To be or not to be green? That should not be question these days. Going green is an idea that never should always be in our consciousness. Thing is it’s so easy to take them for granted. That is why it is always necessary to remind ourselves that we need to increasingly be, do, and live green on a day-to-day basis. This issue, Lookeast hopes to do its humble share in making this world really a green planet by at least raising continuing awareness about the subject.

We have asked our writers and contributors to round up ideas on “going green” and here are some of what they turned in: anchor features on “The Benefits of Going Green (page 14),” “Green Retreats: Some of Thailand's best eco-resorts (page 18),” “Get Wild: Outdoor adventure in Thailand (page 54),” and "Being and Thai (page 56)." Of course, even the stories on our Regular Sections: Mini-Guide “Kanchanaburi (page 22),” “Biking in Koh Kred (page 24,” Journal –“Koh Phangan (page 26) – among others -- weave a green thread around them. Even the Thai crafts fair story on page 52 dwells on a sustainable activity, and the Wine & Dine focus on Quince (page 60) has something green to it. Elsewhere, we have gathered a cornucopia of stories and features that you should find interesting, not the least the interviews in our personality sections from page 40 to 48, and everything you have come to expect from us. We have CEO Philip Baechtold of Cadeux Jewelry, the Sukosol clan (headed by the inimitable jazz diva Kamala Sukosol), and Antje Sahling and Jeerasak Loturit, general managers of Crowne Plaza Phuket Panwa Resort and GLOW Pratunam Bangkok, respectively. We wish we could do more in greening the world and I know most people do although there's so much hurdle around to let us go the full nine yards. But I think we will all get there, and the future generation will be more careful than maybe our elders or us in what they do that harm the planet. We just hope that in even in a small way, somewhere along the way, we will have contributed to the global efforts to make this world a greener, better place to live for all of us.
