The year 2023 was an exciting year for our family. Kyler turned 16 and is now able to drive himself to the majority of his events!!! Easton and Austin both keep themselves busy playing a variety of sports. Baseball, Hockey, Volleyball and Basketball to name a couple. Kaidynce found a real passion for Volleyball this fall, which her dad is really excited about, however, it didn’t seem to slow her passion for horses!!! Although we find ourselves extremely busy we feel fortunate to be able to do what we do. Like always we find ourselves needing to stop to say Thank You! Whether it is bidding, buying, offering a helping hand, giving knowledgeable advice, taking the time for a tour and visit or allowing us to farm your land. Without your support we wouldn’t be able to continue doing what we love. Around the farm the excitement continued. Probably the most exciting or high anticipated event was the arrival of the first Rumble and Chester calves. This excitement continued through the summer and fall as we have watched these outstanding sire groups develop in very solid and complete individuals. With that being said, our main goal is to bring you an animal that is of the highest quality and are proud of the animals we offer to the industry. Each year we go out and find new genetics that we feel will not only improve our herd but inevitably increase the quality we can offer to our clientele. Aside from Rumble and Chester, you will find other strong bulls that stem from our proven herd bulls. Elevation, Red Wolf, Crocket, Hercules, O’Keefe and Viper to name a few. We also AI our cows to leading sires such as Sugar Ray, Connected, Loyalty, Next Century and use some of the tried and true bulls like Rogar and High Roller. With several genetic variations we hope we can meet the your needs. All the yearling bulls have been fed together since the very end of August. The bulls are eating a TMR diet that consists of corn and cereal silage, chopped hay and a starch free pellet. All the ingredients are tested and balanced to allow the animal to show their natural growing abilities and achieve a strong ADG without harming their long-term development. We do not push the feed to our animals and pride ourselves on the fact that many customers express how their bulls actually gain weight or maintain their condition throughout breeding season. For those of you who are new to our program, we are a family run purebred Simmental and new in 2023, Charolais operation. We will be calving out just over 400 purebred females, some of which are part of our embryo program. We are fortunate to still be farming with my parents, Barney and Melody and are excited to be in partnership with them on our new Charolais endeavor. Over the years Mom and Dad have been our major support system giving us years of knowledge and many hours of help. Along side the purebred cows Mom and Dad also run a large commercial herd. Although Mom and Dad own these cows, we feel fortunate to have them around as they help keep us focused on the overall end product that everyone is trying to achieve. As always, we are excited to have Beechinor Land and Livestock, Stefon and Rebecca Beechinor and Skyline Simmentals, Amanda Steffler joining us this year. It fits and I couldn’t resist using the famous boxing announcer, Michael Buffer’s legendary catch-phrase as the title to this editorial. Now it’s time, the first sons of the Canadian record selling bull, BLL Rumble, will sell! Several sons will be available in the Fullblood division to choose from. Interestingly enough, as “wing-men” to the “Rumble” sons are very intentionally created progeny by “Sugar Ray” out of “Magnum” daughters, thus being 3/4 brothers to “Rumble” himself! Be ready to make a long list of FB bulls that are closely related to give multiple buying options. Of course established sires, like “Elevation” and more continue to add to this sector making them one of largest and best available anywhere in the nation. Well interestingly enough, and a wise, methodical, purposeful breeding decision was made to mate some Black & Red Purebred cows to “Rumble” and it panned out to near perfection! “Baldy” sons of the record-breaker are included and will meet with attention by both commercial and registered cattlemen. But also in this group, are sons of BEE Alpha, the $120,000 calving ease dynamo! Powerful sons of “O’Keefe” and “Connected” are easy to find too within this Black & Red sector. Stefon and Rebecca’s, Beechinor Land & Livestock, have built the reputation of producing Simmental cattle that are not only aesthetically pleasing but pack some of the most proven lineage in the business. The “BLL” cattle possess pedigrees that read as good as anyone’s, top and bottom side. Their yearling bulls perform at the front end of the pen consistently and will once again also offer a few of the popular extra-age bulls. Amanda Steffler’s Skyline program continues to improve year in and year out! Top cows in the herd, like “Chanzie” are being identified and leading into notable cow families. A nice son of “Top Tier” is a “top” calving ease prospect with adequate performance that will be found in this group. Noticing that many of you as valued bull customers also use Charolais bulls, John and Barney decided to incorporate the great white breed into the fold in an effort to provide buyer convenience and maybe save you a few miles for your bull shopping and wrap it up more efficiently. These “young guns” are born from a slightly later calving interval than the Simmentals, but regardless you’ll appreciate how hairy, good footed and quiet they are! We have worked with these great people for the entirety of their tenure in the registered cattle business, which we are very grateful for of course, so are very familiar to the programs and the integrity they possess. DELIVERY All bulls that are remaining to be housed after the sale must be insured. Bulls will be housed free of charge until April 15, 2024. Animals will be delivered free of charge to points across Alberta, BC, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan. This will be done at the buyer’s convenience, however, if the truck is in your area you may be asked to take your bull early. We will do our utmost to deliver your bull to your yard.

EPDs do not compare across cattle breeds. They are individual based per breed. EPDs indicate a probably variance above or below breed average for that trait for a given bull’s progeny. The accuracy of EPDs for calendar year bull calves is generally about 20% (one out of five times) so use it cautiously as one of several selection tools. I once had a wise man tell me that when you find the right bull with everything you are looking for there will be no limit on how much you can spend….. boy was he right…. Rumble is a bull that we knew had to find his way into our program the second we saw him. Of course, with a $355,000 price tag it added a bit of stress. Once these first calves started hitting the ground, we knew it was the right decision. As the summer progressed his offspring pulled to the top of both the bull and replacement heifer pens. At weaning time many of his sons broke the 900lbs mark. Its early to say but we believe that Rumble could very well have the biggest influence on our herd from this point forward. His sons are impressive to say the least and his daughters have that brood cow look as yearlings. In this first calf crop we crossed him with several different ‘types’ of cows and he surprised us by how consistent he was able to make them. These consistent traits include deep swing ribs, hair, meat, red colouring, pigmentation and performance. All while making a good majority of them polled off of horned cows!

Where do we start on Elevation. Let’s start from the beginning. From the day I laid eyes on him I know he had the potential to be a great fit for our program. What I didn’t know is that he would stamp our program with top end females that one would say are cookie cutter. Great uddered, good milking, perfect coloured and nice temperament are some of the first words that come to mind. His sons continue to impress us year after year with big square hips, heavy dark red hair coats and big ribs. These sons tend to always be the top of their respective pens. Elevation is a bull that has definitely earned his place as a true great!! You will also see as you are going through the catalog a number of bulls who are mothered by Elevation daughters.

Its been a long time since I featured a cow in our Bull Sale……. after writing comments for almost an hour on 6 different bulls that were either a son or a grand son of one particular cow……. I decided it was time to feature her!! Last year there were four and this year there are 6. Our donor cow Nydam 54X has left and is continuing to leave a huge impact on our herd. She just had a natural calf that marks the 15th different bull to be used on this cow. The remarkable part is that it doesn’t matter what bull you use on her she leaves you a top end replacement animal. The bulls grow exceptionally well and her daughters all have tremendous udders with loads of rich milk. It will be a hard day when she is gone but the good news is we know she flushes well!!

O’Keefe is a bull we were very excited about back in our 2021 Bull Sale. He was going to be our feature Black bull and had several, highly reputable breeders interested in him. At the time we were very disappointed as we were unable to get him to score above a 60% on his semen test. In the vets opinion it was due to cold shock as he had several bent tails. Two days prior to the sale we made the decision to pull him from the sale as we were afraid we weren’t going to be able to get a passing test in the future. About five weeks the decision differed bulls we being retested and we thought we would see if he improved. Improved he did scoring an 88%. At this point the breeders that were interested in him had found their bulls and of course were already well into breeding. We decided that he could run clean up for us and when his calves started arriving in early February it was obvious we needed to use him heavier and even went and collected semen on him. This baldie faced bull has a deep sweeping rib, large square hip, big strong feet and loads of hair. As you will notice he does an outstanding job of transmitting this into his offspring. A little different pedigree that is full of maternal power.

Welcome to our section of the 2024 edition of the bull sale. I probably don’t need to remind you the past year brought some trying times for the cattle industry with widespread drought conditions across the prairies. Farmers and ranchers are a resilient bunch with the ability to adapt and look forward to the promise of the next year. At Beechinor Land & Livestock we continue to try to move forward by sourcing some of what we feel are the best herd bulls and ai sires. We also continue an extensive embryo transplant division with donors that are proven and functional. Homo Polled Test Pending This guy is really cool. With some fullblood in the backround you just know he is going to sire calves that come out easy and grow like crazy. My herd consists of a lot of fullblood influence females so I know first hand this means milk and growth! This bull is built well with a smooth shoulder, extended front end, wide top and muscled rear third to tie it all together. Lorenzo’s granddam is a polled viper daughter who was one of the first registered females I’ve ever purchased. This bloodline runs deep in the herd, so I know Lorenzo will go out and make his new owners very happy. Some growth with a shot of calving ease, and a white face to boot. What more could you want!

Polled, Hetero Black This bull couldn’t be longer if he tried. He packs so much muscle onto his frame it’s incredible. He reminds me a lot of Beast, his sire. Long spined, wide top, big butted and fancy as they come. This bull will throw calves that will come out long and smooth and just grow from day one. If you look closely you’ll see his dam, Gracie, is a granddaughter to the great Chanzie cow. Which explains why he has the growth he does! Gracie has a great set of feet under her with an even better udder. She’s dark red and long spined with tons of middle. Lithium is a bull I’m confident will go out and impress wherever he ends up.

Homo Polled Test Pending Lefty has calving ease written all over him. With his long spine, smooth tucked in shoulder and perfect precise head he checks all the boxes of heifer bull. If you like your calves to come out small and just grow and grow you need to look at Lefty. He is a later born bull but you would never know it, based on his growth. His dam is a great cow, with a fantastic udder and a great set of tidy feet. She has really outdone herself on her first calf. Lefty is a bull that will go out and get the heifers bred, and calve out nice to top it off. His sire is Edge, who we just parted with at the age of 8, has put some great bulls through the ring at the bull sale. This is the first black son to sell, and he means business. Edge stamps his calves with that clean smooth face and front end as well as a long spine with great muscling to round things off. Beechinor Bros. Well, if you haven’t already heard…. We expanded the herd!!! Welcome to Beechinor Bros Charolais!! When I was a little boy, Dad always would have the odd Charolais bull around that he crossed with his Simmental cows. Apart from the obvious colour difference the intriguing part was how big those steers would be come sale day. After fielding several inquires last spring about where guys might go looking for a good Charolais bull and seeing how many of our customers were incorporating Charolais into their herds. We decided that we should try to make things a little easier for people and offer a one stop shopping experience. These bulls will be raised with the same key fundamentals as our Simmental herd: cow families that are built on good feet, strong udders, calm temperament, easy doing, with the ability to naturally bring in pounds home come fall. The hard part was going to be trying to find them in a short period of time……. We knew that finding a group or at that time potentially several smaller groups, was going to be a hard task on its own. It wasn’t long and we were able to get into contact with the wonderful people at Thurston Charolais, Gordon, Leone and Collette Thurston as well as Blair Ford, about the potential of selecting a few females from their herd at Irma. After a great tour of the herd and a wonderful visit we were able to agree upon a pick of 25 Bred cows and a select group of heifer calves. We were and still are thrilled to be able to have added this big bodied, highly functional females as part of our foundation. Our original plan was to find 50 cows and with the 25 coming from the Thurston’s we needed another 25…… With the help of a good friend it wasn’t long…….. 7 days…… and we made contact with the kind and down to earth people of Bricney Stock Farms, Wendall and Leanne Weston. Again, after touring the herd, seeing the outstanding set of females Wendall and Leanne had created, Wendall took us to their yearling pen of bulls! WOW, that set of bulls was absolutely stunning. Between that pen of yearling bulls, the tremendous cows and listening to Wendall talk about the strength of cow families within the herd, we knew this would be the perfect fit. With Wendall being a top notch salesmen…….. we walked away from the Weston kitchen table late that evening with a total package of 50 Bred females and 25 replacement heifers……… What happened to a total of 50……. One thing is for sure, sometimes in life opportunities arise that are unexpected. We didn’t plan on buying over 100 females to start the foundation of our Charolais herd but the opportunity presented itself and we couldn’t be happier. Not only do we feel we have a fantastic start with an absolutely terrific group of females but we were able to buy them from outstanding people and families. Hickory is a bull that we have been lucky enough to acquire part ownership of with Wendall and Leanne! When we were going through the cows on our original tour, Wendall showed us the Herd bulls and it was hard not to admire Hickory for his overall size, extremely quite disposition and solid feet. At the time it felt strange buying a mature bull but after watching his sons and daughters develop we are extremely happy we did! As I went through his sons I felt like a broken record as I was recording my comments. Long spined, good framed, heavy haired, good topped, calm, nice middled, small skulled and deep muscling came out of my mouth over and over again.

Marsh Farms Ltd originated in Fort Macleod AB. Owner, Gord Marsh and family have been in the cow calf business for 40+ years. He started the Saskatchewan division in the early 2000’s, Marsh Ranches is located NE of Southey up in the Touchwood Hills. His kids, Lesley and Dave along with their families run side by side growing their own operations with the help of Dad. Dave, Tamara, Ty and Kayden own Marsh 99 ranch running around 800 black Angus cows on the North side of the ranch. Lesley, and her two daughters Sage and Ashtin run around 700 red and black Angus and Angus/Simmental cross cows on the south end. The cows have been bred to Beechinor red and black simmental bulls for a number of years and the quality of the retained heifers is very prominent in the cow herd.

After purchasing her SK land in 2001, Lesley and her girls started their own operation in 2017. On bare ground a well was dug in May, followed by the home, shop, barn and corrals. The girls started school in Sept. in their new home, cows followed soon after in Nov. They calved out 118 home raised heifers and 360 cows that first spring “It takes a village” is never more true when raising kids and cows but there is no better lifestyle! Between 4H, basketball, dance, soccer, and of course riding horses in many disciplines, I couldn’t of done it without the amazing support of family and friends. Lesley is VBP+ certified, the heifers are on a full herd health program bovi one shot, ultrabac 7 with somubac and ivomec. Sale heifers will be palpated prior to sale day.

Terms & Conditions

TERMS - The terms of the sale are cash, cheque, e-transfer, or wire and are due at the time of sale, unless other arrangements have been made between buyer and seller prior to the sale. Transcon reserves the right to charge interest at a rate of 2% per month on overdue accounts. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should any purchaser fail to settle for their purchase Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves full power to resell the animal to the best advantage either publicly or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. Transcon Livestock Corp and/or the Auctioneer shall have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment or who has not made proper credit clearance prior to the sale with the owner or Sale Managers. BID - No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted. SALES TAXES – Applicable sales taxes will be charged on semen, embryos, and trucking fees (if listed), respective to the home province of the buyer, not the seller. DISPUTES - In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final. PURCHASER’S RISK - Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. INSURANCE – Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser at the time of sale and should be insured. Animals returning to the seller’s farm must be insured. US BUYERS – There is an additional charge (approximately $300.00 US dollars) that will be applied to each animal purchased. This covers documentation, vet inspections/testing required to export. This cost does not include transportation or brokerage which is the responsibility of the buyer. CATTLE PICTURES AND INFORMATION PROVIDED - The images in this catalogue are believed to be accurate representations of the individual animals and the information contained in this catalogue is provided by the seller and believed to be true and accurate. Transcon Livestock Corp. and catalogue designers/ producers assume no responsibility if the images and/or information as received have been altered or is inaccurate. ANNOUNCEMENTS – All announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY - A registration/recordation certificate issued by the applicable breed association and duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer of each animal after settlement has been made. It is the responsibility of the buyer to determine the acceptance of this certificate in any other association. SHIPPING - Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale but no risk is assumed by the Sales Management or Seller. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Purchasers are requested to furnish shipping instructions when making settlement. BREEDERS GUARANTEE - As per applicable Canadian Breed Association Breeding Guarantee guidelines. Copies are available at the sale settlement desk to be picked up by the buyer at any time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for reimbursing more than the purchase price. EXCEPTION TO GUARANTEE - In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void. HEALTH - It is the buyer’s responsibility to determine health requirements for importing any animal into his province or state. Transcon Livestock Corp. assumes no responsibility for the health status of any animal in the sale. EMBRYO & SEMEN – Full settlement must be made before release is done and shipping arrangements should be done within 30 days of the sale unless arrangements made between buyer and seller prior to the sale. Shipping arrangements and costs are the expense of the purchaser once release has been given. ACCIDENTS - Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sales Management, auctioneer, consignors, or Association assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property. RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS - The above terms and conditions of the sale shall constitute a contract between the buyer and the seller and be equally binding to both. Resale of animals following purchase in this sale shall constitute a separate transaction and the rights and obligations of the two parties connected thereto are not covered by the terms and conditions of this sale. IS AGENT ONLY - It is to be clearly understood that Transcon Livestock Corp. is only acting as a medium between buyer and seller and is not in any way responsible for any failure on the part of either party to live up to his obligations.
