline, vision, and habits. PERSONALITY Our personalities are derived from what we choose to put out in the world. Yes, some of it comes from the genes we are born with and our experiences in life, but the most substantial portion of this ingredient comes from who we choose to be. How we choose to present ourselves - the words we use, the body language we have, the tone of voice we speak with – is our greatest asset and liability. The attitude you communicate with others will tell more about you than anything else you do. INITIATIVE Initiative is the power you put forth to complete that which you start. The initiative that you put forward in life will be the most significant factor in how far you go. You can choose to do no more than what is asked of you or you can choose to go the extra mile and do more than anyone else. People that do well in life are those that choose to do that which has not been asked. By choosing to be the person who always goes that extra mile, you bring advancement, attention, and opportunity to yourself. SELF-DISCIPLINE Self-discipline, or self-control, is the taking of control over your thoughts and emotions and directing your destiny. It is the only thing that any one person has absolute complete and utter control over. We have the power to choose what our feelings, thoughts, and actions will be. Take control of those, and you will take control of your life and dictate what your destiny will be. VISION Vision is what you focus on. It is the act of fully coordinating the powers of your mind toward the attainment of one particular objective. Once you choose to control what you focus on, you will start to see things align in your life – it’s as if it’s magic. What you think on, you bring to you. What you think you are, you are. Take control over what you focus on and draw what you want into your life. HABITS You are where you are, and you are what you are because of your habits. Determine if your habits are in alignment of who you want to be and what you want to have. We, humans, are the only living creatures equipped with freedom of choice. This freedom of choice is where we establish our thoughts and behaviors. You have the power to change bad habits and to choose good habits. Change what needs to be changed to obtain what it is you want. You already have all of these ingredients, as well as many more. The question is, what kind of soul are you going to bring to the recipe of you.

SHARON LECHTER
Today, Sharon Lechter is a phenomenal, life-changing author, businesswoman, motivational speaker, financial literacy activist, and philanthropist. But, naturally, she didn’t start off life this way.
suits the company was involved in, and she ended up meeting the man who became her husband. They’re celebrating 38 years of marriage this year. So, out of your worst decisions can come your best choices.
Sharon was born in San Diego, California as a Navy Brat and moved around with her family. They ultimately settled in Florida where she graduated with an accounting degree from Florida State University. After having experienced the backside world of entrepreneurship with her parents, she knew money and assets but decided she was not going to be an entrepreneur.
The first global brand that Sharon was involved in was in the late ‘80s when she met the inventor of the first talking book – a book with a sound strip down the side. She helped drive that company from $1 million to $9 million to $23 million and sold it in 1991 when they moved their family to Arizona.
“Stand in your power.” She initially worked for an accounting firm, but quickly learned she was working way too hard for someone else and that’s when the entrepreneurial bug bit her. She had a fabulous offer to go with another company, so she listed out the pros and cons and then suddenly wrote – Why Not? This developed into her personal philosophy. You see, Sharon says when you ask someone why you’re waiting for someone else to give you an answer. When you ask yourself why not, you dig deeper within yourself. Why not do something different? Why not take the path less traveled? Why not solve a problem or serve a need? Why not? That’s the essence of being an entrepreneur. The decision to move to the new company turned out to be the worst and best decision of her life. Upon arriving, Sharon found all kinds of corruption. Needing time to decide what she should do, she took a few days off. When she came back, there were attorneys there related to some on-going law-

Their oldest son went to college in September of 1992 and returned in December and announced he was $2,500 in credit card debt. She was upset with him...but more upset with herself as she thought she had taught him about money. It was at that moment that she decided to dedicate the rest of her career to financial literacy, financial education. Fast forward a few years. A gentleman walked into her husband’s office wearing flip-flops, a Hawaiian shirt and board shorts with an idea for a game on a piece of paper. His name was Robert Kiyosaki. Kiyosaki went to see her husband because he was an internationally known intellectual property attorney. Sharon volunteered to help Kiyosaki commercialize the game because she felt it was something that needed to get out to the public. Kiyosaki asked Sharon to partner with him, and they created the Rich Dad Company that she led as CEO for 10 years. The brochure that was designed to market the game was called Rich Dad Poor Dad, and it became a product. They never intended for it to be their primary product, but it became very popular in its own right. They thought their brand was CASHFLOW. The world said, no, no, your brand is Rich Dad. When Sharon and Kiyosaki wrote the Rich Dad Poor Dad book, they had no intention of writing more books. But their followers wanted more. That brought the trifecta – Rich Dad Poor Dad, Rich Dad’s Cashflow Quadrant,
“If you’re going to do something, do it well and do it to the maximum impact you can.”
and Rich Dad’s Guide to Investing. Again, they thought they were done, but the world thought differently. All-in-all, they wrote 15 books together. After that, Sharon launched another series called Rich Dad Advisors which included 10 more books by subject matter experts, including some by her husband on intellectual property and using other people’s money. The series exploded, and she experienced true viral success – before the Internet, before Amazon. Sharon attributes the success they had to the right message at the right time. One of Sharon’s philosophies has always been, “If you’re going to do something, do it well and do it to the maximum impact you can.” And the most significant thing Sharon has learned during her career is that if you’re going to do it well, you have to play big. To play big, you have to align yourself with big players.
credit card companies from soliciting students on campus. The passing of that bill has made it harder for credit card companies to target kids who haven’t really been educated in finances yet. Sharon advises that many people say to do what you’re passionate about, but sometimes your passion comes out of what you’re angry about. Sharon’s best advice to budding entrepreneurs is, “Stand in your power.” Stand in your own power, define who you are, and then earn the right to play big. Secondly, identify your niche, your area of expertise, become an expert and then take that expertise to become an authority in that field. Today, Sharon is building her new brand, the Play Big Movement. In this movement, Sharon teaches how to be number one in your field – how to live your legacy and how to create maximum impact. You can learn more by visiting her website www.sharonlechter.com.
In March 2007, Sharon decided she and Kiyosaki were headed toward different paths, and it was time to separate. And while the next 18 months turned tumultuous, she knew it was time to go. She knew that sometimes you have to close one door for another to open.
Interviewed by: Stephen Dela Cruz Written by: Janine Holman www.sharonlechter.com
Late in 2007, she got a call from President Bush and was asked to be on the first President’s Advisory Council for Financial Literacy – an opportunity she would not have had if she had still been with Rich Dad. A few months after that, she got a call from The Napoleon Hill Foundation. It was an excellent time to receive that call because it was 2008 during the economic downturn, and reinvigorating the teachings of Napoleon Hill was desperately needed. Sharon knows full well that one person can make a difference. While on the President’s Advisory Council, fueled by her son’s experiences getting into debt when he went to college and the knowledge that other students were falling into the same situation, she was very vocal in her support of the 2009 Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act that prohibits ENTREPRENEUR LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE 19

for Intro-preneurs Have you ever felt a lack of confidence in yourself or your abilities? Sometimes it’s because of overestimating others and then sometimes it’s because we underestimate ourselves. It’s actually quite common and affects you whether you’re an introvert or not. Below are three exercises that have helped me increase my confidence that may work for you. Affirmations The first step is affirmations, but it’s done with a twist. I’ve practiced this for a long time and have reaped a ton from this exercise. Look into the mirror and stare into your own eyes. Now say the affirmations while looking yourself in the eye. This exercise may seem strange, but I can attest to the benefits as it’s helped me in speaking, dating, and being more awesome when needed. Look into the mirror and affirm the things you want to happen, or what you want out of yourself. Consistently perform this every day, and you’ll notice a mental shift on the areas you’re working on. Visualization The second step is to visualize. In addition to affirmations, practice seeing yourself possessing confidence. Visualize how you would act, how you would talk, what is the tone in which you would speak, how would you dress, and how do you carry yourself. Visualize the small details to make it more real. Who are you talking to, what do you feel, what do you hear and what do you see? There’s been many books and articles written showing that our subconscious cannot tell the difference between what is real or not and that it will accept the information we provide it. In this case, we are feeding it confidence and utilizing our different senses to make it more real. Face Your Fears The last step is to pick one thing you’re afraid of and keep doing it. Journal what you did that day, and how it made you feel. You will want to review this journal on a monthly basis to see the progression you’ve made. The important thing is to stay consistent and to practice what you’re afraid of as much as possible. You’ll see the things you are most fearful of typically never happen and it’s never as bad as you imagine it. In time what once crippled you in fear will be nothing more than a thought. As you see yourself conquering your fears, you’ll gain more confidence in yourself and your abilities. That’s it folks, nothing fancy here. These practices are very easy to implement, but also very easy not to do. Stay consistent and do them daily for 30 days and watch as your confidence grows.

The Future of Dining There’s one detail that sets an average entrepreneur apart from an entrepreneur who gains an astounding abundance of wealth and success. This highly overlooked, but powerful detail is ‘vision.’ Seeing something where someone else does not. Touradj Barman has a great vision, and it’s packed with purpose. With a background in software development, he never saw himself using it to solve one of life’s largest dilemmas. One night, Touradj and a friend sat for dinner at Isola Pizza Bar in Little Italy. The evening went well until it was time to pay. Touradj knew his parking meter was running and about to expire, he only had a few minutes left on it. He asked for the check and hoped he would get it back fast enough to make it to his car before getting a ticket. But, it nearly took a grueling 15 minutes before he was able to pay, split the bill with his friend and get the receipt. And, by the time he made it back to his car, there was a ticket waiting for him. After that ordeal, he knew something had to be done. So, Touradj put the task upon him to find a way around this seemingly common obstruction. After surveying 300 restaurant goers, 40% of them ended up splitting the check. He decided to develop a mobile website that could allow you and an unlimited amount of guests to cut the bill, almost effortlessly. Mobile Payments Made Easy He chose to call it Up n’ go. The perfect device for anyone who is constantly up and on the go. Just scan the QR code on your receipt. By hovering your phone’s camera over it, every person’s order can be viewed instantly and ready to be paid with ease. Thereby, allowing people to satisfy their impatience in a less than tolerant society. No need to download an app. This simple adjustment shifts the entire outlook of a restaurants atmosphere and is beyond beneficial to the employees. If people are able to pay faster, they are happier. Which leads to bigger tips, making the servers happier. Also, if more people can be seated, more cash is flowing. Inevitably, making the owner happy. Up n’ go is enhancing the dining experience one check at a time. So far, Up n’ go is operational in 2 restaurants, Starlite and Firehouse. And, will be expanding to 5 other well-known restaurants soon. by Alexis Flores instagram.com/super__jeweler
1) Facebook Marketplace: Everyone and their mother (literally!) has a Facebook account these days. Facebook has a handy app extension called Marketplace where you can search locally for anything from custom farmhouse style entryway tables to rare Lego sets to new outfits for your kids. Merely enable Location Services (usually already active if you have Facebook on your cell phone) or type in your zip code and start searching! It’s important to set expectations on what you can get for each item you’d like to sell, so we recommend checking out similar items before creating your post. When you’re ready and have a price in mind, you’ll write a quick description, name your price, and upload photos of each item (preferably with multiple photo angles). Interested local buyers will send you a message via Facebook Messenger, and from there you can set your time and place to meet! To get more eyes on your listings, you can also join Facebook Selling Groups- to join a group. Just type in your city and keywords such as “online garage sale” “sell/buy/trade” or “resale/ barter” at the top of the Facebook search bar to find local groups full of buyers that may be looking for the exact item you’re selling! For example, “New York Buy/Sell/Trade group” or “Los Angeles Online Garage Sale.” Feel free to join multiple groups and cross-post your items, once you’ve read the group rules! 2) OfferUp: This is a mobile app that you can download from your phone’s app store. Once installed, you’ll be asked to create a log-in or make an easy account by logging in via Facebook. From there, you’ll upload photos of your item, write a quick title and description, name
your price, and voila! Your posting is active. Buyers will message you through the app. If you have an iPhone/iOS, a fun little cash register noise will ring every time you receive a message! Cha-ching! 3) Craigslist: Our old, tried & true friend Craig. Craigslist tends to appeal to an older demographic- not everyone is tech-savvy enough to download all these “complicated” apps! In its standard Times New Roman font, you’ll be led to post in your particular area of San Diego, upload photos, and descriptions, and make your post. You can opt to receive responses from buyers via email or phone. Emails can be relayed using an encrypted address so your personal email address won’t be shared with any of the buyers that inquire about your item. 4) NextDoor: Another mobile app but this one is AMAZING to have in your app arsenal! By simply creating an account and listing your address (don’t worry it’s confidential), you can get in touch with any of your neighbors that also have the app. Gone are the days of hopping across the street to borrow a cup of sugar from your neighbor, or asking the family down the street for the name of the guy that put in their new roof. Now we have NextDoor! Once your address is verified, you’re on your way to making new friends and connections in your neighborhood! by Melisa Celikel letsgetyouorganized.biz

How often do we think about our physical appearance in the future? Not many of us do. In business, we always ask ourselves what the return on investment (ROI) is. Why not use it in every aspect of our lives? The (ROI) in eating healthy and working out is for you to look and feel great inside and out. Health is the biggest key to one’s life, if failing to do so, imagine what the cons would be: cancer, pain, overweight, health problem, etc. As entrepreneurs, we can not allow these circumstances to affect our businesses. A lack of nutrition will end up negatively affecting you and your business in the long run. However, here are three tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle to avoid such negative consequences. 1. Discipline Discipline is tough for us all, especially when it comes to food. A majority our of society get their primary sources of fuel from carbohydrates. Everyone loves carbs, but it is essential to understand what kind of carbs you are feeding yourself. Is it bad carbs like a bag of Doritos or good carbs like a fruit salad? Discipline is a combination of decision and self-control. Think of how your body would feel if you are taking in unhealthy carbs compared to proper nutrition. The food that you eat will determine how you will feel overall; eating bad carbs will affect you physically and emotionally as an entrepreneur. Fitness, health, and business are harmonized as one. If one were to break, the others would soon follow suit. Be mindful of what you decide to eat, think of the return on investment. 2. Activities It is vital for not only entrepreneurs but for society to stay physically active. You can eat healthy all you want, but how are you burning the calories you are intaking? Some of my favorite things to do to stay physically active are going for walks in the park, jogging, or doing home exercises such as push ups, mountain climbers, squats pistol squats, etc. Be creative and find ways you can do to help keep yourself healthy. Workouts can go from 5-10 minutes depending on how you feel or longer. Take time out of your schedule for physical training, you are helping yourself in the long run to do more than most who don’t ever start. 3. Nutrition Your body is like a luxury vehicle. Would you put low-grade fuel in a Ferrari? Our bodies are no different. Look for the nutrition facts on the back of the food you are making. What you consume will end up determining the outlook of your physical shape. If you work out and eat wrong, you will not get the results you are expecting. If you eat correctly and give your body the fuel that it needs, you will get closer to your goals faster. What you put in your body will not only fuel your fitness goals but your mind and therefore your business as well. All in all, how you carry yourself is how you carry your business. Every choice you make about what you eat and what you do will affect your actions in the future. How you do one thing is how you do everything. It’s your choice to determine how you eat!

The PROS and CONS of Eating Organic Foods
You may have heard the phrase “You are what you eat.” As a wellness coach, I can assure you that it is accurate and that’s why I always recommend my clients to eat organic foods. Your body is your temple, and you need to make sure you eat the highest quality foods if you wish to have a longevity life. For many individuals, a change in eating habits is a big deal. In fact, a change in eating habits can also be considered a lifestyle change. To help ensure that you are making the right decision, you may first want to examine the pros and cons of eating organic foods. Perhaps, the most significant pro or plus side to eating organically is the health benefits. Organic food differs from many of the other foods that are available for sale today because they are not made with chemicals and other additives, some of which may be harmful to our bodies. Organic food is one hundred percent, completely natural. You are also given guarantees, as most organic foods must be certified and pass rigorous tests. Another pro or plus side to eating organically is that organic food is ideal for individuals of all ages. This is great if you are looking to have your whole family eat organic, not just yourself. It is also important to know that organic foods aren’t only fruits and vegetables. There are snacks, drinks, and desserts that are all considered organic. Most organic foods, including fruits, vegetables, dairy products, and snacks are designed for individuals of all ages. Another pro or plus side to making the switch to organic foods is that you can do your part to help the environment, as well as organic farmers. This not only helps to keep farmers afloat and in business, but it can also improve the environment, by eliminating the number of pesticides and other potentially harmful chemicals that are used. Although there are many pros or plus sides to buying and eating organic foods, it is also important to touch on the downsides of doing so as well. One of the biggest cons or disadvantages associated with eating organic is the cost of doing so. Visiting one of your local supermarkets and walking through an organic food section will give you an idea as to the costs. When compared to other foods, organic does cost more money, but if you really think about it, you will save a lot more money on medical bills in the future, so switch to eat organic foods now. Do you LOVE FOOD and your waistline? I’m in love with both wholeheartedly, yet the love of one of them usually outweighs the other. Which of course always seems to show up on the scale. For that reason, I had to create a lifestyle of hacks. For those of you whose weight goes up and down, like mine, lean in. Also, those who adore food and want to remain healthy, here are the hacks I use to be a healthy foodie who loves her waistline. 1. Cooking at home. You are the sole proprietor of your taste buds and commander-in-chief of your health. Only you will know how much salt goes into what you’re eating. 2. Colorize your plates. Your plate should always look like the colors of the rainbow. A plate with a grilled red pepper, grilled yellow squash, sautéed green spinach, and fresh pink salmon not only will taste good but look beautiful. The more colorful, the better for your system. 3. Find cheaper organic food. Farmers Market’s are the best place to get real food. They are often cheaper than most health food stores also. Find local farmers in your area. They usually have everything you need, and they will save you money.
4. Cucumbers and water. Our body is made up of at least 60% of water, not coffee. To keep kidneys employed, balance your fluids and protects your joints, you must drink half your body weight in water daily. The thing about cucumber is they take drinking water to another level. It protects you from aging, reduces bad breath, and fights against inflammation in the body. These two together are beasts! 5. Seafood is your friend. The answer to your nails growing and skin glowing will be found in halibut. It contains calcium, magnesium, zinc, and B6. Instead of drinking a protein shake after a workout, have a piece of baked cod that has 21 grams of protein. It’s also known to be an Alzheimer and cancer blocker. To improve your memory, eat some salmon. It also keeps your bones strong and reduces your chances of having a stroke. Use this hacks to keep your waistline fine, while you enjoy a bite of each meal. Happy eating! by Logan Rena loganrena.com

FOODIE’S
Approach to
S U CC E SS I get it, you’re on a mission. You have a dream and a vision for your life, and you know that the only way to realize it is to hustle and grind. Or is it? I continuously challenge Thought Leaders to look at solving problems in unique ways. Here’s the four-pronged foodie approach to achieving more while actually doing less. Plan the Harvest Harvest doesn’t happen all year long, and yet, entrepreneurs are programmed to believe that success comes when you harvest… So, when you’re not harvesting, you think and feel as though you’re losing valuable time. What if, instead, you planned your cycles and seasons? Just like in farming, there will be time blocked to prepare, plant, nurture, and finally harvest—each in its own time and season. Incorporating this into your short and longterm growth plan will allow you to maximize your efficiency, yield, and enjoyment. Vary the Menu We all love something new now and then. What if you approached building your business the same way a great restaurant approaches a menu? There are some staples and some specials. The specials change or rotate. Perhaps you have paperwork on the Monday menu, follow-up on Tuesday, social networking on Wednesday… I’ve discovered that variety on your work menu will increase productivity multiple times over. Feed Your Soul What about dessert? How often are you incorporating fun into your life? How much time do you set aside for your sweetie, your friends, and family? I’ve come to regret (and even resent) every

period of my life where I’ve deprived myself of time with friends, fun, and loved ones. Sure, there are periods where you have to put your head down, but don’t you think your closest friends want to celebrate you? Your community is your lifeline. Eventually, while you’re hustling your way to success, you’re going to need people (real people) to share the success with. And hey, dessert doesn’t have to be unhealthy. Look at it as the way to celebrate your progress and your commitment to living the life you truly want. Rate and Review Do you take the time to rate and review the restaurants you eat at? Or, do you get what you’ve paid for and leave it at that? Consider this. Doing the bare minimum gets you the bare minimum. If you’re doing the bare minimum for your favorite restaurants, you’re also treating yourself and your business the same way. Rate and review yourself. Here’s the catch. I challenge you to positively rate and review, no matter what. Why? Because what you focus on expands. Do you want more of what’s working? Or, do you want to focus on what isn’t working? When you focus on what is working, suddenly, you start getting more of the same. Try the foodie approach yourself and let me know when you find yourself with much more time (and money) to enjoy eating out at your favorite spots. I’ll meet you there!

THE MELTING POT
What you permit, you promote. That is the motto Dee Woodruff lives by, and it truly shows one’s perspective on life. It means if you see something that goes against what you stand for or a rule that is not obeyed and you turn the other way – you don’t say anything – you are promoting it. It’s a silent approval. Dee was raised in Ireland. She grew up with her grandmother owning her own restaurant, and that is where her passion for the hospitality industry formed. She initially wanted to work with the Ireland tourism board, but the state of Ireland at that time dictated that she leave Ireland. She came to the United States and began her hospitality career with the Holiday Inn. After working with the Holiday Inn for quite some time, Dee decided to return to the restaurant business where she could mentor the younger generation. She knew that when you invest in people, when you train them, and tell them why something needs to be done (and not just that they have to do it), people will bend over backward to help you.
atmosphere that elicits laughter, conversation, and togetherness, The Melting Pot provides an exceptional way to enjoy an unforgettable, interactive meal that turns moments into memories. With a delectable 4-course pairing, your meal is as unique and creative as you make it. Choose from your favorite artisan cheeses, salads, entrees, sauces, cooking styles, and chocolate, all cooked by you in your fondue pot. You can select from a preset 4-course experience or create your own 4-course entrée. Either way, you’ll end your evening with your tummy full of unmatched, mouth-watering, sensuous tastes and the best dining experience you ever had. by Janine Holman facebook.com/janine.l.holman
Dee’s philosophy is “manage yourself, manage your people, manage your business.” She knows that when you set boundaries for yourself, give yourself the care that you need, you are a more efficient person – a person who can be more effective. When you are more effective, you can manage people more effectively. You are able to pour into people the inspiration and motivation they need to be their best selves. And when you allow people to give their best, they, in turn, manage your business. This is how she gets awards for her accomplishments. Dee has built an 18-year career as a general manager at The Melting Pot where she has always found that her philosophy and success has led for jobs to come looking for her. In 2017 Dee won awards for both Operator of the Year and Franchise of the Year. Her passion is to mentor and train people in the hospitality industry, and her abilities in this arena raise her restaurants to levels others don’t achieve. Dee strives to stand out from the crowd and give her dining guests the best experience they’ve ever had. If you’re looking for a different dining experience, go to The Melting Pot – Gaslamp District. DO YOU OWN YOUR BODY? 7 Ways to embrace the “whole being” YOU ARE Do you own your body? Many times, people think that their body is just a tool, like your car. When you want to go somewhere, you start the engine and drive to the destination. Once you get there, you turn it off and keep on going with your life, while your car stays nicely parked somewhere. But your body is much more than that, your body is what allows you to stay alive, to fulfill your dreams, to love, to make love, to feel emotions and much more. It is pretty simple, without your body, you wouldn’t even exist. We live life once, every single second of every day. I want to share with you 7 ways to honor your body, allowing yourself to live life to the fullest, embracing the “whole being” you are. 1. ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR BODY: “Stop driving it and start inhabiting it.” Own it, like if you really belong there. Listen to your body, what does it need from you? What is it asking for? Maybe it needs more time off, a vacation, a visit to the doctor or the dentist. Your body must be one of your top priorities. Believe me, you need it to be alive! 2. BE FULLY PRESENT: Work on yourself to find ways to be connected to what you feel in your body, it can be through meditation, affirmations, breathing techniques, and others. For most people, it’s easier to stay in their minds, but that is not enough to live a full life. You need to have a full body-mind-spirit connection to be a whole. 3. FOOD: “Choose wisely.” You are what you eat. Ingesting the right food can provide you with high power and energy, which will result in a positive attitude towards life. There are many diets, but none of them will work on a long-term basis if you don’t implement it as your way of living. Learn to listen to your body, and it will

tell you what’s best for you. Believe in the wisdom that lives inside of yourself. Like Gennen Roth said: “The way you eat is inseparable from your core beliefs about being alive. Your relationship with food is an exact mirror of your feelings about love, fear, anger, meaning, and transformation”. 4. YOU KNOW WHAT IS BEST FOR YOU: Many times we fool ourselves by taking the easy path, fast food, fast cooking, fast eating, whatever is on the way... We even listen to other’s opinions before wondering what is it that we want. You know what you need, listen to your own wisdom, search inside of yourself, and you will have all your answers. Take the time to figure it out. 5. EMBRACE YOUR FEELINGS: There are not good or bad feelings. Feelings are feelings, and when you deny any of them, your body reacts. Something happens inside of you when you resist what you are feeling. Disease happens when we block ourselves and our uniqueness, when we dis-ease, as simple as that. Telling your body, it’s ok to feel what you are feeling is a great way to start the healing process. 6. DO SOMETHING THAT MAKES YOU FEEL ALIVE: Dance, sing, walk on the beach, look at the stars, kiss, hug, FEEL with every cell of yourself. You are alive! You are precious! You are a Miracle! Save time every day to stay in that sacred presence of yourself. 7. TREAT YOUR BODY AS A TEMPLE: You are made of stardust, you are the creator of your life. This whole world was created for you and by you. OWN IT! Your body is precious, it is perfect, it is beautiful. Start your day by talking to that marvelous creation in your mirror and say out loud: I LOVE YOU, LET’S CREATE THE BEST LIFE EVER.

SERVANT LEADERSHIP, Effective Leadership – Bridging People Together Part 1 Matthew 5:9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” As a child, I had a love for bridges. It always fascinated me that a bridge could take you from one land mass to another. When I was twelve, my family and I were on a trip and went across the Golden Gate Bridge. This was a magnificent journey for me. We took the tour, and I was fascinated by the history of the bridge. It was during this trip that I began to understand something about why bridges are so crucial to us. The Golden Gate Bridge, like all bridges, was built for a single purpose. The motivation for a bridge ultimately is to save time and connect people. Why would we want to do this? Why go to all the expense of spanning a gulf to connect two land masses? The answer is simple. When you bridge something, you bring it together. So, why has it been such a challenge to bring people together in this age? I have a hypothesis for this disconnection. We all seem to dwell in our own echo chambers. If there is a dissimilar view that goes against our own, we strike out at this and try to shout it out of existence. There is a solution to this. We are all called to be peacemakers. In other words, we are called to bring together different people to work as one. In Matthew 5:9 Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called children of God.” Be the bridge that brings people together. Community is one of the things that is disappearing from the American culture. Without community, we are alone and vulnerable to life’s hardships. With hardships, people tend to strike out against others. The loss of community precipitates the feeling of isolation and strife. This, in turn, polarizes people. The anonymous nature of the internet gives our voice a fertile landscape to proliferate all manner of contention. I say this, if you are a follower of Christ use the interconnectedness of the internet and real life to deliver a new message. One that brings people together, if not in peace at least in cooperation. This cooperation is not without a price. You need to give it freely and without any expectations of payment. Apply this concept to your day to day dealings with people. We are placed on this planet to work with one another to better ourselves and others. To this end, we are called to bridge people and ideas. This is a willful and conscious act. It may not seem glorious or easy, but it will bring benefits tenfold to your community. So, when you are the bridge you are bringing together something more substantial than a landmass; you are bringing together people. The enhancement of lives will naturally follow this.

The Minimalist Diet Food isn’t the final frontier on the path of a minimalist, but it is where a lot of us give up or look away. Rightfully so, eating habits, especially bad ones, can be hard to break since it’s a daily activity we might overlook. It’s easier to reach for a quick snack than to admit you forgot to pack a healthy one. It’s easy to make excuses for meal prepping. Overlooking a lifetime of bad eating habits is easy. Well, you know what else is easy? A well-balanced minimalist diet! Here are a few tips to have in consideration when you approach dieting with a minimalist mindset. Remember that before you start any new path, it’s essential to have the goal in mind. Are you choosing a minimal diet to declutter your kitchen, to eat healthier, to reduce the stress of making decisions and cooking for a family? Whatever your motivation is, by the end of this article, you will be able to meal prep, think ahead, and stress less over your meals. Don’t count calories, count on quality ingredients Focus on the grade and origin of your ingredients. Fresh, farm-to-market vegetables will beat processed canned foods any day of the week. By making sure you select clean, organic, healthy, ingredients you can be sure that your meals will be free of the additives, preservatives, excess sodium or pesticides that take away from the quality of the meal. Whether it’s a farmer’s market or grocery chain, you can always ask about the origin of your food. Plan Ahead Instead of looking at your refrigerator and thinking: “what’s missing?”, Ask yourself instead: “What do I want to eat this week?”. By thinking ahead about the meals that you will want to create, you eliminate the likelihood of buying items on a whim when you go grocery shopping. Plan out your grocery list around staple items like beans, legumes, vegetables, and meats. When you do this, be mindful of what items you will cook in bulk like rice and pasta; these will be the main pillars you use to build your menu around the week. Tomorrow’s Menu If you need a little direction or an example of what a day’s meal prep might look like here’s what a sample menu might start off with, remember, simple and clean. Breakfast can start with overnight oats, a banana, and a cup of milk. Lunch might look like salad greens topped with cucumber, garbanzo beans, oil and vinegar, and a side of bread. A simple and healthy dinner can be baked chicken, steamed broccoli, and a baked potato. For mid-day snacks: fresh fruit, carrots, celery sticks or whole grain crackers are all easy to pack options. And for every meal, water to wash it all down. For me, the most significant benefit from a minimalist diet is the reinforcement of simplifying decisions to save time. I know what I will be eating, so the enigma of choosing what’s for dinner is never an issue. Whatever you gain and get back from the many benefits of a minimalist diet, the positive impact on your health will be the biggest reward. by Juan David Ortiz-Romero Lendit.io

3 Reasons to WINE and DINE your clients When you think of the dinner table, what feeling does it give you? Did you have family dinners growing up? Does it give you a sense of belonging and happiness? For many people, the dinner table is where family, friends, and even business partners come together. In this article, I want to share with you the three reasons why I take all of my prospects, clients, and influencers to lunch! 1. Instant Rapport Taking someone to lunch builds instant rapport when you go to a restaurant that your client picks you are both agreeing on something you enjoy. This gives you a common ground, which promotes understanding and can even increase trust. Food can also improve attitude by allowing your client to open up to your opinion. 2. They Have to Sit With You When you meet a client for coffee, or at your office if they don’t like your offer, your company, or heck even your shirt, they can up and walk out at any time. If you take them out to lunch, they have a reason to stay and listen to you. The trick to this is ordering before you get to business. Once their order is in, the vast majority of people will stay even if they have objections. This gives you plenty of time to handle their objections and show them how your product or service can improve their life. Remember if your potential client doesn’t buy your product it is because you didn’t teach them how much your product or service can improve their life. 3. Warm and Fuzzy Feeling The key to any sales is the emotion; people buy for two reasons, to avoid the pain of not having your product or service, or because they are passionate about your product or service. Even if your client decides to use your product or service to avoid pain you want them to leave with what we call “warm and fuzzy” feelings. These feelings can help convince your client to go with you and to help get rid of buyers remorse before it happens. But taking your client to lunch doesn’t just create warm and fuzzies from the food, naturally people like to be treated. Whether we see it in movies, or they remind us of dates even in a business relationship, people feel special when they are courted. So the warm fuzzy feelings are created from the moment you invite your client out, to the moment you close the sale! Taking your clients to lunch or dinner is a great way to boost your persuasion game! Whether you make a little investment or a big one, always remember, you can wine and dine hundreds of clients, but you still have to make the close! So believe in your product or service, and make sure the prospects you are taking out can genuinely benefit from it! Don’t forget I’m always open for lunch! My favorites are Brazilian and Korean BBQ.

OUTWITTING THE DEVIL
BOOK REVIEW
WWW.CRUZINSOCIALMEDIA.COM Contact hello@cruzinsocialmedia.com to schedule a consultation for your social media.
Instantly I wanted to read this book especially after meeting Ms. Sharon Lechter. If you don’t know who she is, please Google her name. She visited and spoke at our mastermind group. Questions filled my mind right away, like why would Mr. Hill write about the devil? Is this going to be a religious book? How will this book relate to success? Wow! Talk about a “different” perspective - from knowing more of Mr. Hill’s personal life and cross-concepts of “Think & Grow Rich” principles. I was surprised that Mr. Hill talked about his struggles and failures, in details! I couldn’t put this book down from the moment I started reading because I just wanted to know the next ‘thing’ and the next ‘thought.’ This book got me to reflect on my childhood and review my current philosophy of life. The power of thought mixed with desire then applied with action is reemphasized here. It’s great to see and connect the dots of the things we learned from the other books that Mr. Hill had written.
SOCIAL MEDIA IS THE ULTIMATE EQUALIZER. IT GIVES A VOICE & A PLATFORM TO SPREAD THEIR MESSAGE.
Why the Devil? For a good number of people, God is known to be the unseen dominant force of the universe. Isn’t it interesting that the Devil isn’t talked about or blamed as much as God? So it’s fascinating to read about the thought and reason of the Devil (of course based on the written words of the author). I don’t want to spoil it here so I won’t give anything away, know that I sincerely recommend this book :) Will it be religious? Bible verses were sited, and biblical principles were shared to show what the Devil is saying. What does it have to do with success? Fear is one of the biggest stoppers for someone’s success. It is very fitting that the Devil can relate to this topic since it’s his expertise. Practical concepts are also revealed to prevent and/or to change circumstances. Mr. Hill provided great illustrations of how our thoughts project either positive or negative. A reminder that the only limitation we have is ourselves - our thoughts, our desires, and our actions.

Francesco was born and raised in Sicily, Italy. He has spent much of his adult life living abroad and learning culinary arts and urban planning. Much of his career has been in academics, but he finds his true passion in bringing good food, fabulous wine, and fun-loving people together. Adisa was born in Bosnia, and her parents came to San Diego, California when she was 15 years old. She has spent time with a vegan private chef and is dedicated to travel, cultures, and people to embrace diversity, lively conversation, and cultural exchanges. Adisa believes that all things are possible with good food, good people, and open hearts. Francesco and Adisa believe that food is the connector of humans and that through food, people build bonds that last lifetimes. Both Francesco and Adisa have spent time living abroad in many countries, and they’ve noticed that here in the United States, the dining experience is not used to form and build relationships. It’s not a social time like it is in other countries. So, they’ve joined forces to bring people together again – to form those bonds that create such a unique love for one another. Shopping trips to farmer’s markets, introductions to local farmers, group cooking, and three to four hours together is how Francesco and Adisa run their private cooking classes. They tour farmer’s market, discuss locally grown ingredients, converse with local farm-

Then they cook, exchange great conversation, and enjoy the meal together. For Francesco and Adisa, building a community of strangers that come together to enjoy good food and great conversation and leave as friends is an ideal non-working business for them. They enjoy bringing people together to get to know one another. As I’m sure you’ve become accustomed to when you dine at a restaurant, it’s just you and whoever you came with. At Cucina Migrante events, it’s about community – bringing strangers together to create unforgettable culinary experiences that are for your soul. When asked about their best advice to others who also want to create a business, they both had great advice. Adisa said to just do it. It’s very easy here in the United States, and the rewards are phenomenally enriching. Francesco said to enjoy life. Whatever you choose to spend your time on, make sure you enjoy doing it. Embrace it. Money is important, but there are many more important things. Make your money in a way, so it feels like you don’t have to work. The biggest, most rewarding success is when people recommend you to others.
After using it to heal from her own surgery and illness as a teenager, Tara felt called to do natural healing to help others. She first started her entrepreneurial journey 20 years ago in 1998 when she started helping people and training around the world as a holistic health provider. She has spent most of her life on the East Coast where she built a thriving practice and helped heal hundreds of people. Tara has studied holistic health in places all over the world, including Peru, Tibet, South Africa, Egypt, Ireland, Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand, to name just a few. Tara’s first experiences with entrepreneurship were not in 1998 though. Her experiences started with a long history of entrepreneurs in her family. Her father earned his Master’s degree in business and was a guiding force to many businesses. Her mother’s side of the family ran several successful businesses too. Going into business for herself just seemed a natural thing to do and the best way to help the most people in the manner she is so gifted to do. Tara has also been trained extensively in therapeutic bodywork to help people and animals recover from injury, surgery, physical trauma or discomfort as well as relaxation techniques. When asked what her biggest failure or setback as an entrepreneur has been, Tara had to admit that she really hasn’t experienced any significant failures or setbacks. She recognizes she’s not perfect by any means and building your own business is not always the easiest path, but for her, this journey has been a very positive one – even when she’s gone through illness,
Tara’s best advice to other entrepreneurs and people who want to start their own business is to stay true to yourself and look for ways to grow your business successfully. But she adds, not just successfully, but safely. Be conscious of remaining excited and passionate about what you are doing and find ways that would support you in every area of your journey. And, of course, following your intuition and being balanced is an important way to also move forward to bringing your gifts out into the world – always stay true to your heart and soul. What the one piece of advice Tara would give to her younger self is to always balance your life. Don’t get so focused on what you want to build that you forget to live – you need to still be present in life while you serve others and build the life you want. It’s really important to live your life as you are living your purpose and it’s easy to get caught up in your purpose. So, remember to still live while you build. Tara’s favorite hangout spot is Sunshine Gardens in Encinitas and a restaurant in there called Betty’s Pie Whole Saloon. They have the most amazing baby pies and not just dessert pies, but entrée pies as well – Chicken Pot Pies, Thanksgiving Pot Pies, Mamma Joe’s Meatball Pot Pies. Their sweet dessert pies are delicious as well. A whole area is a place you can walk around and see and buy different plants. It’s a place to go and enjoy the food and then walk around and enjoy the environment. Trilogy in La Jolla is the place Tara would recommend for entrepreneurs to have meetings and get-togethers. It’s a great healthy place to go and have a little aerial yoga show and a rooftop view of the ocean. WHAT IS YES? YES stands for Young Entrepreneur Society. We are a California Nonprofit 501(c)(3) that serves high schools on a weekly basis. Every week our team of volunteers hosts school clubs during their lunch breaks to bring them FREE lunch & activities, speakers, and videos around the spirit of entrepreneurship.
WHY YES? Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death in teens between 13 and 18. Depression and anxiety are the number 1 and 2 mental illnesses suffered among students in high school. 1 out of 6 teens have seriously considered suicide. 1 out of 12 have attempted suicide. 78% of students have started drinking alcohol. 42.5% of students have used drugs. Of that, 25% have used hard drugs such as cocaine, LSD, and Ecstasy. 50% of students have been bullied online. Every 26 seconds a student drops out of high school. We believe this is due to lack of purpose and lack of vision. Our team comes in every week to bring the spirit of entrepreneurship to give hope and vision for their future! We focus on goal setting, personal development, budgeting, serving, team building, etc.
GET INVOLVED! We are looking entrepreneurs, business professionals and companies who will become financial parters with YES on a monthly basis to impact the students of San Diego! By being a financial partner, we invite you to speak to our students, have your logo placed in our monthly magazine articles (10,000 print distribution monthly) and invite you to our yearly gala & networking mixer.
