Letter From The Editors The Stegela Success Mastery Team
San Diego is such a beautiful place. We are one of the cities that are very entrepreneur driven. With Life by Design magazine being designed for entrepreneurs, it makes it a perfect hub for ongoing startups and/or companies that are scaling. The theme of this month’s edition is “startups,” which hits dear and near to my heart! I grew up in the Philippines, a third world country, where opportunities were presented often to the rich. My dad was an overseas contract worker, so we barely saw him because if you want to make more money, you find a job outside of the Philippines. Growing up, I saw my mom hustle; she’s the one actually that introduced me to entrepreneurship, I remember seeing her sell Tupperware, and get lots of free stuff from the company. I subconsciously learned what this “entrepreneurship” thing was at a young age. Ever since then I knew that I would be a business owner, and I will be working for myself. There is always the magic and excitement behind starting any business. For myself, and some entrepreneurs will agree with me that one of the best parts of the business is the beginning. It’s like the honeymoon period. The process is similar to having a child; you conceive, give birth, and raise them. A parent would have this vision of what their child is going to look like. Of course, just like a baby, your business will go through the growing pains, and then hit adulthood, where the money comes in! Here at Life By Design, we encourage anyone that has dreams to pursue it and use this accessible source of information and resources to hear from other entrepreneurs that have gone through the same path as you! With the articles in this edition, I hope you find answers or inspirations through their stories about how they started, how they maintained and how they grew.

WHAT ARE YOU STARTING? The first time I started a business, I needed a lot of help. I was 22 years old and no idea what I was doing. I had to buy a second fridge and convince people to try my food to buy my brand new meal prep service. Thankfully, I had a fantastic mentor who helped me through it every step of the way. The first time I ran a half marathon, I was overconfident in my ability to run. I had run 8 miles before, 13 was nothing! I had planned to train, but I procrastinated, and then it was the day before, and I knew I couldn’t back out. I paid for this - I was going to do it! I could barely walk for three days afterward, but I did it! I didn’t have to have a golf cart come around and carry me off!! The aftermath of what running 13.1 miles on an untrained body was indeed a wake-up call for me. I shouldn’t have procrastinated practicing. The first time I spoke in front of a large group of people I was in high school, and I was supposed to read a chapter from a book out loud to the class from the front. I choked up. I turned bright red. I literally couldn’t even say one word. I didn’t even know that I was afraid of public speaking until that moment. I felt like a failure in that instant. I easily remember the first time I spoke in front of 350 people was on a stage that I had spent nearly 12 months coordinating. At first, I was nervous, I didn’t really have a solid speech outlined! The more that I was just myself on that stage and the more I just spoke to the audience as if we were having a conversation the more natural it got. I realized that the fear of public speaking doesn’t ever really go away 100%, but you do learn how to push past that fear and do it anyway. The first time I wrote an article I felt like it was pointless, who wanted to hear my point of view? Then someone commented on it and told me that what I wrote was precisely what they needed to hear that day. The first time I started a business I learned a lot, especially that I needed a mentor. My first half marathon I learned I needed to practice no matter how confident I was. The first time I spoke at my high school I learned that fear can be physically crippling. My first significant speech I learned how to push past that fear. The first article I learned that you never know when your words could change someone’s life. Doing things for the first time is scary. It is hard. It is frustrating. Most of all though, it is rewarding. Every new door you open is filled with new opportunities just waiting for you to take them! Every time you try something new, you learn something new, something about yourself, something that will help you to grow. Remember, the first time you run, you won’t run a marathon without ever running 1 mile. The first time you lifted a weight, you didn’t lift 250lbs. Success is the same way, you won’t make a million the first day you open, but you will take the initial steps to make that first million! I challenge you, go try something new. What are you going to try?

Fitness and Business
Require the Same COMMITMENTS Have you ever been the person who
hustles so hard that you feel you cannot find time for your health and fitness? Eventually making specific commitments had led me to lose over 60 pounds in under a year. Then out of nowhere, we get into the groove of the day, and we always say, “tomorrow I will work out,” or worse, “I’ll start Monday.” Many times this has happened to us, and typically it’s because we commit ourselves to the hustle and our business goals. Well, ladies and gentleman, I am here right now to let you know, your fitness takes the same amount of commitment as your business, and they go hand in hand. In this article, you’re guaranteed enlightenment of how business and fitness goals require the same commitments. Now you can never say that you cannot commit to your health. Be Committed to the Vision of Yourself Have you ever seen someone or something that truly inspired you to dream bigger? We say, “You know what, I can see myself having those same accomplishments. I can do that too.” Every one of us strives to be like our business mentor, but what happened to the fitness mentor? I challenge you to imagine yourself reaching that level of fitness success and think about it daily and nightly and stay committed to your vision just as you would do for your business. Lack of commitment to your vision will only bring regrets at the end of the day. Be Committed to Investing in Yourself My friends, I know you understand the value and importance of investing in yourself. In business, we invest in mentorship, seminars, books, and programs.
Jeff Rollon
JeffRollon.com Jeff Rollon is a serial entrepreneur, author, business coach, and philanthropist. He enjoys helping others while living with a positive attitude and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. His passion is helping budding entrepreneurs get started and profitable within their first year in business.
Be Committed to Holding Yourself Accountable. This is a simple one. Accountability is discipline. Discipline is all about what you do when nobody is watching. With business, we are constantly on the grind day and night. We hold ourselves accountable to get things done with personal and business development, making those follow-up calls, and reaching our goals. With fitness, you must hold yourself accountable for your training days, the intensity of your training, food intake, and late night snacking. If you cannot keep yourself accountable, it is time to hire someone who cares about your fitness success. All in all my friends, commitment should be non-negotiable. Commit to your vision, and you will naturally take action. Commit to investing in yourself, and you will always learn what the next steps are to reach your success. Last, commit to holding yourself accountable and see how fast your tasks get accomplished.
That doesn’t change when you have fitness goals. Invest your time into researching nutritional facts in your food, what the best workouts are for you, etc. Invest your time in taking action as you would with your business. If you must, invest in a coach that has the proven results you want.

‘Moving the Needle’ is a monthly column where sales expert Chris Stock shares tips, tools, and strategies focused on increasing profitability for business professionals.
The problem with this strategy is people don’t want to be treated like dollar signs or atms. They want to be treated like people. A novel concept, I know.
San Diego is a great place for startups. According to a study conducted by the US Chamber of Commerce, San Diego is the fourth best place in the country for startups. Why are we so great?
We all know people network to make more money and grow their business. And that’s great. But that’s not the only reason they network. They also network to learn and educate themselves and to make friends and grow their social circle - not to mention gaining confidence, practicing communication skills, and the many other benefits that come along.
For one, San Diego has an amazing community of founders and entrepreneurs dedicated to connecting and growing as a team. According to the study cited above, our connectivity (ties to top players and universities in the community) jumped from 18th to 13th in just one year! This is thanks in part to great organizations dedicated to fostering the startup community, such as Startup San Diego, host of the annual San Diego Startup Week. So you want to grow your network? Below are some pitfalls of networking to avoid, and - of course - some tips to be successful in boosting your connectivity. The ‘I Only Use Social Media’ Strategy This is one of my favorites, or I guess I should say, least favorites. And that’s because this strategy epitomizes confusing a tool for the solution. Just like a hammer isn’t the only tool you use to build a house, Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn, aren’t the only tools you should use to build a network. Is social media a good way to reach out and make connections with weak ties? You bet. Can it be a good way to stay in touch and keep connections updated on your recent activity? Sure. Is it a replacement for faceto-face relationship building? Nope. Never. Not even a little. This is especially true for startups, for whom a single powerful connection can mean the difference between funding and failing. Industry leaders don’t live only online. You shouldn’t either. The ‘Everyone’s a Walking Dollar Sign’ Strategy This is one of the most repellent and far too common networking strategies. It’s especially common for new professionals and first-time entrepreneurs.
If all you focus on is dollar signs, you’re ignoring the strong educational and social aspects at play. You ignore people’s desire to connect with one another and connect with something larger than themselves. Not everyone’s a potential lead, but everyone’s a conduit to connections. If you try to convert everyone you meet, you end up turning away a lot of people who could help you in other ways; help you in business, help you as a teacher, or help you by being your friend. The ‘One That Works’ Strategy Ok, so you may have caught on by now. The strategy that works is simple, and it’s no secret. To build powerful networks, you: Must. Add. Value. Period. By focusing on adding value, you’ll attract strong and lasting relationships. By giving others a powerful tip or making a connection that benefits them, you position yourself as an influencer; as someone worth knowing. Plus, when you do this, others are much more likely to make a connection that benefits you. And it doesn’t have to all be business related. Connections can be made by holding open the door or paying a compliment. The best way to build relationships is to start from a humancentric approach. So next time you meet a connection you’d like in your network, ask yourself, “how can I help them?” After all, we’re not born entrepreneurs and professionals, we’re born people. by Chris Stock iamchrisstock.com

It is as simple as if you enjoy knitting, sell scarves. Any passion you have, turn it into profit. It’s just a matter of putting yourself out there to get people to pay for your particular passion. literature major in college, a former single-subject high school English teacher and I didn’t call myself a writer until I had the epiphany, “Not all writers write fiction novels!!”
If you are a good salesman, were you born with that talent? If you are a good singer, did you come out of the womb singing?
When I realized this, I was able to be bold in who I am and what I do. I am a writer… a writer of non-fiction blogs, curriculum, writing instructionals, and I’m adding to that list of types of genres I can write daily.
To the outside world, these experts make it look easy, but only they know how many failures they experienced and how many hours they spent practicing.
You may surprise yourself when you admit that all writers don’t write novels. Admit that you do have specific writing skills that someone else is lacking.
That’s the same for writers. We write and learn every time we write and become better each time, so much so that it looks easy to the outside world.
3. Start a habit.
You no longer have an excuse that says, “I’m just not a writer.” It’s your choice. If you decide that it is important to begin to write, then here are some tips to get you started. 1. Stop being a perfectionist. It doesn’t have to be perfect to write it. Just get it out and begin. As you begin, you will get better. As you practice, you will find what works and what doesn’t. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Learn from your mistakes, and don’t let your fear of making mistakes stop you from writing. You can do this; just start! 2. Try out different forms and genres of writing. Maybe you failed at writing poetry in college. Who cares? Perhaps you will find out that you are amazing at writing sales letters or other technical writing. This is the reason it took me so long to call myself a writer. Even me, a
This tip goes for writers and nonwriters alike. If we want to write, we must create a habit. The blog, book, or document is not going to appear like magic. We have to type or write it there. And writing every once in a while is not sufficient. Join a community of writers, ask for feedback and accountability and do it daily or weekly. 4. Pay someone to transcribe your thoughts. I do most of my writing in my head while I’m doing some mundane tasks: washing dishes, driving or cleaning. If I can’t stop what I’m doing to write, then I just press record on my voice recorder. Later on, I listen to it and write a version of what I hear or send it over to a VA to transcribe for me to publish. Regardless of whether you want to be a “writer” or just want to write to bring yourself recognition, don’t worry about how you start, just start. by Jessica L. Moody Jessicalmoody.com

Starting something new in the business
space doesn’t necessarily have to be a new business or idea, but can be a starting something new that leads you on a direction or path towards a new goal or mission. See, I never sought out to be an entrepreneur but started to find myself in a position of un-fulfillment; I still wasn’t sure what that path looked like as a new potential career or what my first steps would be. Along with my journey as an entrepreneur, I have come across a few tips and tricks that would have been helpful to me coming into the entrepreneurial space. These days it seems everyone wants to become an entrepreneur. They intend to come up with the ‘next best thing’ or ‘next big idea,’ but when they fail to calculate and to decide what that could be. Here are some simple lessons that you need to take the forefront of that journey! 1. Never Stop Networking One of the first things I learned from someone that was very successful in the field I wanted to transition to was the power of networking. Now I am not
3. Don’t Worry About Your Wallet I think this is one of the most important ones in my opinion, especially in my industry. I constantly hear from people who say they want to make an additional stream of income but don’t want to have to spend any money to do so. While it is possible to bring in an additional income stream without spending money, a majority of successful people spend money on things that are going to make them income over just liabilities. 4. Learn How to De-Stress and Not Sweat The Small Stuff I cannot tell you how much more fulfilled I was when I started to not sweat the small things in life. When I began to break down the things that were stressing me out and finding a different way to look at the stressful situation at hand I was able to let go of the burdens that were ultimately holding me back. Being an entrepreneur is something that has become one of the most fulfilling things for me, but it all started with steps that allowed me to ‘start-up’ my startup. I can’t say that doing these steps will guarantee your success, but it may alleviate some of the stressors and allow you to be more prepared and open-minded for the road to come. Just remember a comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing will grow there.

THINK HOW YOUR CUSTOMERS THINK A common mistake among new entrepreneurs is defining their target customer within such traditional demographics like age, gender, marital status, place of residence, etc. A more efficient approach here is to put yourself in your customers’ shoes. What are the reasons why a particular prospect would be interested in your product? What are the factors that can influence them with their decision? 2. MEASURE THE NUMBERS Concrete goals are the best goals. This is the reason why identifying your social media Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) is essential- you’ll be able to gauge or measure the success of your marketing efforts in concrete terms and improve your strategy as needed. Here’s an example. Let’s say you want to build a larger Facebook community around your brand--so you decided to create a private Facebook group for your customers. The metrics to measure here include the number of group members that you have, your group’s growth rate (per unit time), the number of posts made each day, how much engagement is being made on the discussions, and the content that you put out, etc. 3. CHOOSE THE RIGHT SOCIAL NETWORK
The more social networks you’re on, the better, right? Yes and no. Targeting every single social network on the Internet today is not the best strategy if you want a coherent social media campaign. To help you decide which social media platforms are best for your business, here’s a rundown of who’s hanging out on the web’s most popular social networks: Facebook, with its 2+ billion users, is the usual top contender among social networks. Baby boomers, Gen Xers, millennials- they’re are all on there- making it the perfect all-in-one platform if you want to cast a wide net at the start of your campaign. Instagram users are predominantly millennials. LinkedIn is the most “formal” among these networks, attracting seasoned professionals and C-Level executives. 4. PLAN YOUR CONTENT This is where the when, where, what and how, of your content marketing strategy will come into play. What are the kinds of content that you want to produce (articles, videos, infographics, live video, animations)? When will you publish them? WHERE will you post them (Facebook, LinkedIn, your own website)? 5. MAINTAIN AND MEASURE The defining word in social media marketing is SOCIAL. Engagement is a two-way street, and it is crucial to convert followers into customers. Once you’ve got your marketing campaign groove going, it’s time to measure your progress. Using the KPIs you’ve earlier identified, take a step back and see if you’re improving or not. by Alex Cameron signaturesocialconsulting.com

FULL BODY STRETCHING EXERCISES TO TRY AT HOME Cardio workouts and strength training are a keystone of any robust workout program. When preparing for these workouts, the primary focus should remain burning calories, and be building muscles. In this process, one should not forget about stretching. There should be no question whether we should do stretching or not. Stretching is essential, and you can do stretching both before and after the workout. However, stretching before hitting any sort of exercise or weight lifting is essential. Stretching is important, yet often most neglected part of the fitness. Not only while working out, but you should also include stretching and flexibility exercises into your daily routine. Avoiding stretching may result in increased soreness and fatigue. Below is the list of full body stretching exercises you can try at home: 1. Standing Hamstring Stretch This is a great stretching exercise that targets your hamstrings and lower back. You should do this exercise while lying back on the floor if you’re having lower-back issues. Stay in that position and extend your leg upward. Repeat it with both the legs. 2. Standing Quad Stretch The standing quad stretch exercises focus on your quadriceps or the front-thigh muscles. Stretching your quadriceps is really important as tight quadriceps may lead to pain in knee and back, or even result in an injury. You need to be cautious if you’re already suffering from knee or lower-back pain. If you’re having back pain, you may perform the same in a lying position. 3. Standing Biceps Stretch
To improve the range of motion and increase muscle strength, it is crucial that you always stretch your biceps. This exercise stretches the tight muscles in your biceps. There are various types of biceps stretch. One of them is standing biceps. This exercise is beneficial as it also helps in reducing the soreness of the muscles. It also reduces the level of tension in your chest and shoulders. You should ALWAYS stretch your biceps after an upper body workout! 4. Seated Side Stretch Seated Side Stretch stretches the neck, back, shoulders and obliques. This is a perfect exercise for stretching the sides of your body. However, we suggest you remain a little careful if you have any problem in your knees, shoulders or hip area. 5. Triceps Stretch It is critical that you should stretch your triceps. It also reduces the risk of pulling any tight muscle and would provide your muscles flexibility and durability. Always perform triceps stretch after any pressing or armbased workout. It helps in reducing the chances of an injury. by Jorge Gonzales Xtremenodirect.com

How I Started My Business
The End Determines The Beginning
To start your business, the only thing you need is will. A will to win, and a will to take your dream to the next level.
3 KEYS
A lot of times people tell me they wished they could open their own business, they wished they had a partner or the right investor, or of having the funds to start it...
TO YOUR ALPHA FROM
YOUR OMEGA If you want to be happy, set a goal that commands your thoughts, liberates your energy and inspires your hopes. ~Andrew Carnegie
We all hit times when we just want to hit a reset button. We get into a comfortable spot, settle in, get into a groove and then suddenly stop, look back, and wonder how we ended up where we are. Life somehow seems to get away from us. As you reflect, you realize that life has created you instead of you creating a life. Starting something new can be exhilarating yet excruciating, thrilling yet exhausting, energizing yet unnerving. However, if done correctly, it’s also awakening, invigorating, exciting and just plain fun. The best part is that you have a choice. Life doesn’t have to remain the same. You can change it. You can reset your direction and design something that awakens your spirit and sets your soul on fire. When you find yourself wanting to hit that reset button, start with your Alpha and Omega – the beginning from the end. You should know where you want to go before you randomly pick a path. What does your life look like when you get there? What is “there”? What are your surroundings when you wake up? What is your morning routine? How do you spend your day? Carve out every detail of every moment from what your home looks like to how you spend your time to whom you are surrounded by to what you enjoy doing most to what fulfills your heart.

Believe me; you don’t need any of that, I arrived here in the USA with none of the above and knocked at every tailor shop in San Diego looking for a job. After one month of searching for jobs, I finally knocked on the right door of a well-known tailor that gave me a chance. I didn’t even speak English that well to know all the tailor terms in a different language, needles, fabric, threads all of that not one word. But, I did know how to do the job, and I did know I had the goal of opening my own tailor shop one day. After a year of working for someone else’s dreams, I gathered up all my savings and put a deposit to open my very first commercial space. I only had one sewing machine and my will. I knew everything had to work because there was no plan B, so I put my body and soul to the business. I had just opened after the worst year of recession, and most people said I was crazy to begin my journey of business in these times, but it didn’t matter because I had a dream and knew I could make it come true if I didn’t give up. So every day, I worked a little longer, a little harder, and a little better. Soon word started to spread about my business (yes it was all word of mouth, there wasn’t any money for marketing) I added a second sewing machine and other machines that would help reduce the time needed to complete tasks. In 7 years of business I look back and remember all the times I worked non stop and not knowing what would come next and you definitely will too. But you will also look back and see how one day at a time you made your dream come true. It’s not easy, and I advise you to don’t start your adventure thinking you will have more time. That you’ll be freer because you are gonna forget the words, “sleep,” “eat,” “wake-up,” sometimes even to go to the restroom. The only word you will know is “work,” and that word will start to be a part of you, you live for it, and it lives for you. There will undoubtedly be hard times but, every moment will start to feel more and more gratifying with the recognition of your work. The happiness of your client will make you forget those hard moments, and you’ll honestly start to feel that all the hard work was worth it. You must go beyond yourself, and only then you will find YOURSELF. This is how Tailor Love was born, and this is how your business can be born. by Carla Pereira tailorlove.com

It starts as a seedling that in due time becomes a tree. One of the things I enjoyed planting when I was younger was tomatoes. I planted it at a specific spot where sunlight is present, but not too direct that it will dry it down. TRANSFORMING YOUR ‘STRESS TANK’ INTO A
‘FISH TANK’
Leandro Brandao Instagram.com/reefalicious/
You lie there in the silence of the night with a constant worry of what is going to happen the next day. How are you going to pay the bills? What will you get done in the upcoming day to benefit your future? How much more time is needed to make your dreams come true? How can you get out of this constant cycle? All of these thoughts boil the blood in your body and get your mind going. By implementing this one simple strategy, you can not only lower your stress and anxiety but increase your attention span and mood, as well as improve sales. If that sounds great to you, let’s dive in! (Literally.) Owning your own business is a stressful mystery many don’t understand and applause are given to you for pursuing your passion. You see, starting up your own business is ultimately a guessing game, all you can do is hope you guess right. You feel trapped, sort of like a fish in a fishbowl. You feel the water changing around you, but you can never do anything to cleanse your situation. Running your own business is a fulltime job, except you get paid what you earn, rather than getting paid hourly working for someone else’s dreams. This can pile on the stress even more!
Leandro is a ‘Teenpreneur’ whose passion is saltwater aquariums; which have helped him through many tough times. Leandro started an aquarium cleaning service in San Diego called, Reefalicious, as well as co-founded a clothing brand for entrepreneurs called “Enspired.” Leandro pioneered the Young Entrepreneur Society (YES) Club at his school and is now a director at multiple schools. He helps fellow students like him who have the burning desire to start their own business and pursue their passions successfully. He aspires to be the person he wished he had when he was younger.
more fish swimming around. Just by installing an aquarium, you and your employees will be calmer, more relaxed, and be better able to perform more productively. Aquariums don’t just benefit you and your employee’s mood though; they can also relax your customers. By your customers being more relaxed due to the soothing water trickling of your aquarium and your fish elegantly swimming around, your customers will be more inclined to split ways with their money for your product.
Owning a business can be a heart attack waiting to happen. After all, you are responsible for everything and all that pressure builds up and you have no way of relieving that stress.
Think about it, when you were a kid in a dentist and you were getting scared for your “teeth cleaning” you would go STRAIGHT to the aquarium to stare at the fishies, which would subconsciously take your mind off the fact that you’re getting a root canal or something extremely painful. Why not do the same thing for your customers? Granted, your customers may not be there for a root canal, but I think you get the idea.
Countless studies conducted by prestigious universities and news sources have shown that a person’s blood pressure and heart rate will drop when watching an aquarium, even if it doesn’t have fish in it! It has also been shown that you get more benefits with
By investing in an aquarium, you are also investing in your health, your employees’ productivity, and your customers pocket-books. Who doesn’t want to live a more stress-free, calm, and peaceful life?! Plus, they simply look AMAZING!
What if you can’t pay your employees? What if you don’t sell enough this month to pay rent? Or what if your business idea doesn’t explode like you wanted?

Joomla is a potent platform in its own right. However, several people prefer WordPress for their applications, in great part due to its simplicity of use as well as flexibility. Here are a few Steps to Convert Joomla to WordPress: Step 1: Install the FG Joomla to WordPress Plugin With your WordPress website ready to go, we recommend installing as well as activate the FG Joomla to WordPress plugin. Head into your WordPress dashboard as well as to the Plugins tab, then click on Add New. On the next screen, type the full name of the plugin as well as click on Install. When the installation finishes, the ‘Install Now’ button will be returned by Activate. Click on it. For the next step, head over to your Joomla installation but keep your WordPress dashboard open in another tab. Step 2: Locate your Joomla Database Parameters Login to your Joomla backend as well as search the System option at the top of the page, then click on ‘Global Configuration’. Select the ‘Server’ tab as well as find the ‘Database Settings’ section within. We’re searching for the four field’s right below the ‘Database’ Type ‘drop-down’. Keep that information handy, because we’ll need to utilize it. Change to your WordPress tab. Step 3: Migrate your Joomla Content into WordPress Click on the ‘Tools’ tab as well as opt the ‘Import option’. If you checked out this section previous, you might notice it includes a new option now: Joomla FG. This tool to use to migrate Joomla to WordPress. Click on the Run importer to start the process.
On the following page, you’ll search an Empty WordPress content option right near the top. It will remove entire your posts, pages, tags, categories as well as media files – if there’s anything you require to backup, perform so before moving on. If there isn’t, opt for the ‘Remove all WordPress Content’ setting. The removal procedure will take a few seconds as well as afterward, the WordPress database section above will reset to zero. Move down to the Joomla website parameters section as well as paste the URL of your Joomla site in the respective field: Below, you’ll search several more fields under Joomla database parameters. Switch back to your Joomla tab as well as copy each parameter into their individual fields. They all share the similar names on both sections. Then click on ‘Test the database connection’ button at the end of the section. Afterward, head down to search the main import options. The only settings you require to worry about are ‘Archived Posts’ as well as ‘Medias’. For the first, select not imported unless you wish to perform otherwise, and for the latter, select a ‘First content image’ as your ‘Featured Image’. Then enable the Import Meta keywords as tags setting as well as hit save settings. Next, click on the Start / Resume the import button as well as sit back while the plugin works its magic: A success message would emerge once the migration is complete. by Naveen Kumar JDMWebTechnologies.com

IMPOSSIBLE
IS JUST A WORD My best advice for entrepreneurs is: What do you do when you’ve worked hard, but NOTHING is happening? You followed the blueprint, you took the action steps, but nothing happened. Does that mean success isn’t possible? Do we sit and “wait” or do we give up?
Evan A. Dolezal
Today I want to talk about staying on course even when you feel totally overwhelmed, stuck, and anxious. Three years ago I was sitting on my bathroom floor crying. I kept thinking how did my life get to be like this? I was living off of food stamps, I didn’t have money to fill my gas tank, and I felt I would never find love. I wasn’t finding work, and I felt defeated. Three years later, I am fully self-employed as a self-love and confidence coach, in love, and about to get on stage in front of a few thousand people. Wait, you ask… “how did this happen? Something worked for you? Well, that’s great, but this can’t work for me…” The thing is, success isn’t magic. There are no “magic buttons” or “following the steps.”It’s trusting that no matter WHAT, you will come through. No matter how big it looks now, the answer is “When you don’t give up, dreams don’t give up on you.” We are only a 2-millimeter shift from what we want in life. We need to play to WIN, not to lose. At the end of the day, we are only in competition with ourselves. Really, that is the secret sauce. It happens when we are most ready for it. Not when we THINK we are prepared for it! The hardest part is belief. Words such as: “hope, wish, want” are feelings or doubt thoughts. I know, I believe, I will, are faith-based thoughts. It changes our life when we look at things this way. It makes things possible. If you want the success and not the burnout, trust the process that you go through. Often when we are stuck it is because we need to learn something. So, learn this, live this life…trust this process in life. You are it. Anxiety, stress and stuck are all words that hinder our growth. Time to step out and act. by Chelsea Lee Rock chelsealeerock.com

Hey guys, my name is Koala, yes
However, sometimes labels can be a bit deceptive. One of my favorite label tricks is the use of “sugar-free” on packaging which seems to be code for “contains artificial sweetener.” Yes, an artificial sweetener isn’t traditional sugar, so the label isn’t false. However, it is a bit misleading, and you have to read the fine print. Unlike a screw or a diet drink, people come with a multitude of attributes that help to describe them. Sometimes we seem to forget that, or maybe we’ve just become too lazy to dive deeper beyond a superficial interaction. We tend to lump people into a single category. Even though different people know me in different ways, that doesn’t change who I am inside and how I see the world based on my experiences. Labeling me as just a writer, or a Mom, or whatever single limiting category someone puts me in best would be missing my essence. My point is the next time you feel the need to give someone a label, think about what you know about them. You might be missing the fine print on their label that describes what’s inside and thus an opportunity to make a connection: a real connection beyond our computers and smartphones with actual living people. It’s these personal connections that inevitably propel our careers as entrepreneurs and help fulfill our daily lives. by Megan Hanson .linkedin.com/in/meganhanson/

ENTREPRENEUR OF THE MONTH
STEPHEN DELA CRUZ
Our entrepreneur for September is Stephen Dela Cruz. Stephen is known
in the San Diego entrepreneur community for running San Diego’s number one coaching and mastermind program. Stephen was introduced to entrepreneurship at a young age, but not by his parents. He got started on his own by finding beanie babies and reselling them at family events or school. Although Stephen found himself creative with an entrepreneurial spirit at an early age, he spent most of his childhood, let’s just say, not playing by the rules. He was in and out of the system getting in trouble with the law, never believing he would amount to anything at all. He finally reached the breaking point and was sentenced to juvenile hall. Ending up in juvenile hall turned out to be the most impactful event up to this point in Stephen’s life. Here he was told he had two choices in life - live a life of crime or find a mentor and end the cycle. It was also during this time, Stephen found Jesus and began to believe there just might be more to life for someone like him. Stephen chose to end the cycle and by finding a mentor he successfully started his first business. His first venture was photography. Though initially just a hobby, Stephen enjoyed having the best of the best and soon discovered he had to find a way to pay for this new and expensive hobby. He quickly found himself with a vast amount of debt from buying new lenses, cameras, and anything that would move his new hobby forward. It didn’t take long for his mentors to instruct him to either make money off of it or take it back. Stephen chose to make money off of it and that year he went from a massive amount of debt to filing his taxes with multiple six figure incomes. This was just the beginning of Stephen’s time as an entrepreneur. Soon thereafter he found himself owning multiple corporations employing hundreds of employees, but his true passion came in 2015 at the age of 28 when a tragedy fell upon the Dela Cruz household. Up and until this point, Stephen and his wife Angela had been living in a beautiful house in La Jolla, California, where he spent his time running his businesses. This left him overworked and very stressed. One sunny morning while Angela was out of the house, Stephen was deep in the grind when half his body suddenly went numb and collapsed on the floor. He used his tongue to text his assistant who couldn’t hear him calling for help because she was downstairs. She came quickly to Stephen’s aid and called 911. Stephen was so engrossed with a business mindset at this time, that he even argued with the paramedics, stating, “This is not in my budget.” That was the day Stephen realized that if he had died right then and there, he would leave nothing behind in this world except money. His fortune would be quickly handed over to the name brand stores his wife Angela loved so much. It was in that moment, Stephen decided he wanted to leave behind more from his life. He wanted to leave a legacy - a legacy that was not just money. Since finding his true calling two years ago, Stephen now devotes the majority of his time teaching entry level entrepreneurs how to live a life that is fulfilled, successful, and flourishing. It was 2016 when Stephen decided to start his mastermind program to help

a few friends learn the importance of having a budget, personal development, and time freedom. After starting out with a mere nine members, today Stephen’s dream has successfully become San Diego’s largest coaching and mastermind group. When asked what makes his program different, he simply said, “Anything that is healthy grows.” Stephen and Angela have always been devoted to serving their community and solving as many problems as they could. This gives them the edge to think on their feet and solve problems in an instant. A fantastic example is in 2008 when Stephen and Angela had a few real estate holdings. The market took a turn for the worse and it appeared their only option was to sell the real estate for much less than they owed. Having the entrepreneurial mindset they had, they knew there was always more than one option. Somehow they needed to figure out how to turn their real estate holdings into income producing assets. So they hunkered down in prayer and came up with the idea of in-home daycares. This kind of thinking is what it takes to become a high level entrepreneur in today’s world. This kind of thinking is what Stephen wants to inspire in everyone around him. Stephen’s desire with his coaching and mastermind program is to give that same inspiration that he received from mentors so long ago. When asked what his “why” is, Stephen told us, “to leave people fulfilled, successful, and flourishing.” At Stegela Success Mastery, the focus is not just on giving you the success in business you crave, but also teaching you the importance of success with significance. Stephen works tirelessly to build a community that not only focuses on how to build wealth, but also on how to build yourself. When we asked him what the one thing was he wished to inspire in his mastermind group, he replied “I wish to inspire each member to believe in themselves and to live their life to the fullest extent possible.” From that one day in juvenile hall to today, Stephen has spent his time designing himself to be the best leader and teacher he could be. Now he aims to pass that on to you through his mastermind, podcast, and this magazine. One piece of advice Stephen would like to leave you with is that it’s your choice. It’s your choice to do or not do. It’s your choice to become or not become. Whatever the choice you make, make it the best choice for you. There are countless communities of
like-minded people all around the world with specific focuses. If you are someone who would like to start up a community of your own, you must first decide what that focus or shared passion is that you want the core of each person in the community. If you are not in the particular stage that you want to be in, then you must find someone who has achieved the goal or goals that you are aiming for. You do this so that they can assist and mentor you along the process until you are fully capable of to achieve the same results and are able to pass on the knowledge that you implemented. This way you can avoid or confront many challenges the right way instead of slowly figuring out things on your own.
Arturo was born and raised in San Diego California he’s a young entrepreneur with a Mobile Car Detailing business and also helps manage a Residential and Commercial Cleaning Business. He hopes to influence others to discover and achieve their ideal lifestyle
By serving those around you and embracing each other as a community, your actions as a leader will influence others to do the same. Once this is done, the community will grow exponentially while still having a tight connection between its members through their shared passion.
An example of this process can be someone who is aiming to create a car club. By having someone who knows more about cars and maintains them for a living mentor you, you can avoid many mistakes. In order to do this you must first figure out what type of individuals you want to be surrounded with; in this case, it would be people who share the same passion which is having cars of similar styles but also uniquely designed. Then as the one starting the group or community, you must lead by example which would be having your own car always looking nice and fresh and ready for presenting. Once you have established yourself, then you can help those around you who are aiming towards the same goal that you have accomplished in order to able to serve them as part of your community.

If you are finding that you spend way too much time posting on social media, consider hiring someone to take over some of your social media posts for you, or use an automated post planner such as Post Planner, Post Cron, Loomly, HootSuite, Buffer, or Recur Post. 2. Find Something YOU Are Passionate About. No matter what type of business you start, you need to sync it with your core beliefs and opinions. You need to dig deep and find your “why”, to light your fire. Maybe one of the things you are passionate about is serving others. Every successful business owner needs to have a service first mentality. This includes having a strategic follow-up system to serve others effectively and build lasting relationships. Consider signing up for a service that will help in follow up, an organization such as Teamzy or Sendout cards. Use Zoom, Skype, FaceTime, and Messenger Video to connect face to face with your customers. 3. Save Time and Money. Keep track of your expenses, mileage, and income through the Taxbot app. This will protect you in case of an audit and can save you hours of work and thousands of dollars down the road. Take payments through Venmo, Cash App, Messenger Pay, and Apple Pay to avoid fees. Fees are tax
deductible but why not avoid them if you can? Use Tiny Scanner to turn a picture into a PDF file. Use Vistaprint or another service to order your business cards and supplies through. This can help you avoid unnecessary trips to the bank, Fed Ex, UPS, and a copy shop. 4. Connect Better With People. MailChimp is a great way to email all your contacts at the same time. At a networking event, use messenger code to quickly find new contacts and connect with them on Facebook. Use the RedStamp app to create a virtual business card to simply say, “Nice to meet you, looking forward to connecting” or “Look forward to learning more about you” with your picture on it. This is a great way to break the ice and provides you something to send to new friends to help break the ice. 5. Take FULL Advantage of Social Media. Set up accounts with a variety of social media platforms but pick one or two to focus on and post consistently in. Some options are Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin, Youtube, Twitter, Pinterest, and Snapchat. Keep your posts positive, engaging, entertaining, and educational. Stay away from negativity, politics, and drama. Using apps such as pic collage, WordSwag, Over, Typorama, and Canva can help create beautiful and engaging posts without hours of work. When you leverage your time and use these tools, you will attain success. by Lauren Aven LaurenAven.com

Success is happiness (finding oneself) and power (wealth) working as one. Here’s why I feel this way: Today we live in a society where the people are trained to be machines, looked down upon by peers for our human characteristics, and where the confines of society’s norms trap the youth.
You will create opportunities, and you will execute because you want to. As opposed to the majority of the people in the world who fell into society’s trap. These people do everything as if it’s a chore with zero enthusiasm because they haven’t realized they want more in life than working, eating, and sleeping.
Dreams and creative ideas are put down because society doesn’t deem them as becoming “practical jobs” in the “real world.” We are taught to value our job, financial security, and the approval of others rather than teaching financial literacy, finding yourself, what you love, and going after it.
Some of us fear taking risks because we do not know ourselves and move without passion. For example, a “happy” person would choose to go on a journey. They’d take in any obstacles the journey holds, let it shape them, and persistently move forward because they know they want it.
In order to have power, you must first have happiness. You must take a step back from society and see who you are, what you love to do and be knowledgeable about yourself. After doing so, everything you think about, everything you do, every move you make will all be done with passion and finesse, because you know what you want and who you are.
Everyone is born, but not everyone has started his or her lives. Before any great startup, you must first start your life, which begins with finding yourself. So now I ask, what will be your next startup? by Chelsea Lee Rock chelsealeerock.com

BEHIND the Curtain of Business
Everyone has an image of their dream business before crossing over into the ‘Land of Entrepreneurship’. Yes, it’s beautiful but a heart-set is mandatory first. What is a “heartset” you might ask? It’s you keeping the following things at the forefront of your mind and in your heart: •Foundational Question. Oprah Winfrey stated to ask yourself, “What is my truest intention?” Gary Zukav says to ask, “What is the why behind the why?” Our starting place should always be what is my motive for starting the business, writing the book or creating the product? Is it for approval, status or because your purpose won’t let you sleep? Our intentions should be examined at the starting place by our hearts •Monitor Your Cup. Teachers, before you go into a school where you pour all of yourself into your students, it’s your responsibility to fill yourself up first. For nurses and therapists who continuously help other people continuously you have to find ways to help yourself. Us entrepreneurs give and give and give, but you must find ways to give yourself. For men and women that serve our country please find ways to serve yourself. Filling yourself up could look like
journaling, meditating, exercising, praying or reading. It could even be where you schedule time to do the things you enjoy. •Do The Hardest Thing First. It also easier to just to check off things off our “To Do List” by doing the easiest thing. To change it to a “To Achieve List” and be more productive, start with the hardest thing first. Whether it’s having a tough conversation with a business partner or employee, or even responding to an email from a customer. The hardest thing is usually the most important thing! •Guard Yourself From Unwarranted Opinions. NO ONE doesn’t need to speak over you and to you about your dreams and desires. You have to be the sole protector of your vision, goals and dreams. You also have to accept that all the acceptance you need, must come within. You’ve got this because you have always had that “it” factor! Remember to set your heart on these things and I guarantee you that you will soar. by Logan Rena LoganRena.com
Steve Meim has over twelve years of experience working as a professional in the video game industry and is credited with working on award-winning titles that have been enjoyed by millions of people around the world. His success in creating a career where he’s excited to work every single day has inspired him to use video games as a tool to help others to do the same. Want to find out how video games even saved his life? Find him at his link above.
I Want To Use Video Games to Make Money. Where Do I Start?
After 12 plus years of working for arguably the greatest video game company of all time, I’ve literally had thousands of people ask me about what it takes to work in the video game industry. So with that in mind I’d like to take this opportunity to give you my top three ProTips to get you (or someone you know) started on the journey to the perfect video game career: ProTip 1: Be Clear About Why You Want a Career in Video Games So, you know that you want to make money through video games, but what do you want to do? More importantly, why do you want to do it? Do you want to be a professional eSports athlete because you love the heat of competition? Maybe you want to be a professional streamer because you want to bring joy to your viewers? Do you want to be a developer because you love writing epic storylines? Answering questions like these openly and honestly is the first step because once you do, it will help you decide which activities will actually move you closer to becoming a video game professional. For me, I want to make video games because I love using interactive entertainment to empower others to live amazing lives.
ProTip 2: Know Your Strengths Think throughout your life. What are the activities that you naturally gravitated to that people constantly complimented you for? Did you make awesome works of art? Were you voted as most outgoing person in high school? Even if you aren’t particularly great at any one thing yet, your past can provide clues as to what you were “born to do.” The best way to stand out above the rest is to make sure to over deliver in terms of quality and/or quantity. Hard work is par for the course, but what will really set you over the top is by applying hard work to the things that you’re genetically gifted at. For me, I love to help people by nature and I’ve got a knack for mentoring others. Answer this question: What are my top 5 strengths? ProTip 3: Develop Marketable Skill Sets Ok. So you know you love video games. You know what you’re good at. Are you actually developing the combination of skills that someone will pay you for? You may be able to beat Super Mario Brothers in less than 5 minutes, but is anyone paying you for it? If not, that skill by itself may be “worthless.” But perhaps you’re only one small skill away from making your skill SET marketable. Maybe you develop an additional skill as a public speaker and you leverage both of those to do paid leadership talks about “The Top 5 Life Lessons You’ve Learned from Video Games.” Answer this question: What are some possible video game careers I’m interested in and the required skills needed to do them? Now that you’ve narrowed down some possibilities, I’d absolutely love to hear about them and to help continue to guide you along your journey. Feel free to reach out

THE START-UP TO
YOUR LIFE
BEGINS WITH BREAKING CHAINS The start of your new life begins with
you. Your life will not change unless you do. To do this is to break the chains in your life. Chains that hold you back like self-doubt, fear, pleasing others before yourself, or finances for example. Recently I have looked back on the journey I have been on and have realized that I have had to break through various chains in order to get where I am now. From going to a different high school from my peers, to joining the Marine Corps right after graduating, to joining a business mastermind group, I would not be where I am now if I had not made the changes in my life that I made. The start of your best life begins with you breaking the chains that hold you back. Here are three nuggets of advice that have been helpful for me and that will help you to start-up the life you want. 1. Listen to yourself I didn’t always think the way I think now. And that began with listening to a question I kept asking myself. While I was getting ready to transition out of the Marine Corps, I had two choices (or so I thought) - school or the workforce. However, I kept asking myself the same question over and over again. “Is this all there is?” That simple question led me to look for answers which led me to reading different books and looking for people who thought the same way I did. This opened the door to new possibilities, new challenges, and new people. If you are tired of where you are right now, whether it be your job, financial status, or your relationships, you must listen to yourself.
James Adalberto Nelson frontofficesolutions.org James Nelson is a Sales Manager, student, speaker and featured author. James’ journey began when he was transitioning to the civilian world and kept asking himself the questions “is this it?” This question made him seek answers and boy has James found out plenty. He now speaks and writes on mindset and has helped entrepreneurs, business men and women as well as high school students break their mental chains to achieve even greater success. Do not be afraid to try new things, to invest in yourself, or even fail at something. Know that there are no failures, only experiences that allow you to learn and grow and allow you to step into yourself and become who you truly are. 3. Take action This is the most important step! Once you know there is something more out there, act upon it. Don’t just sit around and watch the life you want pass you by. Actively look for others who are moving in the direction you want to go. Learn a new skill. Do something that scares you. These actions will allow you to learn more about yourself and will help you get pointed in the right direction. If you tried something that you found you didn’t like, great! Now you know that for yourself and have an experience that will influence your next decision. My friends, if you truly want to startup your life, it has to start with YOU! So go out and break those chains that hold you back and weigh you down!
2. Do not give into fear Do not let the new and unknown sway you from your course. Embrace them!

The picture in our head Stop focusing on “supposed to be” What messes people up in life the most is the picture we create in our head of the way life is supposed to be. We are our own worst critics, and when the script doesn’t match the film, we play upstairs with our emotional, physical, and mental well-being suffer. Life101 states we are “supposed to” graduate from high school then college, start a successful career, meet “Mr. Right” and get married, buy a house, have kids, raise those kids, work until we retire, and then become the best grandparent. Well, guess what?? The straight and narrow path has a few rocks, turns, and changes of surface. The asphalt isn’t always so smooth. Adversity builds character, and the entrepreneur’s mind knows how to create positivity from these changes on the path. The creative mind finds a way. Focusing on the way life is “supposed to be” equates to missed opportunities, missed adventures, and missed experiences, that can leave one asking, “What if??” What if I would have married him and decided not to go to the law school?? That person may never have had their law practice, helped the innocent, or work as a law professor at the school they attended. The risks we take often take us to the incredible destinations we never thought possible. I took the biggest risk by opening my fitness studio. I took another chance by trying bodybuilding. My latest risk is pursuing my Doctorate. Was I “supposed to” go into debt? Push my body to its limits? Or take on such a time-consuming endeavor?? There are plenty of events in my life that have confused and upset me because they weren’t supposed to happen that way according to life’s basic 101. I have written the script for the movie of my life based on what I have determined it is “supposed to” be. Comfort zones were never my friend. Life would be pretty bland if we always stuck to what is considered generally assumed or believed to be RIGHT. I guess I turned LEFT and decided that this is the way my life is “supposed to be.” I’m happy with where I am and will keep writing the script to the film that best suits my life’s story. I lead by example, not by the opinion of others. Truth be told, I don’t want to know if I’m “supposed to be” doing this any other way, because I’m helping a lot of people, becoming the best version of me, and attaining a very high level of education while at it. by Megan Johnson McCullough everybodysfitoceanside.com
5 TIPS TO HOSTING A
SUCCESSFUL MASTERMIND
Masterminds are a great way to get to the bottom of a problem or come up with new ideas. A mastermind is a brain trust of intelligent minds in one room all focused on one task or topic which can be ongoing or a one-time thing. Ideas swirl around, and at the end, a consensus is found after everyone has shared questions, opinions, and data about the subject. So what makes a successful mastermind possible? Here are some points to keep in mind when planning a mastermind to maximize its success.

1. Create a Diverse Group Have a variety of opinions and people of differing status, age and views to give an alternative perspective and to challenge others. Keep in mind that bigger isn't always better. The more people you have, the less time each person will have, and it is harder to stay on track. 2. Plan and Prepare My favorite part! Structure how the event is going to run and who is going to be the person in charge. Divide the session up in time blocks for each subject, question or person. Choose who is going to ensure that the time blocks are respected. 3. Break the Ice! Some subjects that people want to get to the bottom of are not easy to talk about, which is why there is no clear answer. Have an icebreaker at the beginning to ease the tension. This can be a game or an adult beverage. 4. Privacy! No phones is a great way to go! People will feel more at ease; if this is not available let your guests know that what is spoken about in the room stays there. This will allow your guests to speak honestly.

5. Summarize Have one person take notes. At the close of the event, summarize the solutions that were given to the problem or hypothesis. Send these in writing to the participants after the session. Bonus!

BIKE RIDING Learn to Ride the Bike
Ruby Deinla
BeYourPassion.org
Recall the first time you got onto a
bicycle. Were you successful? Were you confident? If you are like most people, the answers to the previous two questions are no and no. Starting a new venture [or even a new habit] is a lot like learning to ride a bike. When you fall, you get back up. Here are those words again: when you fall, you get back up. Please note the text, it says when, it does not say if. It will happen. Have you ever met someone who has tried to ride a bike and has never fallen? Does falling off a bike mean you are a failure of a bike rider? If your answer is yes, then I advise against your next big change. Who you were in the past doesn’t dictate who you will become moving forward, who you are today does. As you develop new skills in life and/or business, you are empowered with a choice in how you let your past experiences “falling” define your actions. Will you cower and quit? Or will you learn and go again? Get Started and Keep Going by Aligning with Your Vision I pursued my first start-up in college a summer house painting business. It definitely was not the most glamorous experience, and it was not easy, but it was more fulfilling than anything I had ever done up to that point in my life. The only way to truly fail at something is to quit. You don’t learn to ride a bike once you start because you quit. It is not because you’re not capable. You quit when your vision isn’t strong enough to keep you engaged despite distractions. You quit because you don’t have a strong enough vision. You quit when your vision isn’t important enough to hold onto when challenges test your resilience or when challenges check to see if you want it badly enough.

I want to take you back to that day when you make that big decision that would change your life forever. The day you start this Path Called Entrepreneurship. What was the dream behind it? Maybe having more time, or endless possibilities, or freedom, changing the world or all of the above? We all know that being an Entrepreneur can be a very harsh and lonely path, trying to learn as much as you can from your mistakes, having more falls than victories and above all, being the only responsible for all the decisions that you make. And sometimes, during this new life, we can really forget what it was all about at the very beginning.
Her major passions include long term work/life balance, health, and fitness. She’s currently working on a women’s empowerment project. So be on the lookout for this rising star!
For me being an entrepreneur always meant freedom, freedom for me and for anyone else I could reach out to, It was about changing the world, dreaming big and embracing my greatness even when enormous challenges got in the way.
I had bad employees and unhappy customers. [Don’t worry there were also good employees and very happy customers, too!] My friends had barbecues that I didn’t go to. I even had a painter stop coming to work because he went to jail! But it didn’t stop me because my vision was stronger than that.
But sometimes, along the way, between the fear of losing, the fear of missing and the: I have no idea what to do; next, we may lose sight of our real reasons.
I was personally committed to building traction in the spring and producing over the summer. My vision was that I could achieve something few students could say they accomplished. It was absolutely important to me to finish what I started. At the end of my endeavor, I had produced $60k in revenue. I had hired four of my own employees and learned some business basics first hand. I found fulfillment in proving what I was capable of to my friends and family, but most importantly to myself. Let’s get back to basics: why do you get up after you fall off that bike? What do you want to accomplish? Where do you want to go? Are your desires greater than your setbacks?

I want you to connect for a moment with that dream, with that precise moment when you made that decision that changed your life forever, remember that feeling, that sensation, maybe some fear, many doubts, and that urge inside of you filled with hope and excitement. Maybe that moment happened years ago, perhaps you are still on
the way to get where you dreamt of being, perhaps you have some days when you feel ready to give up wondering if “that” was the right decision, maybe… But today, I want to invite you to take a leap of faith again, to go back to that moment when it all got started, please write down everything you can remember, what motivated your change? What was your dream? How did it feel? Close your eyes for a second and Imagine you are back at that precise day. Check all your senses, and connect again with each one of them. And now I want you to ask yourselves this questions: 1.What I am doing today, is it in alignment with my dream? 2.Do I take every day at least one action that gets me closer to my dream? 3.Do I feel the same excitement I had on that day? And if not, what can I do to get it back? 4.How will I feel the day I accomplished my goal? The first of many. (Make sure you honestly feel it in your body, your heart, and your soul). Now it is time to be grateful, to enjoy that precious moment, take some time to stay present to how will you feel when you make it. Like I heard so many times: “Make decisions from where you want to be” and for that, you need to remember where you are going. “You were designed for accomplishment, engineer for success, and endowed with the seeds of greatness” - Zid Ziglar by Sylvia Chavez “America’s Love Queen” sylviachavez.com

MY BEST ADVICE
FOR ENTREPRENEURS
3 WAYS
My Best Advice for Entrepreneurs is: 1. BURN THE SHIPS Too many people go into business with a Plan B in mind. True entrepreneurs that really love and believe in what they are doing are prepared to die for it. They are willing to work 24 hours if necessary. Real entrepreneurs don’t work 9-5; instead, they get into a flow of commitment and build their business. Let me make this clear. I am not advocating for entrepreneurs to neglect their health and family. Balance is necessary to sustain an entrepreneur long term. I am a huge believer in balance, which is why I just wrote a book called, “How You Can Have it All.” Balance is necessary to sustain an entrepreneur long term. However, I do want to get rid of the myth that entrepreneurs can start a business, get a stack of business cards, rent out a 5,000 square foot office, purchase expensive furniture for the office, get a membership at the local country club, play golf every day, come in at 11:00 am, and take a long lunch. My friends, these type of entrepreneurs are why the majority of people that go into business fail. People that go into the real world of entrepreneurship pay now so they can play later. The mindset of a true entrepreneur is to say no to the good so that they can answer yes to the best. They bury every other option and do whatever it takes to succeed. 2. BE ABOUT CASH: Way too many entrepreneurs get in the trap of busy work instead of doing actions that make cash. My advice is to be extremely conservative. If you think you are conservative already, you are probably not being conservative enough. You need to minimize as many expenses as possible. For the first 3-5 years, you shouldn’t even be thinking about getting a lot of cash. Most entrepreneurs foolishly spend every bit of money they make. Wise entrepreneurs that are in it for the long haul and are trying to build a business will pretend like they have no extra money. They will focus on their basic needs and invest all their efforts into actions that will make them money. Every day, you need to ensure that each step you are taking is bringing in cash for your business. Live a frugal lifestyle because when you have cash, you have the power, freedom, and ability to market. You sell differently when you have cash in your bank account. I don’t care if you have to sleep on your grandma’s couch, sell everything you own, or stay in your car for a couple of nights. Focus on getting cash, saving, and budgeting so that your cash flow can go directly to your business. 3. BE RELENTLESS ABOUT A DAILY SALES PROCESS: It all comes back to habits. Successful entrepreneurs are the ones that have a process and marry themselves to it. They do it on the good and bad days. They do on those long Tuesdays and even after they land that big account. Once again, I’m all about balance. You need to take care of your body, mind, and spirit. You need to run a business while still maintaining healthy relationships with your family. However, don’t get the mentality that every time you have a breakthrough you are going to take the day off. This is what’s wrong with most salespeople. When they hit their quota, they decide to take the rest of the month off. You need to keep selling with the same passion and commitment whether you hit your quota or not. Your sales process does not need to change one bit. Be known as the entrepreneur that is a hustler and a salesman. Be proud of being referred to as a salesman and sell every second of the day. Put your focus on selling and marketing, and you will have ultimate success as a young entrepreneur. My friends, know this. It will not be easy. You will have to sacrifice your time and give up a lot of things. It might even be lonely; however, the entrepreneur’s life has so many positives. Be thankful that you have the highest privilege in the world, which is to be called an entrepreneur. by Matt Maddix maddixpublishing.com

You’ve come up with a great idea that you know has the potential to help a lot of people, innovate an industry, and even bring in a sizeable return. You are ready for your startup! Here are three common sayings that I often hear thrown around in the startup world and the sobering secrets I unearthed in my own startup disasters! “Just Start!” (with the right step) The first steps I took when I decided to start a yoga studio business: I told a friend with an equal absence of experience in yoga startups and engaged a commercial real estate agent. The former friend became my business partner in the venture. We then later found 3 amazing spaces that we just couldn’t pass up. Never having been in the yoga industry nor owning a brick and mortar business, my logical first step should have been to seek expert mentorship. Recently, I was involved in the beginnings of another startup, but this time, in addition to just starting I also sought out expert guidance. I had a conversation with a friend who had been involved with many startups of a similar nature. That conversation caused me to take a step back. He exposed my blind spots. “Make your first step research. Lot’s of it.” Done Is Better Than Perfect (and there are significant risks involved) As I listened to my friend give me the rundown of what I should be considering, I happened to blurt out, “well, you’ve identified we have a great idea, and I think I’m just going with the notion that done is better than perfect.” My done yoga business was really done

within fifteen months with disappointed customers, destroyed friendships, major financial losses, and death threats. While getting things done and not falling victim to analysis paralysis and comparanoia, can work quite favorably in some instances, getting things done in a way that has been expertly guided for success is a much smarter course of action. This leads me to the next commonly thrown around adage you may derive false confidence from. “Your Network is Your Net Worth” (if you know what to ask) Success is not a by-product of osmosis, despite what the saying may have you believe. Had I asked the right questions, I would have discovered that we absolutely did not have sufficient resources to sustain a new yoga studio business. Are you actually taking the time to build relationships to ask the questions that will allow you to benefit from the brilliance of your network and contribute to your success? Or are you showing up at functions and taking selfies? And in that mastermind you’re paying for, are you challenging your mentor and peers to answer the tough questions? Or are you happy to just be leveling up your connections? As a leader in your space, you are a startup! Arm yourself with the knowledge through research, guidance, and mentorship and the network that will support your steady rise to stable success.

SYLVIA CHAVEZ
Sylvia helps others embrace their power by believing to create. She works with those who feel unloved, unworthy, and broken-hearted and guides them to healing and forgiving and rebuilding their heart to a loving heart again. As an entrepreneur, Sylvia knows very well the ups and downs of this lifestyle. Her biggest challenges to date have been moving from Argentina to America four years ago. She left the comfort of what she knew to come to a place completely unknown, including a language she did not know well. It was a time of huge shifts for her, a time of challenges that struck her to her core. Her thoughts went to the many thoughts of doubt we all have. Am I enough? Can I adapt to this new world? Can I overcome this new language? Sylvia adamantly believes in the strength of a woman with a purpose. Every single day she had to look deep within herself and find the wisdom and strength to succeed. She knows she is not alone. With the help of her family and mentors, Sylvia powered through all those new obstacles that moving to a new country created and today she is here with a mission that has nothing to do with herself as a person. Years ago when Sylvia was going through one of the darkest moments in her life she decided she wanted to give love to everybody. She found a master, a coach of some sort, and asked her how she can give love. Sylvia told her that she was ready to open her heart and give it all. The master took one deep look into her eyes and told Sylvia she could not give what she did not have. In order to give love, you have to have your heart so full and filled with love that it overflows. And once it’s overflowing, that’s when you are ready to give love – a true love, not a love from scarcity, but a real love. At that moment, Sylvia didn’t quite understand what she was being told, she just was not ready. Through the years and thanks to the help of coaches and mentors, Sylvia finally got to be where she always wanted to be. Fifteen years ago, she finally met the love of her life. Now her heart is overflowing with love; she feels loved and loves every single minute of every single day. Sylvia has found her purpose - to be the person who embraces and symbolizes love. Because the need for love is so important in our world today, Sylvia’s mission is to teach people how to love and be deeply loved and how to really embrace love in all areas of their lives by unlocking your Unique Love Code. That’s how Sylvia started nurturing the idea of what today has become “America’s Love Queen.” For Sylvia, if everyone would truly embrace love in true, deep connections, the world would be a much better place and that would impact 30 LIFE LBDMAGAZINE.COM 30 BY DESIGN SEPTEMBER 2018the whole society.
Sylvia feels her most epic moments to date are overcoming fears. By putting herself “out there” she received many great things in return. She has read books by people she has now met in person. She writes and delivers value to readers of this magazine. She speaks, hosts events, and coaches people one-on-one and helps them heal their hearts and souls. She is now writing her own book and building her life in a way that brings her tremendous rewards. She has experienced much growth and knows it’s all because she allowed herself to be open to receive it. When asked what she would like to see more of in entrepreneurs, Sylvia said, “more passion, more open hearts.” She feels most are too afraid to show vulnerabilities because there’s a belief that being vulnerable is being weak. Sylvia encourages you to embrace who you are and those experiences that have made you who we are. Being vulnerable is not being weak. It’s just the opposite - once you show yourself and open your heart, every door will magically open. Sylvia’s mission is to empower each and every one of you to live love. If you have a pain, a belief that may be stopping you or limiting you or making you feel miserable, reach out to her. She will help you heal and return your soul to a soul full of outpouring love.

“Midas Touch” by
BOOK REVIEW
Everyone has the ability to become successful in the same manner that we can get up if we decide to get up. It’s the inner desire that drives the engine, ignites the fire within our inner selves that get us going. First, we must get our hands dirty, what do I mean by this, just like farmers must plow the soil, plant the seeds, water the field, and more in order for a harvest to occur. To be a successful entrepreneur we too need to take the right necessary actions in order to achieve greatness & results. Just like most successful people in the world, it may seem easy as if they have the “midas touch” per se, we know that there are numerous trials and errors that they had to go through before succeeding. This book reminds us to acknowledge and that in reality everything we need is right in front of us, and it’s up to us to choose to avail it. Great illustration of using our hand as the key elements of what makes an entrepreneur successful. Each fingers represent a vital role and principles if all applied may make one different from the rest, self-creating a “the midas touch” effect. A point that drove home, again, is having strong intrapersonal skills that you can control the self-talk, that self-doubt, that holds us back from massive success. This reminds me of our mentor saying, “to heal a person, you must first heal the inside”. How important it is to have a sound mind and soul. We always hear this a lot, “hire specialists”. Successful people have the team of teams. They use the power of leverage; in people & resources. For sure there are lots of nuggets you will get to improve and find ways to build a successful team or what we like to call it, “the dream team” in this book. Overall, this book is an easy read and easy to understand life & business principles that is ready to be applied. Find one or two things that resonated with you and decide to apply it. Hope you enjoy this book as much as we did. Happy reading! by Jennifer Meim & Eric Chan StegelaSuccess.com

WHAT IS YES? YES stands for Young Entrepreneur Society. We are a California Nonprofit 501(c)(3) that serves high schools on a weekly basis. Every week our team of volunteers hosts school clubs during their lunch breaks to bring them FREE lunch & activities, speakers, and videos around the spirit of entrepreneurship.
WHY YES? Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death in teens between 13 and 18. Depression and anxiety are the number 1 and 2 mental illnesses suffered among students in high school. 1 out of 6 teens have seriously considered suicide. 1 out of 12 have attempted suicide. 78% of students have started drinking alcohol. 42.5% of students have used drugs. Of that, 25% have used hard drugs such as cocaine, LSD, and Ecstasy. 50% of students have been bullied online. Every 26 seconds a student drops out of high school. We believe this is due to lack of purpose and lack of vision. Our team comes in every week to bring the spirit of entrepreneurship to give hope and vision for their future! We focus on goal setting, personal development, budgeting, serving, team building, etc.
GET INVOLVED! We are looking entrepreneurs, business professionals and companies who will become financial parters with YES on a monthly basis to impact the students of San Diego!
