Painting & Drawing
Wonder how musicians invent melodies off the top of their heads or how some artists draw incredible worlds from their imaginations? Explore the meditative aspect of drawing through various exercises such as mirror image drawing, drawing from an inverted photograph and pointillist drawing. Meditative drawing is all about becoming one with the subject matter. Improvisational drawing is about getting outside your comfort zone and into the place where “fortunate mishaps” occur. Each method provides relief from the other. Drawing as meditation will lead you to see more deeply and profoundly, while improvisation will open the door to your imagination. Together these devices will produce vast improvements in your artistic skills and help you find your own creative voice. Please bring a 0.5 mm mechanical pencil, smudging stump, soft white eraser in pencil style holder and a 9” x 12” 70lb drawing tablet to the first class.

I GN I T E CREATIVE RETREATS TO EMPOWER YOUR TEAM
Client Story: Wrigley Company M A N Y O F T H E P R O F E S S I O N A L G R O U P S W H O C O N TAC T L I L L S T R E E T I G N I T E are looking for an opportunity to promote bonding within their team. When we heard that Wrigley was looking for a team-building activity for the Global Marketing team, who spends most of their time traveling, we knew Lillstreet Ignite could provide fantastic memories for co-workers who rarely get to see each other as a group. For this well-traveled team, the Share-A-Plate ceramics activity was the perfect fit. In this activity, each person creates a ceramic plate, full of personal meaning. Throughout the activity, Lillstreet faculty and Chicago ceramicist Shira Leon guided the group’s discussion of favorite foods, memories, and inspirations. Because the Wrigley team spent so much time on the go, you can imagine how many stories they had about food in their travels! This activity created an environment where the team could really get to know each other better, while learning a little more about form and function in ceramics. Getting the group together in one room was a special occasion on its own, but Lillstreet Ignite strives to make every experience extraordinary. Aside from a shared meal at the end of the activity, the Lillstreet Loft was well stocked with drinks, snacks, and goodies to keep the team energized. According to Marilyn D., the Share-A-Plate activity was a “great experience, I can’t wait to come back to Lillstreet.” By: Adrienne Teeley
