Welcome to the highly anticipated second annual Transcons Northern Connection Bull Sale! Join us for a pre-sale meal in the beautiful Ag Corral in St Paul, AB on Wednesday, April 3rd. As we reflect on the success of last year’s inaugural sale, we are thrilled to invite you to take part in this exciting event once again.

This April event gives you the chance to acquire a bull that has undergone recent semen testing and is all set to start working for you. I’d strongly suggest getting your herdsires checked beforehand – it’s been one wild winter with temperatures all over the map, and I suspect some herdsires might face a bit of a challenge passing the test.

This year’s sale boasts an increased number of bulls, featuring a variety of herdbull prospects to cater to different preferences. Whether you are seeking power Fleck bulls, black blaze-faced heifer bulls, or robust Charolais bulls, you are sure to find the perfect match at the Northern Connection Sale.

Created with the goal of providing a place for emerging breeders to showcase their bulls, the Northern Connection Sale promises a unique opportunity to engage with a group of passionate and knowledgeable young breeders. Explore a wide selection of bulls covering every facet of the Simmental breed, including an exciting Charolais bull from Champs!

Terms and Conditions

TERMS - The terms of the sale are cash, cheque, e-transfer, or wire and are due at the time of sale, unless other arrangements have been made between buyer and seller prior to the sale. Transcon reserves the right to charge interest at a rate of 2% per month on overdue accounts. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should any purchaser fail to settle for their purchase Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves full power to resell the animal to the best advantage either publicly or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. Transcon Livestock Corp and/or the Auctioneer shall have the right to refuse bids from anyone who has a previous record of default in payment or who has not made proper credit clearance prior to the sale with the owner or Sale Managers.

BID - No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted.

SALES TAXES – Applicable sales taxes will be charged on semen, embryos, and trucking fees (if listed), respective to the home province of the buyer, not the seller.

DISPUTES - In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final.

PURCHASER’S RISK - Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time.

INSURANCE – Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser at the time of sale and should be insured. Animals returning to the seller’s farm must be insured.

US BUYERS – There is an additional charge (approximately $300.00 US dollars) that will be applied to each animal purchased. This covers documentation, vet inspections/testing required to export. This cost does not include transportation or brokerage which is the responsibility of the buyer.

CATTLE PICTURES AND INFORMATION PROVIDED - The images in this catalogue are believed to be accurate representations of the individual animals and the information contained in this catalogue is provided by the seller and believed to be true and accurate. Transcon Livestock Corp. and catalogue designers/producers assume no responsibility if the images and/or information as received have been altered or is inaccurate.

ANNOUNCEMENTS – All announcements from the auction block will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are therefore cautioned to pay attention to any such announcements.

CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRY - A registration/recordation certificate issued by the applicable breed association and duly transferred will be furnished to the buyer of each animal after settlement has been made. It is the responsibility of the buyer to determine the acceptance of this certificate in any other association.

SHIPPING - Assistance will be given in making shipment after the sale but no risk is assumed by the Sales Management or Seller. Expenses incurred are the responsibility of the purchaser. Purchasers are requested to furnish shipping instructions when making settlement.

BREEDERS GUARANTEE - As per applicable Canadian Breed Association Breeding Guarantee guidelines. Copies are available at the sale settlement desk to be picked up by the buyer at any time. In no event shall the seller be responsible for reimbursing more than the purchase price. EXCEPTION TO GUARANTEE - In cases where the animal is subjected to any hormonal or surgical reproduction techniques after the sale, the guarantee shall be null and void.

HEALTH - It is the buyer’s responsibility to determine health requirements for importing any animal into his province or state. Transcon Livestock Corp. assumes no responsibility for the health status of any animal in the sale.

EMBRYO & SEMEN – Full settlement must be made before release is done and shipping arrangements should be done within 30 days of the sale unless arrangements made between buyer and seller prior to the sale. Shipping arrangements and costs are the expense of the purchaser once release has been given.

ACCIDENTS - Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of buyers, neither the Sales Management, auctioneer, consignors, or Association assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property.

We kept his maternal half brother a few years ago and use him on our commercial herd with great success. The calves always come out eager to grow, and quickly pack on the muscle. 8L came off the cow at 943 pounds at the beginning of September and hasn’t stopped putting the pounds on since. 72 pound birthweight heifer bull with Calving Ease in the top 5%! Off of an attractive first calver that’s built right and off of an extremely maternally productive cow family. Lariat is a registered 75 % and he goes back to one of our oldest high performing cow families in our herd. His great granddam who was 16 when we sold her was the type of cow we kept every heifer off of. Theres over 30 cows in our herd that are related to this bull off of his dams side. Those same 30 females produced steers that averaged just under 800 pounds on October 1st. JNR Koda was purchased by Gayle Gerein in the 2023 JNR Bull Sale. Jerry expressed in Koda’s write up how highly he thought of of the JNR Armour. Koda is a moderate sized, smooth polled 2-yr-old bull. Gayle has leased her cows out to Lone Stone Farms, where the cows have all calved to JNR Koda. Birth weight of the calves is between 84-94 lbs with no issues and they are all showing excellent growth.

HHCC, Hairy Hill Cattle Company would like to thank Transcon for inviting us to be a part of the 2nd Annual Transcon Northern Connection Simmental Bull Sale.

Our business has been based around selling bulls off the farm by private treaty for the past almost 30 years. As a way to help expand our customer base and gain more exposure for our breeding program we have decided to bring some of our most elite bulls to this sale. We are located 4 miles south of Hairy Hill, Alberta at the junction of Township 550 and Rg Rd 142. The herd consists of 260 cow calf pairs, we have a full fleck program with both horned and polled genetics, we also run a Red Simmental program and a Black Simmental program. Having all of this diversity allows us to produce genetics that can fit with anyone’s herd that is in need of some Simmental bull power. We run an extensive flushing program each year that consists of flushing cows we own as well as purchasing embryos from many of the top breeders in the industry today. We implant 50 plus embryos per year. We have always strived to produce sound productive cows with good feet and legs and lots of natural muscling and ease of keeping. Bluey is a hairy rascal and has great muscle expression in his hind quarter with a calving easie of 13 and birthweight of 79lbs we feel like he would be a good heifer pen candidate.

Sully is a thick and very deep bull with lots of muscle and shape. He is always a pen favorite. He got his temperament from being a barn pet when he was born, as it was too cold to go outside. Lonestone Elvi 21J has an easy going temperament and she has tidy udders and good feet. This was her first calf but he didn’t lack any performance at weaning time.

Where to start. Weaning off at 1060 and pushing the scale down at 1500 on Jan 23 Legend has had “that look” from the time he was born. His dam produces the top performing calf every year. Her temperament is great and that shows in Legend. Her udder is one of the best in my herd and her feet are perfect. He’s sired by Copper 63J whose dam reflects those same udder and feet traits.

If you want to put some meat on your calves with a little flare, legend fits that bill and then some!

FULL FLECK - SCURRED/POLLED Lottery I think will be a great fit in the heifer pen. His dam I bought from Diamond T at the Lone Stone Invitational has been great! She’s packed with a lot of calving ease on both sides, a nice little udder straight feet and dark in colour. His sire has done well for Troy in his heifer pen so I feel Lottery will do great for calving ease. A polled heifer bull is a jackpot if you ask me!

Leto is a bull I really wanted to use myself. He is out of my favourite cow in my herd I bought from Keagan Scorgie and Brad Smith! She is amazing! She is so calm, she has tons of milk with a uniform udder and really good feet. His sire Joker 38J is really cool! A bull I bought from Virginia Ranch and has done amazing for me and I can still pet him! He has alot of length, good feet and really dark pigment. Very excited to offer this bull he is definitely one of the best I’ve raised so far!

My sole black bull in the sale is a good one. He’s long, has a nice head, good feet and tracks awesome. His dam I bought from Chitticks has done great. Raised my best heifer calf in 2022 and has continued to do the same with Lock N Load. His sire from Gilchrist Genetics has influenced a lot of the black in my herd and produced some great heifers I got to sell last December. Shoot for Lock N Load and he won’t miss.
