Farewell from our Subregion C International Trustee Hey there, WUM Circle K’ers! Remember me? You can’t get rid of me that easily. For those of you I wasn’t fortunate enough to meet at the Wisconsin-Upper Michigan 2018 District Convention, my name is Trevor Nicholas, and I had the honor of serving as the CKI Subregion C International Trustee for the 2018-19 service year. As Trustee, I worked very closely with Immediate-Past Governor Brandon and the rest of the Sub C Govs, as well as meet and help train this year’s Governor, Zoey Colglazier, as she transitioned into such an amazing role. The Circle K International Convention (CKIx) has recently come to a close, and with it, so has my term as Trustee. Looking back on all that I was able to see and do throughout the year, I can say that holding this position was one of the most rewarding experiences of my entire life. Why? Simply put, it allowed me to meet WUMderful people like you! (I hate that pun, but I figured I had to do it… Haha!)

Seeing the moving parts of the Circle K International organization from such a wide perspective, and getting to see the dreams and goals of individual members, clubs, and districts from around the country come to life has truly been mind-blowing. Meeting such passionate individuals as the WUM Circle K community, watching students slowly transform into confident leaders, and seeing the root of Circle K International – SERVICE! – thrive in countless different ways has left me so happy for the future of CKI. I can’t wait to see what Zoey and the rest of the WUM 2018-19 District Board accomplishes, and I look forward to hearing stories of all the service projects being done on each and every one of your campuses! We still have a lot of work to do. Invite as MANY people as possible to join your efforts by first building a relationship with those people – a real friendship – then showing them the joys of service and CKI. Then, double down on your efforts to help the community in new ways. Never be satisfied. Finally, strive to lead in whatever capacity you can. Challenge yourself always! Good luck with the future, Wisconsin-Upper Michigan! If you ever need anything, feel free to call me! (317) 601-0948, or trevornicholas on Snapchat! Thanks again!
-Trevor

COMING TOGETHER:
CKIx RECAP
CKIx2018 took place in Chicago this summer where members, club officers, district officers, and international officers all convene to elect the new international board, vote on new amendments, attend workshops to help better their home clubs and districts, and to also do service on a huge scale. One of the many things that I found useful from the workshops and also the keynote speaker was the ideas about recruitment. The phrase "People don't join clubs, they join people," kept coming up. If you think of the heavily active people in your your club, who are they to you? Most likely they are some of your best friends or roommates. International convention reminded me that you need to know the person much earlier than when you invite them to a club meeting. That being said, I hope you all take that advise as well as remember your training from MERP when tabling season comes around.

CKIx in Chicago overall left me with a bigger family in our organization. Everything from the recruitment training, the Day of Service, and discussions on service ideas with people from all around the world helped me remember how amazing our organization truly is as a whole. No matter what position you are in CKI there is something to learn or a friend to meet at CKIx. I hope to see more of WUM at CKIx2019 in Orlando. By Bobby King

CAMP UPDATE:
BAY CLIFF HEALTH CAMP Many of you are familiar with Camp Wawbeek, the Easter Seals camp that Kiwanis and Circle K have worked with for decades. But did you know that we also work with Bay Cliff Health Camp up in Big Bay, Michigan? A former dairy farm, Bay Cliff was converted into a wellness and respite camp for kids and adults with disabilities in 1934 by Dr. Goldie Corneliuson and Miss Elba Morse. Bay Cliff hosts a seven week long summer program for campers, as well as week long programs for adults, and activities in the winter as well. In July, Bay Cliff invited members of Circle K to join them on their Open House weekend for tours of camp. Among the highlights were tours of their brand new gym and rec center, generously donated by the Marietti family, and lunch with the campers, where we were welcomed with an enthusiastic rendition of ‘Welcome to Bay Cliff Camp’. The event ended with a program by the campers about what Bay Cliff means to them—a place to grow, have fun, and make friends. By Zoey Colglazier

CLUB HIGHLIGHTS: MSOE Written by Daniel Szetu Gomez
MSOE Circle K club had lots of fun by participating in many service events throughout the school year. One of our last events was at the Ronald McDonald House. We made our famous and delicious French toast for families on Mother’s Day.
Finally, we will congratulate Katie Riel for her amazing four years of service. She truly loves to serve. Even though she personally could not get everything she could ask for, she believes that there are people worse off the she was, and she likes the idea of helping them out. During her freshman year she won the Outstanding New Member award and in her sophomore year she won the Outstanding Secretary award. This past year she was awarded a brand new award! It was the Outstanding Service to Membership award. Many of our members, one of our former members, and our advisor also received awards:
Matthew Eisenschenk – Outstanding Treasurer. Michael Prochaska – Outstanding Alumni. Lena Scheiengraber – Outstanding Faculty Advisor. Pamela Lieberman – Outstanding Club Member. In May of this year, Katie was recognized one more time with MSOE’s Daniel E. Sahs Memorial Award for service. Over the course of her four-year Circle K career, she accumulated about 315 hours of service.

Letter from the Editor Cowabunga! Surf ’s up, Circle K! Ok, maybe not all of us are spending our summer vacation at the beach (I’m certainly not) but I do hope that you are at least enjoying the short reprieve from classes and regular Circle K meetings. These warm months are great for relaxing, going outside, and getting some service done! …Wait, what? That’s right: service! If you’re finding yourself with extra free time this summer while you’re waiting for classes to start back up, consider donating your time to a good cause. I’m sure your club would really appreciate the bonus service hours it will get to record. This is the second issue of the Circle of Sharing that I’ve had the pleasure to publish for all of you in the WUM District. Of course, just like last issue I could not have done it without the help of everybody who wrote articles and submitted other materials. Thank you to everybody who contributed to making this issue fantastic! And, of course, if you would like to contribute to a future issue please feel free to email me! Keep an eye out for the back-to-school issue of the Circle of Sharing, arriving at your inbox in September. It’s sure to be the best issue yet! Yours in Service,
Luke Muller
