FINNISH DESIGN THRIVES FROM TIMELESS QUALITY AND CLOSENESS WITH NATURE The product design field has been always strong in Finland and design is a natural part of Finns’ everyday life. Finland´s golden design era started in the 50´s and 60´s – and these timeless design products are still in production and loved by Finns today. Nowadays, a new generation of young designers has stepped in and many companies are collaborating with fresh talents, creating new classics. Finnish design is known for its timelessness, for being of exceptionally good quality and for its high artistic value. At the moment, Finnish design is going through a progressive phase where crisp creativity is boiling to the surface. Closeness to nature and honesty are evidently present in Finnish design, yet there’s a novel urban touch to this new point of view. Although Finnish design belongs to the Scandinavian family, it often stands out as the bold, playful one.

EcoFurn products are ideal for both indoor and outdoor use, saunas, spas, terraces and garden. Different wood types and colors offer a large variety for every atmosphere. The products are simple and yet visually appealing, providing the space for the most important – the Nature. Our EcoChair has a unique form and shape, made of carefully selected wood and rope only. The original idea behind the first collection was to combine illustrators’ art prints into an everyday useful item. This is still our goal today: to combine illustrators’ original design works with items to use and cherish in your home. We work with talented up-and-coming designers & award winning illustrators and artists who paint, draw and cut from paper wonderful patterns. We want both our patterns and products to last and keep bringing joy to your home past seasonal trends.

LOVI - WOODEN CREATIONS FROM THE FORESTS OF FINLAND LOVI Ltd is a family-run company based in Northern Finland. We produce flat-packed 3D figures from wood, designed and patented by Anne Paso.

WE PLANT TREES The wood for LOVI products comes from the forests of Finland where replanting is always done after felling. Today these northern forests are growing at a faster rate than they are felled.

LOVI products are made in Finland from the highest quality PEFC certified birch plywood. The products are easy to assemble without any tools and always flat-packed, making sending them just as easy.

We hope that the same will be true worldwide some day soon! To help make it happen we donate part of our revenue to replanting schemes in areas of the world affected by drought, erosion and floods. The planting is done with local people, always taking local circumstances and tree species into consideration.

The smallest LOVI products are 3D puzzle postcards and the largest ones up to 4-meter-tall trees. Slotting cleverly together the beautiful LOVI shapes provide a sense of wonder as they take shape and come alive. All with the added satisfaction of working with your hands!

Since 2009 we have already planted 35 000 trees – and our goals is to multiply this number through our ongoing support for replanting.

LumoKids is a furniture series for children. Young and talented Finnish designers have created the beautiful designs. The aim of the brand is to provide customers with products that are beautiful for the parent but playful for the child. As much as the designs are beautiful they also take into account the needs of the families. The products are designed to fit into small spaces and in many cases they can be used for different purposes. As an example the mushroom stool can hide inside of it a huge amount of toys and the Ketara bed can be used as a bunk bed or flipped around and be used as a canopy bed. All the products are made from natural materials. The wood parts are made from birch plywood and the fabrics are cotton

or leather. Because of the natural and durable materials, the products are made to last. And in the end of their lifecycle they can be easily recycled.

The business is family owned. Parents of three children wanted to have ecological and beautiful interiors for their little ones. They realized quite soon that the options available were fairly limited. An old dream of theirs own business finally found a great target. With the help of five young designers they created the series that have attracted attention since the launch. The founders wanted to have the production close to them in Northern Europe to be able to better monitor the quality of the products.

美しいデザインであるということ、そしてそれと同じ程度に、家族たちからのニーズも考慮に入れております。製品はどれも限られたスペースでもよく収まるように設計され、また多くの場合はさまざまに違った目的のためにも使用可能となるようにデザインしていります。例えば、マッシュルーム型腰掛はその中にたくさんのおもちゃをかくし収納することが可能であり、「ケタラ」ベッドは二段ベッドとして、もしくは反転させて天蓋付きベッドとしてもご使用になれます。

全ての製品は自然素材から作られております。木製部分は白樺合板で作られており、生地は綿かレザーです。自然素材と耐久性のある素材であるため、製品は長持ちするように作られております。そしていずれ寿命が来た時には、その素材は容易にリサイクルすることが可能です。

めにもあればと願っておりました。しかしその後まもなく彼らが直面したのは可能な選択肢はかなり限定されているという現実でした。昔から彼らが抱いていた夢、自営ビジネスに向けてようやく大きなターゲットが見つかりました。そして5名の若いデザイナー達の助けを得て、ルモキッズシリーズを創り上げました。このシリーズは公開の以来高い関心を集めています。創立者たちは製造部門を自身に近い北欧に持つことを希望しており、それを実現しました。はすべてフィンランドで作られており、それによりより良い品質管理を可能としたのでした。

Metsä, a park featuring “The Moomins”, the first outside Finland, will be opened at Lake Miyazawa, less than one hour from central Tokyo. FinTech Global Incorporated (head office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; president: Nobumitsu Tamai; hereafter, “FGI”) will open a gateway to the world of the Moomins— highly popular characters in their homeland of Finland as well as Japan— with a theme park built over an expansive area with Lake Miyazawa as the centerpiece in the city of Hanno, Saitama Prefecture. The majestic landscape, showcased by the lake itself and the forested lands around it, is the perfect setting for the world of Moominvalley, a place of great natural beauty that is home to the Moomins, and to emphasize the concept of coexisting

with nature, which is an enduring theme in the Moomin stories. The theme park will comprise two zones: The Moomin Zone will offer attractions that enable visitors to enjoy the storybook world of the Moomins. The Public Zone, taking into account that local residents have become accustomed to using the area around Lake Miyazawa for jogging and walking, will be maintained as a public park that everyone can visit on a routine basis at no cost. This will also be a place for natureinspired activities for all to enjoy. The two zones with their Nordic touch will foster a new world perspective that promotes a greater familiarity with the majestic scenery beyond big city limits.

It all started in 2003, when a young and inventive entrepreneur and designer, Satu Somero, started to weave table textiles in her own living room. She wanted to make traditional handicraft with a modern twist – to produce highquality textiles that would find their way into modern homes. It took some years and lots of creativity and willpower to create the extensive range of high-quality products the company makes today. Since she started, the collection has expanded into two lines: high-quality linen textiles and the innovative recycled Pisa Fabric line, which is hand-woven from recycled videotapes and linen in traditional looms. Yes! Old videotapes, can you imagine?

Nowadays, Pisa Design product lines include sauna and spa textiles, furnishing textiles, textiles for storage, handbags, laptop, tablet and phone bags, travel textiles, as well as kitchen and dining textiles. You name it. All products are developed and ecologically made in Finland and in the Baltics. We hope customers will be delighted with their Pisa Design products. Secto Design is a Finnish company specialized in design lights hand-crafted of top-quality local birch wood. The entire lighting collection is designed by awarded Finnish architect Mr Seppo Koho and shares the same clear and timeless Scandinavian feel. The design of the lamps is both classic and contemporary, and the forms of the shades are simple, yet interesting. Our production is strongly based on production development. Products are made of 100 % polyester felt cloth, and without any solvent or other chemical substances. All products are easy to install and they can be re-located and modified afterwards. In addition to our existing product range also custom made products are our specialty. We have tested our panels into best absorption class A (EN ISO 11654). Sustainability is also very important part of our company policy, and we use recycled materials.
