JOHNSTONS OF ELGIN J ohnstons of Elgin looks back to go forward this season, taking inspiration from Mongolia, Peru and Scotland to bring the story of their Autumn Winter collection to life. The brand explores the origins of its fine fibres, referencing South American skylines, ice-capped Mongolian Mountains and the landscapes of the Scottish Highlands in striking knitwear, outerwear and accessories for both men and women. Updated detailing gives their Men’s classic proposal a contemporary lift, while innovative designs create a new benchmark in Cashmere and Merino Wool tailoring. Creative Director Alan Scott said, ‘The collection is divided into three platforms, each with its own concept, and they can all work together. We connect the collection back to its fibre roots, Mongolia our home of Cashmere, Peru for our unique source of precious Vicuna, the Australian outback supplying our pure Merino Wool and Scotland for iconic tartans, tweed and Fair Isles.’

Men’s Athluxe separates are straightforward and sophisticated, with minimalist detailing and refined styling. The introduction of Australian Merino Wool to this lifestyle capsule provides an accessible price point. Modern Layering pieces utilise Whole Garment Technology for a seamless finish, including an engineered Merino Wool jacket, which perfectly bridges the gap between knitwear and tailoring. Alan explained that three years of development have gone into the new collection, and the brand has approached it with the clarity of 20/20 vision. The seasonal Origins 20/20 edit takes inspiration from around the globe, reflecting the rich textures, colours and patterns of Peru and Mongolia and referencing original art, textiles and ancient symbolism in contemporary designs.

Women’s Athluxe and Travel pieces remain relevant for home, journeys and off-duty activities, with an expanded range featuring clean lines and luxurious silhouettes in new fibres. Updated detailing such as flatter, deeper neck trims and more relaxed shapes, give classic knitwear pieces a contemporary lift, and the brand introduces a new coordinated knit dressing system across different gauges. Patterns and weaves are influenced by a traditional Panama hat, an estate tweed jacket, Inca motifs and a Mongolian herding jacket.

Traditional colours underpin both the men’s and the women’s collections, with highlights of Ice-Water Aqua, Amber, Harissa and China Blue along with Lotus Pink and Gold.
