FL Korea 2017

There has been a significant shift in the Finnish fashion scene during the past 5 years as Finnish designers have established themselves through international competitions such as Festival d’Hyerès, #ITS International Talent Support, International Fashion Showcase, H&M Design Award and Designer´s Nest. At the same time Finnish fashion brands have started to appear in the most important fashion magazines such as different editions of Vogue and Elle, Wallpaper and Dazed & Confused. This is a new phenomenon in a country formerly best known for its architecture and product design. Designers create their collections fearlessly and typically experiment with different materials and techniques as part of the design process. The result is a style that is as unique as it is recognizable as Finnish design. Designers are especially proud of the quality and sustainability of Finnish design, the development of new, award winning renewable materials is part of the new era of the fashion scene in Finland.

Aarikka represents unique Scandinavian design inspired by Finnish nature since 1954. Our mission is to bring pure joy into people’s lives – drops of joy that last over time. Finnish nature and the forest have always provided a foundation for our design. Our products are primarily made from wood and other natural materials. Eco-friendliness and sustainability are of the utmost importance to us. That’s why we choose only the best wood for our raw materials. The light colours and beautiful surfaces of maple and

birch mean they are the best-suited for painting with bright colours. Pine on the other hand is suitable for products which seek to provide a warm atmosphere and strong surface patterns. The majority of our jewellery is manufactured by hand in Finnish homes by employees who work from home. Our home products are assembled in Finnish work centres that support employment.Handicraft skills are a valuable part of Finnish identity and culture. We continuously work to promote them by employing numerous Finnish craftspeople.

Combining the rich, craft heritage, with our fresh take on fur fashion - allows us to re-shape the modern fur in our own image. By using our natural intuition of the cold, we create coats with a confident cool and refined simplicity, giving an effortless edge to any

Lovi Ltd is a family run company based in Northern Finland. We produce flat packed 3D figures from wood, designed and patented by Anne Paso. The products are 100% made in Finland and made from the highest Finnish quality, PEFC certified birch plywood. The products are assembled by hands without any tools. The smallest Lovi products are envelope size and easy to send while the largest one is a 4-metertall Spruce Tree. Slotting cleverly together the beautiful Lovi shapes provide a sense of wonder as they take shape and come alive. All with the added satisfaction of working with your hands.

THE STORY “I wanted to create a wooden bauble for Christmas trees as an alternative to plastic ones in 2001. The very first version was a stick with veneer pieces glued to it. I quickly realized that it should be like a 3D puzzle, so that the end user is the one who has the satisfaction of putting it together. A new type of joint made the idea realizable as the pieces slot easily together. The package was then given a postcard-like label, and the product was ready to be sent. The very first samples were sent as season’s greetings all around the world in 2003. Inspired by the encouraging start I keep designing new creatures to the Lovi World.”

MARITA is a Finnish lifestyle brand which has been described as currently the most exciting Finnish fashion brand. The MARITA collections are not only a fashion statement, but also a statement of character. The concepts and designs intend to challenge the way things are normally done. The collections appeal to strong, independent and determined women who are used to go their own way – usually not the easy way. The MARITA collections stand also for the contrasts between summer and winter. In Finland and its people this contrast is so wide, like nowhere else. Nature has been the starting point Marita’s designs, for both inspiration and as a source for materials. It is a relationship of respect and co-operation. It is important to recognize the heritage we yield from, yet to live knowingly in the modern cosmopolitan world.

MARITA designs two seasonal collections including ready-to-wear, accessories and shoes. The mood of the collections is influenced by the spirit of Finland. The design of spring-summer collection is light & colourful like the summer time in Finland. The autumn-winter collection is dark and mystic like the winter time in Finland.

pisadesign.fi

It all started in 2003, when a young and inventive entrepreneur and designer, Satu Somero, started to weave table textiles in her own living room. She wanted to make traditional handicraft with a modern twist – to produce highquality textiles that would find their way into modern homes. It took some years and lots of creativity and willpower to create the extensive range of high-quality products the company makes today. But she sure did it. Since she started, the collection has expanded into two lines: highquality linen textiles and the innovative recycled Pisa Fabric line, which is hand-woven from recycled videotapes and linen in traditional looms. Yes! Old videotapes, can you imagine?

Nowadays, Pisa Design product lines include sauna and spa textiles, furnishing textiles, textiles for storage, handbags, laptop, tablet and phone bags, small furniture, travel textiles, as well as kitchen and dining textiles. You name it. All products are developed and ecologically made in Finland and in the Baltics. We hope customers will be delighted with their Pisa Design products. And because we care, we want to ensure the products we make are safe for customers, the environment and for the people who make them.
