Welcome to Western Harvest 2024!

Team Welcomes You!

On behalf of these outstanding breeding programs, we are thrilled to welcome you to another fantastic offering at the Western Harvest.

What could be more exciting than selling ALL the Virginia Ranch-bred heifers? Doing it again; this time with a new sire group added! Harry has always emphasized the importance of strong walking herd sires, and he stayed true to that philosophy right up until the end when he purchased Double Bar D Milsap. While on display at World Congress, Milsap created a buzz and made many friends. Now, you have your first opportunity to acquire Milsap-sired females, and they certainly do not disappoint! Last year, the Synergy daughters averaged $29,000. The good news for you is that we have seven more on offer this year! This offering is incredibly strong across all sire groups, including Marquee and Voltage. This will be the last time you see this many females with a VIRS tattoo at auction in one offering. Although it may not be on the same scale, we look forward to continuing our relationship with the Satchwells.

We saw what the BLL Rumble 62H bulls were capable of this spring, and if you liked them, you’re going to love these bred heifers! John and Michelle have presented seven daughters of the $355,000 breeding masterpiece for your evaluation. Aside from one previous offering, this marks the first introduction of Rumble females to the market. But the excitement doesn’t stop there! I’ve been pestering John all summer about a couple of flush mates from the stylish foundation cow, She Devil 12S. Initially, he told me they wouldn’t leave the farm. However, with some persuasion, he agreed to sell one—but couldn’t choose between the two. So now, the choice is yours! In addition to the full bloods, we have ten red and black purebreds available. These are strong, functional females that are sure to produce quality bulls. John has truly dug deep, bringing you exceptional options in every color.

The Edwards family has been rapidly building and expanding their full blood herd over the past few years, all without sacrificing quality. Many are aware of their acquisition of the Virginia Ranch cows, but to complement this impressive addition, they also purchased Double Bar D Milsap. Additionally, they are partners with Beechinor Bros on BLL Rumble 62H—arguably two of the most sought-after sires in the breed today. They have brought eight exceptional, big, broody, and powerful heifers for your evaluation, including two outstanding polled Rumble heifers. This is an incredibly strong group of females from a great family, all carrying the exciting service to their new walking heifer bull, Crossroads Titan. Whether it’s a Rumble, Driller, War Cry, or other sires, you will be thoroughly impressed with the Skywest females on sale day.

Lyle and Pam’s bred heifers were truly impressive this summer. With their substantial size and evident power, these females stand out. Sired by Outlook, Hawk, and Guiness, they are all bred AI, with no exposure. Lot 69, selected by Glenn as the top pick among Langer’s heifers is particularly noteworthy. If you are looking for an exceptional addition to your program, don’t miss this opportunity - these heifers are poised to be true money makers.

We are excited to welcome both Joe Loomis and family from Polar Farms, as well as Tanner Madge from Madge Simmentals, to the 2024 edition of Western Harvest. These two progressive breeders are dedicated to enhancing their herds through quality, proven cow families, and both have made numerous successful purchases from this very sale. Polar Farms is contributing a fantastic addition to the red and black section with two MMWK Lambeau 64J bred heifers. 710L was my favorite heifer calf during my tour and remained a standout this summer as a bred heifer. Madge Simmentals brings a fresh perspective to Western Harvest with a selection of open heifers. Tanner is not holding anything back on his first trip to town, showcasing the very best of his replacement pen. There’s truly something for everyone in the open heifer pen!

We warmly invite you to join us at the Innisfail Auction Mart on December 7th at 1 PM for the 11th annual Western Harvest Sale. If you’re unable to attend in person, our Transcon team is here to assist you with all your purchasing needs- just give any of the cell numbers listed below a call.

We look forward to seeing you all on sale day!

Best regards, Cody

Welcome from Virginia Ranch

Virginia Ranch [Harry & Michelle; Brandon, Dani, Ryerson & Hayeson; Allison & Spencer] welcome you to the 2024 Edition of the Annual Western Harvest sale. We trust you all had a great harvest after the spring & summer growing season and have managed to enjoy the lovely fall we have had. We once again are offering our entire 2023 heifer calf crop as bred females in this year’s offering. One hundred of our bred cows have now called Skywest Simmentals home for a year now, we are still gracious and thankful for the Edwards’ investment in our life’s work last Dec 2023. We want to reiterate our sincerest gratitude to Randy & Marilyn Ward (RandMar) for the integral part they had in growing the Simmental products we have produced over the past 13 years. Randy’s love for the Simmental breed made him a fantastic partner to have @ Virginia Ranch. We have always enjoyed working with our fellow consigners John & Michelle (Beechinor Bros. Simmentals) and Pam & Lyle Langer (Langer Fleckvieh). This year we are thrilled to welcome Polar Farms (Joe & Lindsay Loomis) as well as Madge Simmentals (Tanner Madge). We feel all of us collectively have offered a tremendous group of females that are full of potential for the Simmental Seedstock industry.

We invite you all to attend on sale day; however if you can’t join us in person – please reach out to our trusted Transcon Livestock management team or join online. If you have shown an interest in our consignments via phone calls, private farm tours or have taken time to view our consignment videos – we sincerely appreciate each of these gestures. We have been Simmental breeders for 40 years and are proud of the animals we have raised that have gone on to produce for our fellow cattle enthusiasts. It warms our heart to look at many pedigrees and see the contribution Virginia animals have made on the Simmental business. We always strived to raise functional females with sound udders that are correctly built. We have a full herd health managed program. Before breeding these heifers received their modified-live vaccine of Bovishield Gold FP5, Covexin Plus. As calves they received new born calving protocol treatments as well as Bovishield Gold One Shot (twice/ boosted). This fall they have received Ivomec pour on when they went through the chute during clipping. The heifers did not come off of pasture until Oct 1st and were pictured over the Thanksgiving weekend; so the pictures you are viewing here are the heifers in their working clothes without any extra feed in them.

We have marketed our animals with the trusted team @ Transcon Livestock for many years and have appreciated their professional services they have provided to us. Innisfail Auction Mart is always a fantastic host facility and is managed with the Daines family hospitality! All heifers will have videos available to view a couple weeks before sale day. They can be found on the Transcon Livestock website. If you should have any inquiries on our consignments we hope you will reach out to us, as always we will make the time prior to sale day for you to view personally any of our consignments.

Sincerely,

Harry & Michelle Satchwell & family

Full Fleckvieh

• We are very proud of these Milsap daughters, Listen Linda will start our string, as shas earned many admirers since the day she was born.

• Her maternal sister sold to Beechinor Bros in the 2023 Western Harvest sale.

• Endless potential, would make a tremendous donor female.

• If we had not have sold most of our herd to Skywest Simmentals, Linda’s dam for sure would have been our next flush cow.

Virginia Glamor Gal 319L

Homo Polled Full Fleckvieh

• I mentioned endless potential on the last heifer, well here’s another one.

• Homo polled, and she has the body type to mate with any bull.

• Her mother Applecross Penny was in my books the top polled bred heifer to sell in Canada in the fall of 2019, and she was the high seller at the Equation sale that year

Bred March 30/2024 to Virginia Rush 010K (Reg #1382536)

Virginia All That Glitters

Polled Full Fleckvieh

• Power and Volume is a very accurate description of Glitter.

• It is very important if you are in the Purebred business to develop cow families; here is a female that will do just that.

• She has brothers working at Crossroad Farms & Cow Boss Simmentals.

• Glitters mother, Sibelle Rosel 41C, is definitely one of my favorite cows; she was sold to Levi (Cow Boss Simmentals) this fall and is being flushed as I write this footnote.

Bred March 31/2024 to Virginia Rush 010K (Reg #1382536).

Exposed March 21/2024 – May 10/2024 to Virginia Rush 010K (Reg #1382536).

Virginia Chantilly Lace 303L

Full Fleckvieh

• Another animal I am going to describe with power & volume. You have to really appreciate this big female.

• Nice udder suspension, lots of bone, a good foot under her & she is very quiet.

• Her pedigree is awesome, Chantilly Lace goes back to WCC Wells Ultrix 808U who sold for $66,000 in 2009. In today’s market $166,000 would not be unreasonable.

Bred March 22/2024 to Virginia Rush 010K (Reg #1382536)

• She expresses a lot of depth & dimension.

• Going to be a power machine.

• A lot of Daydreamer’s thickness comes from Double Bar D Notorious; a bull I never collected and kick myself for it now!

Rush is a proven heifer bull that we sold to Perepelkin Farms at the 2023 Spectrum Bull sale. They bred commercial & fullblood heifers with him and had excellent results. Ashley kept sending pictures of Rush’s calves to us and they all looked awesome. So needing a bull to comfortably breed 40 heifers too, we bought him back from them. Perepelkin Farms (Ashley) collected semen on him. He is greatly related to Lot 1.

We had more phone calls on this awesome bull than any other bull; 80lb birthweight, weaning wt on Aug 30th of 890 lbs (with No Creep) and all from a 1st calving heifer. He also had an amazing Calving Ease EPD of 14.9, so we decided to breed him to a few heifers. Welcome from Beechinor Bros. Simmentals

Michelle, Kyler, Austin, Easton, Kaidynce and I would like to welcome you to the 11th Annual Western Harvest Heifer Sale. What a wonderful time to be in the beef indusrty. This past year we have seen record breaking price in all classes of cattle. Heck it’s even fun taking the cull cow to town! Kyler, Easton and Austin once again continue to keep their mother busy by travelling from rink to rink. Easton and Austin had a successful summer of ball and Easton made the senior boys Volleyball team. Kyler keeps growing up in front of our eyes and has become very helpful around the farm! This all while he starts planning for life outside of high school…... We also need to extend a big thank you to our second family, our hired people, your time and effort doesn’t go unnoticed and we couldn’t do what we do without you!!

Here at Beechinor Bros Simmentals our goal is to produce a female that will be productive while maintaining a strong udder, correct structure and calm temperament. The heifers on offer are out of a full health program and were given Express FP 10 along with Covexin Plus prior to breeding. By sale day they will be fully covered with Scour Bos and will have had both rounds.

The heifers came home off pasture towards the middle of September and have been on a TMR. We strive to be sure that these heifers are not over conditioned as we believe this harms their future production abilities. This years group is a wide sampling of the many different herd bulls we make use of and of course the first offering of the Rumble females!!

Again, we would like to take a moment to Thank everyone on the Transcon Team. From the guys at the sale to the gals in the office we know that they are professionally looking after all the fine details and making sure I’m on track. We would also like to Thank everyone that supports our program and hope that your purchases do nothing but make you profitable.

If you have any inquiries about the offering, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us or the Transcon Team. We would love to answer your questions and have a visit. To everyone that has inquired or purchased animals in the past we truly appreciate your support. If you are passing by the farm or near Innisfail prior to sale day, please stop in. If you are unable to see the animals in person there will be videos available on the Transcon website a couple weeks prior to the sale for your veiwing pleasure.

Looking forward to seeing everyone, John & Michelle Beechinor

I once had a wise man tell me that when you find the right bull with everything you are looking for there will be no limit on how much you can spend…. boy was he right…. Rumble is a bull that we knew had to find his way into our program the second we saw him. Of course, with a $355,000 price tag it added a bit of stress. Once these first calves started hitting the ground, we knew it was the right decision. As that first summer progressed his offspring pulled to the top of both the bull and replacement heifer pens. At weaning time many of his sons broke the 900lbs mark. Its early to say but we believe that Rumble could very well have the biggest influence on our herd from this point forward. His sons are impressive to say the least and his daughters have that brood cow look. In this first calf crop we crossed him with several different ‘types’ of cows and he surprised us by how consistent he was able to make them. These consistent traits include deep swing ribs, hair, meat, red colouring, pigmentation and performance. All while making a good majority of them polled from horned cows! Here is your chance to own a piece of a very bright future!

• I shouldn’t be letting this female leave the farm!!

• Not only does she stem from what I consider to be our strong cow family in the red division but she is the highlight of our 2023 black heifer calves

• Make note of her 922lbs wean weight.

• To make sure it wasn’t a fluke, I bred her dam, 794E, back the same way and she weaned off our heaviest bull calf this year at 982lbs

• We have retained every heifer 794E has had and that is about the only reason I have for letting you have a chance to own this one

• Captain Blaze is a bull we are very fond of, when we laid eyes on him year ago, not only did we buy a semen package but we bought a son……. Red Wolf!!

• Here is your chance to step into a very strong cow family that has nearly 20 close connections to cows in our herd alone.

• Make note that our high selling red female in last year’s Western Harvest came from this same cow family.

• Make a special note that she is carrying a HEIFER calf!!!! Start your cow family today!!

• Homo Polled, Hetero Black

• The future is bright on this one!!

Welcome from Skywest Simmentals

From all of us here at Skywest Simmentals we welcome you to the 11th annual Western Harvest Sale. We hope everyone had a successful summer stockpiling the feed for another winter and enjoying the success that these calves are having in the cattle market this year. Lots to be excited about in this industry with the cow/calf operations getting paid for all their hard work and also seeing some young cattle men and women getting into the business.

With that being said we are excited to be having Polar Farms and the Loomis Family from Dawson Creek, BC joining the sale as well as Tanner Madge with Madge Simmentals from the Hanna area. These young progressive breeders have jumped right into the purebred business by acquiring some of the top genetics to build on which will be on display here in Innisfail.

The daily grind on the farm continued this summer since acquiring a large portion of the Virginia Ranch herd. We spent a lot of time constructing the newly built and bigger heifer pens and handling facility as well as drill another water well and additional waterers for breeding pens. The upgrades never end around here but that’s ok as it’s a sign that the cows are doing the job and allowing us to grow the herd in the right direction.

This year on offer we will have a couple of powerful Rumble heifers to enter the Western Harvest for the first time, as well as a selection of War Cry, Driller, Landmark and a broody Swagger daughter to top it off all bred to our newly acquired polled calving ease bull “Titan” coming from Crossroad Farms.

We would also like to thank all the new and repeat visitors that took the time to tour the Skywest herd in July during the World Simmental Conference. It truly shows us why the Fleckvieh breed is incredible to be a part of by the people that are in it. A lot of new friendships made over the week with stories being shared and even a few laughs along the way

Please stop by for a visit and a tour of the cattle this fall if you’re in the area or else we will see everyone in early December in Innisfail.

The Edwards Family

Non-Dilutor

This is a heifer that we liked more and more every time we seen her in the pasture. She started out as a smaller heifer from our calving ease bull War Cry on a young productive Duramax cow that now resides at Polar Farms in BC. As the bred heifers developed this summer she slowly rose to the top of the pen and now could be one of the most powerful heifers in the group. The war cry progeny come with tons of depth and middle, excellent disposition and are proving to be great mother cows by all reports of the owners of past sellers. “Lory” is from a beautiful first calf heifer that we had purchased from Virginia Ranch at this very sale. 161J had a lot of friends on sale day and she has proved her worth with her first calf and an excellent heifer calf at her side this year as well. “Lory” is a powerful big broody “War cry” heifer yet smooth and angular and the more you analyze her the harder she is to fault anywhere. We can’t say enough good things about the War Cry heifers other than we wish we had a lot more of them. Easy doing cattle that just go to work and can be bred any way you like.

He has not only met but also exceeded the lofty expectations with his first bull crop last spring and now with the heifers coming into production. “Libby” is a female that combines style, pedigree and performance along with polled package. These Rumble heifers are going to make broody cows one day that we all strive to have a herd full of. You may also recognize “Libby” as she was on full display at the World Simmental Congress hosted at Clearwater Simmentals.

“Litia” is a heifer that incorporates a different twist in bloodlines being sired by “Rumble” himself and out of Virginia Zalinka who is one of the oldest matrons on the farm who just in fact is a direct daughter of “Champs Romano”. If Litia is anything like her dam she will last for ever and never show her age. At the age of 12 she looked like a 4year old with still a perfect udder. This smooth polled daughter has the muscling, length while setting up an excellent udder that we are consistently seeing in the Rumble offspring and being bred to “Titan” could be a home run for the new owners.

“Shawna” is another smooth polled “Driller” daughter that we really appreciate coming from an exceptional young Synergy daughter. A name that you should be familiar with, as Synergy has made waves in this sale the last couple of years from the Virginia Ranch Program. “ Shawna” is a more moderate built female with nice depth, good feet and should have a beautiful udder. She has a really nice polled full sibling in the replacement pen that will probably not leave the farm. Shawna is mated to our new polled calving ease bull “Crossroad Titan” that will make for an exciting first calf.

All summer long “Lena” was at the front end of the power group of heifers and she never slowed down. She really has turned into quite a heifer with her dark pigment, tons of hip and middle and can walk with the best of them. We think “Lena” will have a lot of friends on sale day and as much as it hurts to sell her, you have to bring the good ones to town as well.

As well will notice that she has the “Romano” bloodline which if you have spent anytime in the fleckvieh business you will know what that name has done for the breed. Welcome from Langer Fleckvieh Simmentals

Welcome to the 11th Annual Transcon’s Western Harvest Simmental female sale. We would like to start off by saying “Thank-You” for showing an interest and supporting our program throughout the years.

This year we are bringing six heifers we are very proud of. They are very sound females both genetically and physically and out of great mama cows. All the heifers are AI’d to Polled calving ease herd sires (with no exposures). We believe these matings will create some very exciting calves for their new owners. All the heifers are on full herd health and will have their scour guard shots before sale day. Heifers are available for viewing at any time at the farm.

We would also like to extend a warm welcome to Madge Simmentals and Polar Farms to the Harvest group.

Hope to see you all sale day !!!

Welcome from Polar Farms

Hello and welcome from Polar Farms (Joe,Lindsay,Riley and Kendal Loomis). First off we are excited and extremely grateful to be invited into the Western Harvest Simmental Female Sale. We are a small ranch located15km Northwest of Dawson Creek BC, raising red, black and fullblood simmental. This being our first year in this sale, and our first year ever selling breds, we decided to pick 2 straight out of our red/black keeper pen. Our full blood side is still too new to bring breds to town but we are building some exceptional girls for next year. Over the last 6 years we have been busy building our registered herd, acquiring proven genetics from other established breeders.

We are passionate about our cattle and enjoy visiting old, new and potential customers, so if you have any questions about our program or our cattle, give us a call or stop by for a tour

Welcome from Madge Simmentals

Welcome to the 11th annual Western Harvest Sale! What a time to be in the cattle business, with another fall of strong markets and big rewards for the hard working cattlemen and women in the industry

I feel very humbled to be able to join this very prestigious sale, to sell beside fellow breeders I’ve grown a large respect for since I started this journey almost a decade ago.

I truly feel like this year’s set of heifers has a bit of something for everyone. Horned, Polled and Scurred females all built to work and last. I’ve built the herd on four key values; feet, udders, temperament, and easy fleshing/keeping. I do believe that these six females should follow suit to this and work in any operation. It’s hard to see them go, but the most rewarding part is seeing these females go out there and work.

Huge thank you to my bidders and buyers in the 2023/2024 season. None of this would be possible if it wasn’t for all the amazing people we can call family and friends in this truly incredible business.

I look forward to visiting and catching up with you all prior to and on sale day. If you have any questions or would like to view the heifers beforehand please don’t hesitate to call or reach out to me.

With much Gratitude:

Tanner

Madge Ms Merlot 31M

As the Fleckvieh business tends to lead more into a polled basis, I thought it wouldn’t hurt to have a powerful horned heifer in the mix. 31M is big, broody, dark red and marked to be the full meal deal. The Merlot line of cows have been very solid, having a large influence in our 2023 sale pen last year. Merlot is a granddaughter to BLL Creed 950G that walks at Anchor D Simmentals, Kasino the son of Creed is shaping up to be a very influential sire here at Madge Simmentals. Breed her homo polled, polled or to horned genetics, either way I know this female has bull maker written all over her.

Madge Ms Dakota 16M

16M is complete from top to bottom. Stemming from the 12R cow family and being sired by the late Zam bull, this heifer has a lot of promise! Her maternal sister sold last year in my sale to Black Gold Simmentals, the dam to this heifer is proving herself more and more every year. Feminine, loose hided and coated up to withstand our frigid Alberta temperatures. Don’t let the little extra chrome scare you, this cow family always out produces.

You may be thinking to yourself that this female looks very familiar, and you’re not wrong. 61M’s full sister sold in Pasture Treasures in 2022 to Beechinor Bros. These Cannon calves are worth their weight in gold, with the first set of Cannon sons selling this past spring averaging $8036 off farm, with the high seller going for $11,500. Her paternal sister sold last fall for $12,500 to JNR Farms. Freida is a very soft made eye appealing heifer. Her mother 832F came from Harry and Michelle and just like all those Virginia females she has a solid foot and picture perfect udder. 61M is destined to drop a great udder and feet that’ll withhold all environments. My loss is you gain, this is a calf that should be staying home.

ANCHOR D ZAM

SIBELLE

Here’s a very unique fullblood heifer, being almost solid red. 42M also stems from the 12R cow family, being a granddaughter to 12R herself. Rocky’s dam is a cow with lots of spine, great middle and an udder that needs no tweaking. When Harry was out for a tour this summer, he really admired how the dam to this heifer matured saying “she may be better then 12R herself”. The proof is in the pudding, a unique color pattern with a genetic background that’ll work. Long, eye appealing, and one I can’t wait to show you on sale day.

Here is a ¾ sib to our lead off heifer. Merlot is a scurred female that originally was meant to stay at home, after watching her continue to mature into a very powerful female I knew she had to head west for sale day. A female from the Merlot cow family. The maternal sister to this heifer sold in 2023 in my sale to Gary Portiek. 44M’s picture does her no justice, she’s quiet as a dog and doesn’t like picking her head up. Take note of her on sale day and keep an eye out for her video. These Merlot females have it going on.

If you’ve followed along with my journey of selling heifer calves the last 3 years, I’m sure you would have seen or heard the Anchor D Elga cows name each and every year. Having daughters working in the herds of Mappin Simmentals, and Millington Ranch. This will be the last daughter off the old Elga cow, I really do think she went out with a bang on this one. Just like her sisters before, I’m going to use the same saying “Round, Sound, and low to the Ground”. Elga is most likely carrying more inches in the middle than height, she is one that can look at feed and get fat. Easy fleshing, strong maternal traits, and built to maintain in any conditions. We are very pleased with the first calf crop off of our LFE BS LEWIS 3200J bull, they’re born easy and grow like weeds! Black blaze with a swak of potential, halter break her and take her on the road.
