LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR

The older I get, the more I appreciate each season as it rolls around. I am writing from Northern Michigan, where the squirrels, chipmunks and birds are putting on a comical show vying for sunflower seeds against a backdrop of colorful leaves. It is glorious. Fall is my favorite season. Except I really love winter. And spring. And summer.

We are living through some difficult times. And by we, I mean all of us, not just one group or another. We don’t know what the future holds, even more right now than most years. But the seasons help us keep putting one foot in front of the other, and we all need to make time to notice and appreciate all of the good things.

You’ll notice that this issue of the newsletter is big, crammed full of a variety of programs and activities for the next three months. It’s a super-issue so we could change the delivery schedule for the next year, but it’s also a super-issue because there is always something new to learn and do at the library. And every season is the best one for reading.

As we move through the many holidays that take place over the next few months, I want to say how thankful I am for the opportunity to work for the Lincolnwood community, in all of its diversity and richness. As fall moves into winter, I wish you all the opportunity to pause and notice whatever delights you.
