Lillstreet loves Ravenswood. We want to write it all over our notebooks and scratch our devotion into nearby park benches and trees. This August marks the 10th year in our current Ravenswood location, and we couldn’t be happier about choosing to spend the past decade in this cheerful, inspiring neighborhood. On Friday, August 23rd, come out to Lillstreet Gallery’s opening reception for Best Served Hot: Ceramics for the Coffee Ritual. We’ve collaborated with Intelligentsia Coffee (yum!) to showcase select ceramic works, both traditional and innovative, that celebrate the coffee ritual. After the show, we’ll kick off the next class session with our Fall Open House on Saturday, August 24th. Come explore the Art Center and try your hand at making something new through our free workshops for adults and kids of all ages. After the Fall Open House, stick around for our Lillstreet + Ravenswood 10-Year Anniversary Block Party at the Lillstreet Loft. This family friendly celebration will have something for everyone—from live entertainment and refreshments to interactive art projects and a photobooth. We’ve also got a special gift for early guests! Oooohhh… what could it be? Then on Sunday, August 25th, we’re pumped to partner with Renegade Craft Fair and Dabble to host the Makers Mini Conference, offering valuable information and insight into the crafts industry for Chicago’s artisan entrepreneurs.

CERAMICS

LILLSTREET’S LONG-ESTABLISHED clay department offers classes for all skill levels in wheelthrowing, handbuilding, and sculpture. Advanced students can fine-tune their work or experiment with soda firing. Take advantage of over 200 glaze combinations, firing, and state-of-the-art equipment in our generous open studio hours.

BEGINNER / ADVANCED BEGINNER FIRST-TIME POTTER ( 5 WEEKS ) Not ready for the 10-week commitment? Try your hand at a variety of clay techniques, and learn the basics of handbuilding and wheelthrowing. You will learn to center the clay on the wheel as you begin to throw the basic forms of mugs and bowls, learn to trim, and then glaze your pots. Handbuilding projects might include pinch pot bowls, bud vases or small serving trays. This is not a prerequisite for the 10-week Beginning Wheelthrowing or Handbuilding classes. Beginning students should plan to purchase a clay tool kit ($20). Includes 12 pounds of clay.

FIRST-TIME HANDBUILDER ( 5 WEEKS )

BEGINNING/ ADVANCED BEGINNING WHEELTHROWING ( 10 WEEKS )

Want to have some fun but not ready to commit to a 10-week class? Dress for mess and come to handbuild objects in clay. Learn timeless techniques, such as attaching coils and slabs, to make pots. You will also learn to use other larger tools, including molds, slab roller, and extruder. This is not a prerequisite for the 10-week Beginning Handbuilding classes. Beginning students should plan to purchase a clay tool kit at Lillstreet. Includes 12 pounds of clay.

Delve in and explore the mystery of the potter’s wheel. New beginning students will develop fundamental potthrowing techniques while returning students will refine their technique to create more complex forms. Be inspired by other students’ progress as well as be challenged by your goals. Teachers demo for multi-levels and assist all students. Beginning students should plan to purchase a clay tool kit at Lillstreet.

DREAMS, MYTHS, STORIES IN CLAY SCULPTURE

INTERMEDIATE WHEELTHROWING

( 10 WEEKS )

People are drawn to the timeless, quiet, direct contact of handbuilding in clay. Whether your aim is functional or sculptural ceramics, master the basics to learn ways to work with slabs, coils and pinching to create virtually anything you can dream up. Then, build more! Learn to use the larger tools of the Handbuilder: molds, slab roller, and extruder. Beginning students should plan to purchase a clay tool kit at Lillstreet.

Explore personal stories, dreams and myths in handbuilt clay forms. Ways to form, texture and finish work will be taught to enable your ideas to come to life, whether in works large or small, flat or tall. Every class member has the opportunity to share insights, inspirations or questions during a weekly period of sharing. In the final session, all students’ work is viewed and discussed in terms of the dreams, myths or stories they express. All students from beginners to advanced are welcome.

You have mastered the basics; now challenge yourself to throw a better pot. Articulate what a better pot means to you! Design your own pottery and develop a personal aesthetic, while learning techniques to make complex forms. Weekly demos and experimenting with new glaze combinations will help you to develop your signature look.

( 10 WEEKS ) This hand-building class will develop the skills will need to know to make any type of sculpture in clay. The progression of the class will build your knowledge from pinch pots to coil building to building with slabs to working from a solid form. You will understand how to build the forms you have in mind. It will open your process up to creative freedom. Clay sculptures have a wide range of possibilities. Each possibility comes with its own process and techniques. By developing a wide range of techniques, you will be able to work faster and cater the project to your skill set. Sean will break down multiple avenues in the clay process throughout the class, so we can build on our progression. You will own the “ins and outs” of sculpture in clay and be able to break into your own direction. It will help you find what process works for you. Thursday 7-10pm

ARTS & CRAFTS II ( 10 WEEKS ) Back by popular demand! This class will explore the Arts and Crafts period of the early 20th century, which encompassed a wide range of decorative techniques, motifs, and styles. DAY OF THE DEAD MEXICAN SKULLS ( 1 DAY ) A Calaveras or skull is commonly used for decoration during the Mexican Day of the Dead festival on November 1st. They are frequently shown with marigold flowers and foliage and are generally depicted as joyous rather than mournful to indicate a happy afterlife. The Mexican belief is that no dead soul likes to be thought of sadly, and that death should be a joyous occasion.

Experience the magic of wielding a hammer to coax metal into flowing lines and sensuous forms. This class is an introduction in learning to create new shapes for your work not easily achieved by other techniques. A variety of processes will be demonstrated. Forge wire or rod into linear earrings, rings, or flatware. Foldform metal to create organic textures and three-dimensional forms. Transform metal sheet into bracelets or even a teapot – the possibilities are endless!

This class takes enameling enthusiasts on a journey beyond the basics and explores innovative, non-traditional techniques such as deliberate under and over-firing, torch firing, fusing and embedding glass and metals, inscribing surface designs, working with fire scale and oxides, extreme textures, firing onto wire and mesh, and alternative surface finishes. Novice and experienced students alike will expand their skills and personal style while redefining enameling beyond it’s traditional boundaries.

Through discussion, demonstration, samples and images, students will learn to develop an understanding of 3-dimensional forms and how to combine that with the creativity from within you. Techniques including marriage of metals, folding, and cold connections along with repetition will be emphasized. “ANCIENT” PURE COPPER BRACELET ( 1 DAY ) We imagine copper as we see a penny: shiny and pink-ish. But antiqued copper has a rainbow of color opportunities, which we will explore in this workshop. Create a textured, slabbed bracelet using pure Copper Art Clay. When the “clay” is fired, it is done so with a modified firing schedule, allowing the copper to oxidize specifically to retain amazing color. The bracelet is then assembled with chain and a clasp that fit the style of the piece. All tools provided by the instructor. Materials will be available for purchase on the day of class. VISITING ARTIST WORKSHOPS SILVER GRANULATION: METHODS AND TECHNIQUES ( 2 DAYS ) Granulation is the process of fusing tiny metal spheres of silver or gold, in a decorative pattern, to a surface of the same metal. When making granulated jewelry, all connections are fused, not soldered. This weekend workshop will investigate and compare various ways of performing granulation. Simple torch firing methods as well as the use of kilns and fusion furnaces will be discussed. The emphasis will be on learning the “How’s” and “Why’s” of this ancient technique and it’s applications for the contemporary metalsmith. A flat sheet of metal shaped by compressing its edges and stretching the center so the surface develops two curves at right angles to each other. BEYOND THE BEZEL – CARVED AND PIERCED DECORATIVE SETTINGS ( 3 DAYS ) Bezels can be far more than just a ring of metal enclosing a stone. This three day intensive workshop elevates the bezel into a self-supporting design element. With dividers, saw, and files, a bezel can become a skillfully decorated setting. Learn to transform a common thick walled bezel into the elaborately carved and pierced centerpiece of a jewel. Create alternative setting designs by articulating bezels into prongs, tabs, channels, serrated and scalloped patterns. Demonstration and instruction is followed by each participant’s hands-on exploration and adaptation of process and technique. The course curriculum covers forming, shaping, and soldering heavy stock into bezels; precision layout and execution of patterns and repetitive design elements; and setting stones with pushers, burnishers, hammer and punch. This is an intermediate level class with emphasis on the refinement of hand skills with traditional tools. FACULTY FOCUS: PAM ROBINSON JEWELRY & METALS DEPARTMENT HEAD

The creative process Pam uses finds its grounding in the large network of experience and passion that she so willingly shares. On making wedding rings, generally a three-month process, she says, “My favorite clients are the ones who come to me because they like the style of my work. It’s really fun when you get to work with somebody, get to know what they like. I have them look through catalogues, and most exciting is when they go ‘Oh my god! That’s exactly what I was thinking! How did you see inside my head?’ Well, that’s my job! That’s really rewarding.” The process is the same with students. For Pam, teaching is not only about the skills to be learned but also about creativity. “When a student comes in and says ‘I’m not creative. I have no idea how to do this.’ Well, everyone is creative; everyone has creativity in them. It’s the educator’s job to pull that out. We can teach them technique; we can physically show them. It’s hard to teach people how to be creative, but you can teach them how to see things creatively.” In a metals studio, Pam Robinson looks at home. Here there are no computers or emails, things the director of the Metalsmithing & Jewelry Department at Lillstreet could do without. That’s how we began our conversation actually: I asked what she thought was beautiful. “Being away from a computer is a beautiful thing. A big shiny piece of metal is beautiful, big shiny sparkly stones, great colors, that’s beautiful,” she offers, pausing, smiling. Pam is a good example of a holistic person—her personality, her thoughts on being a teacher, her generosity and sense of fascination, her jewelry—they all begin to make sense together sitting across the table from her, listening to her explain her work. Twenty-one years at Lillstreet, 18 in her studio, and just finishing up 10 years as an instructor at Loyola University Chicago. This just begins to demonstrate the breadth and depth of Pam’s talent and experience. A degree in art, a study in gemology, a fascination with history, and a love of Calder and O’Keeffe all are pieces of the mosaic. It takes that kind of breadth to make up a person who can create over 100 individually designed wedding rings. Think of the responsibility crafting a wedding ring requires!

It is clear Pam brings the same philosophy of creativity to her own work, using the work of Alexander Calder especially as an inspiration. “With Calder, it’s about what the metal can do—the majority of his pieces are experiments. He sat in his studio, pulled out some wire and started hammering on that, and I really admire and enjoy that. For me, I do the same thing because it’s exciting to see what the metal can do! You have a big hammer, pound, go at it, and see what direction the metal will go. That’s what he did, it’s simple, yet elegant.” Pam’s work as an educator and her big personality are clearly a part of the energy behind the growth of the Metalsmithing & Jewelry Department at Lillstreet, but she is also clearly making people think differently on a personal basis. Even in just our time together, I had learned not only facts (Calder started out as a toy maker) but also why they matter (kids who make toys at Lillstreet Kids Camps work in the same way Calder did—just going at it, not overthinking, working with joy). This beginning to intermediate level drawing class teaches the fundamentals of drawing portraits and figures while working from a nude model. Weekly demonstrations and structured exercises will emphasize observation, proportion, measuring, and anatomy. Students begin with charcoal, move to conté, and eventually learn to use pastels. In this multi-level class, we will collect various materials then layer them together to explore how the characteristics of the various collage materials create beautiful and thoughtful artwork. Each week we will focus on a new technique, material and idea as the organizing elements for our experimental projects. Students should bring items and images from home to make these projects personally engaging.

This class is for students with some drawing or painting experience. Watercolor is a versatile painting medium that allows the artist a range of expression from tight, representational work to loose, fluid sketches and more improvisational abstracts. The class will provide a comprehensive introduction to watercolor, and watercolor techniques such as blending, glazing and representation as well as fun, special effects with the medium. In this class, students will explore the endless possibilities of landscape painting. A variety of brushwork and color schemes will be taught from Art Historical examples such as Claude Monet, Camille Corot, and Gustave Courbet. The primary focus in this class will be on learning to create the illusion of deep space using value color, and various perspective techniques. Either acrylic or oil paints may be used. Bring a medium sized canvas and paints to the first class.

Learn how to paint with wax in this multi-level class. Use pigments, damar crystals, various types of waxes as well as other ingredients to create multi-layered, heavily textured to paint on a variety of surfaces. Work with metals tools and special brushes as well as torches, heat guns and irons. Encapsulate additional materials and collage the surface. Artists of all media will enjoy the limitless possibilities of working in encaustics. A supply list will be provided one week before class begins. *Due to the nature this medium, open studio is not available for students working with encaustic paints.

Stretch the boundaries of your painting practice by working on a large scale. Going big will challenge your creativity and your body as you learn the tools and techniques needed for creating paintings on a 4 x 5 foot canvas or larger. Whether you make landscapes, figurative, or abstract paintings, this class will provide students with how to physically make large work, and what materials are necessary for converting big ideas into larger than life reality. The course is designed for students with oil or acrylic painting experience.

This multi level class teaches the basics of oil painting as well as helping those with more experience develop their skills. It will provide the student with the necessary information and experience in the area of color mixing and painting techniques that will enhance skill and provide a foundation for successful painting in oils. PAINTING THE FIGURE ALLA PRIMA ( 10 WEEKS ) A direct approach to painting requires the student to see the world in terms of painterly concepts. The bravura strokes of a Velazquez or Sargent require an intimate knowledge of how light travels across a form, values, color relations and the quality of edges. This class will focus on building an understanding of these visual concepts to enable the student to paint in a direct manner in full color from the start. The class will paint some two week and tree week poses involving some nude and clothed poses. There will be a few value studies done with conte crayon on paper. DRAWING AND PAINTING THE NUDE FIGURE ( 5 OR 10 WEEKS ) This advanced class is for those who have had previous experience working from the nude model. Students are expected to have some competency in drawing or have completed Introduction to Portrait or Figure. In the 10 week course, poses are scheduled for two weeks so that a painting or drawing can be fully developed. The 5 week course will consist of 1, two-week and 1, three-week pose giving the students plenty of time to fully develop their work. Stencil methods are introduced as well as mark-making processes, background blends, gum Arabic transfers and other fascinating monotype techniques. Students have the opportunity to translate drawings, paintings and photographs into the print form using Plexiglas plates as a printing surface. Explore contemporary printmaking techniques with a concentration on the Xerox Transfer Process. Students will learn how to combine the transfer process with stencils, chine collé, and monoprinting. Experimentation and individual expression are encouraged. All levels of students are welcome.

Utilizing previously developed basic bookbinding skills, students will delve further into three slightly more complex and beautiful structures that involve binding without the use of adhesives other than adding decorative cover elements of their choice. History and traditional techniques will be discussed, and innovative modification can be explored from there. Structures will include Japanese side-stitch, Coptic, and elegant techniques for stitching through the spine for decorative effect.

OUR PRINT ON FABRIC CLASSES feature a remodeled dark room with a state-of-the-art UV vacuum exposure unit. Students also now have access to a computer station with a laser printer for prepping images! Students can achieve professional results in our bullet steamer when setting dyes, and the new dye station set up makes immersion dyeing more user friendly. ( 5 WEEKS ) Nuno felting is back just in time for the cooler weather. Learn how to create lace-like, textural Nuno from silk and wool roving. Felting the wool onto silk creates a lovely and unique puckering texture. Youâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ll begin by making samples and end up creating a unique scarf or Nuno fabric of your own. DIY UPHOLSTERY ( 5 WEEKS ) Customize your space with a unique piece of furniture! Using fabrics and decorative decisions students will assemble and upholster their very own stool. With the use of a simple form students will grasp the ideas of armature and upholstery within functional furniture. Topics such as basic sewing skills, pattern making, and a brief introduction to fabric printing will be covered while looking at examples of other upholstery techniques.. Bonus! Learn how to use a piping foot and try your hand at the new industrial machine. Materials fee includes wooden pieces for stool. CONTEMPORARY CROSSSTITCH: POP CULTURE, REPETITION AND EMBROIDERY ( 5 WEEKS ) Work and socialize with our newest instructor, Stacia, as she shares her ideas on entertainment, meditation and relaxation- all themes relevant to working in cross-stitch embroidery. Using pattern making software (MacStitch), students will transform an image into a printed pattern and begin stitching a photo-realistic cross-stitch embroidery. We will cover all you need to know about the basics-from materials, techniques and history to the the creation of a counted cross-stitch from a digital image of your choosing. Beyond the formal instruction group stitch time will be accompanied by a series of podcasts, movies, TV episodes, stories and music related to the theme of repetition. NEW! MX DYES: A TEA TOWEL EXCHANGE ( 5 WEEKS ) Inspired by contemporary textile design, students will work through printing one or two color repeat patterns onto tea towels with fiber reactive dyes. In comparison to inks, which sit on the surface of your cloth and can sometimes leave a stiff hand, dyes go into the fabric therefore leaving your fabric feeling soft and maintaining maximum absorbency. In this crash course in sewing, learn how to put in elastic and finish your skirt with fancy french seams and a custom hem length. You’ll learn the basics of taking body measurements and get a taste of what our Textile Department class are like. No sewing experience necessary! Students should bring in 2.5 yards of fabric, and matching spool of thread if desired, as well as 1/4 yard of a fun print for the exterior pockets!. TEXTILES

Print full-color photo-realistic images onto fabric and paper! In this class we will easily screenprint halftone photographs with the four color process printing- also known as CMYK printing. Bring your own color photograph to the first class (printed or on a flash drive), and we will spend the first two weeks in the digital studio creating halftone separations in Photoshop. In the Textile studio we will burn screens and master registration to produce outstanding photorealistic prints. Students must provide second screen or rent from studio, and all process inks and tape included with materials fee during class and open studio. You’ve made that first skirt and can put in a zipper, but now it’s time to perfect those techniques while picking up some new skills for creating professional finished garments. Work can be seen from the CTA Montrose Brown Line elevated tracks and Metra Train tracks, as well as driving or walking down Montrose and Ravenswood Avenues. Installations rotate monthly, May through December, and flags are displayed in the Textile Department’s hallway gallery prior to install date. Since 2011, the installation space also serves as competition for artists, with Lillstreet awarding cash prizes for Best in Show and Honorable Mention installations. The landscape is a subject that has evolved over the history of photography – from the early explorations of the American West, to the classic images of Ansel Adams, to the New Topographic photographers, to the invented and conceptual environments of the contemporary avant garde. In this course you’ll learn about the styles of different eras and the prominent photographers of their time. Then you’ll make photographs with the styles and techniques those artists used. DSLR camera preferred.

This class will teach techniques for photographing buildings and other architectural exteriors. We’ll visit and photograph commercial, educational, and religious spaces. We’ll learn about vantage points, time of day, lenses and cameras, composition, and how to balance interior and exterior lighting. Students should have a DSLR camera with a lens capable of wide angle, and a tripod.

Learn how to make stunning, luminous photographs when it’s dark out. You will be amazed at how the night can come alive through your camera with the proper techniques. This class will show you how to shoot in different nighttime environments, natural and urban. You will also learn how to make spectacular photographs of the night sky, filled with stars. You’ll get to use special astrophotography equipment, but also produce results with your own camera. Basic photography skills and DSLR cameras preferred.

The roaming photographer catches life in flux in the urban environment. Those moments where the transient elements of a chaotic world fall into just the right place can only be captured by a photographer who has both technical skill and a keen observant eye. This course will get you our into the streets of Chicago, on the hunt for those elusive moments that make for amazing photographs. Camera technique, shooting strategies, and history of the genre will all be covered. Full knowledge of your camera functions required.

Learn about your camera and take better pictures as we learn about digital photography. We’ll start with the essential camera controls like ISO, aperture, shutter speed, shooting modes, and focus. Then we’ll put these lessons into practice with some in-class exercises. We’ll discuss composition and how to shoot thematically. To round out the class, there will be a demonstration of editing images using Lightroom software and the basics of printing. Students should bring a digital camera (DSLR preferred) with a fully charged battery and memory card with plenty of space.

This class will teach students the essentials of working with Photoshop. We’ll start by learning the workspace and all the tools, including brushes, paint, and flow. Next we’ll edit imagery on screen with adjustments such as levels, curves, hue/saturation, and how to selectively apply those adjustments. We’ll composite different image elements together. And we’ll conclude with a lesson on printing. Students should bring a flash drive with 5-10 images to edit. Basic computer skills required.

Illustrator is an indispensable software for graphics artists to create designs. In this course you’ll learn about vector-based graphics, how to create and edit paths, work with type, how to use live trace, how to paint and fill objects, and much more. Basic computer skills required.

FOLK ART & PAPER CRAFT: PAJAKI CHANDELIERS A pajaki is a beautiful and charming Old-World folk art that has been reinterpreted and transformed into a contemporary piece of décor. There is a Polish expression: blessed is the home with a spider web in it. Traditionally pajaki (pronounced Pie-Yonky), which translates to spider of straw, is a hanging decoration for health, happiness and luck. It’s lavishly decorated with paper flowers, felt and other found objects. At this retreat, participants will create their own pajaki chandelier. While traditional Pajakis are full of color, there are others done in neutrals and even pastels and you will be given the tools and guidance to focus on constructing and decorating your pajaki to match your own vision. So whether its full of bright colors or more subdued lets bring some old-world well wishes and good luck into our homes this season! STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: TARO TAKIZAWA

A complex glazing technique, but a good demonstration of where a few classes at Lillstreet can get you. Taro has been taking pottery classes at Lillstreet for about a year. “I took a semester in college at the very end, after I took all my major classes and I figured I wanted to do something fun. Then I moved to Chicago last summer, and I found out about Lillstreet because my other pottery friends were like, ‘You should go there!’” Taro focuses heavily on printmaking as well. “I actually work on printmaking primarily. Multiple color relief prints. That’s why I incorporate a lot of carvings and drawings into ceramics. After I got comfortable throwing, I just wanted to add more to it.” “Pottery is just like—I wanted to do something 3D.” And his 3D work is incredible! “Since I’m from Japan, we’re surrounded by the ocean, so it’s a really huge part of our daily life,” he continues. “Usually those [swirl carvings on his cups] are a representation of the oceans, water, waves. They could be either waves or mountains. Whales, I don’t know, I think they’re really divine creatures… I’ve used whales in my prints as well, so it just came naturally, like, what do I want to draw?” Taro Takizawa, Equilibrium

Lillstreet is bursting with art. Everywhere, all the time, there are pots being fired, prints hung to dry, jewelry hammered out. On the shelves in the ceramics studios, you might spot a piece by Taro Takizawa—perhaps one of his beautiful, blue-glazed porcelain mugs with some clever carvings of triangular forms on the side. A simple, profound use of blue and white against each other.

Taro has a lot to say about the community at Lillstreet, too, not just the work to be done there. “The artist community here is a bunch of people that are friendly, weird, goofy,” he laughs, then continues, “willing to help.” “Going to Lillstreet is nice,” he says, “because it’s a fun community with a lot of artists with different backgrounds. Even if you’re not that great, like, some glaze combinations will come out randomly and people will see it and be like, ‘How did you do that?’ That’s how you start building up relationships.” Looking forward, Taro will keep working on his printmaking and hopes to take more ceramics classes at Lillstreet. We expect more great things from him.

Of his technique, Taro explains, “Once I put the handles on, they’re all trimmed and carved but still leather hard, I apply wax to the surface. I’ll carve with a needle tool. You can use underglaze and even some slip to fill in the carvings and wipe away the glaze with a sponge, and that is where the wax will resist, or the glaze won’t stick to the surface… I just started using porcelain. It’s kind of heavy. Basically, I concentrate on handles that are comfortable to hold, rims that feel good on you when you’re drinking, the bottom nice and smooth.”

HOLIDAYS AND MISSED CLASSES For classes that fall on holidays, it is up to individual teachers and students to decide whether to hold the class or to schedule a make up class later in the session. Missed classes may only be made up within the same class session.

PRIVATE CLASSES Would you prefer individualized instruction over a classroom situation? Is there a specific technique you’ve always wanted to learn, but don’t have the time to commit to a 10 week class? If this is what you’ve been looking for we have some options for you to choose from.

• A two-hour minimum commitment is required. • Your customized lesson can be for one person, two or three. • No previous experience necessary. • Private classes can be set up in any of our departments. • Your lesson includes open studio time on the day of your lesson only; it does not include open studio for the week.

Pricing structure:

Classes are canceled when enrollment minimums are not reached. Students will be notified if classes are canceled and will be eligible for a full refund or class credit. Tuition credits are good indefinitely toward any classes, workshops or gallery items and are not redeemable for cash under any circumstances.

REFUND POLICY FOR DROPPED CLASSES AND WORKSHOPS Tuition is refundable for all classes and workshops dropped more than one week prior to the session start date, minus a $40 processing fee. Classes dropped during the week prior to the start of the class session are eligible for a studio credit only (no refunds). Classes dropped during the first week of the session are eligible for a 50% studio credit (no refund). Classes dropped after the first week of the session are not eligible for a credit or refund except in cases of documented medical emergency with physician’s note. Students are responsible for notifying the Lillstreet staff that they wish to drop a class or workshop. Not attending class does not constitute an official withdrawal or cancellation of tuition or fees. Creative Retreats and Visiting Artist Workshops have separate cancellation policies.
