STACEY MORRISON The Hits WILHELMINA SHRIMPTON Newshub When I was younger I used d to like the idea of an extravagant date, but now it’s the simple things that I appreciate the most. As long as I’m with the one I love, my husband Mike, and have his undivided attention, then I’m happy. Fish and chips on the beach with a bottle of wine and a gorgeous sunset really is my idea of perfection. Valentine’s Day is so close to our wedding anniversary that we’ll probably celebrate both together and have lunch at the same place where we exchanged our vows on Waiheke Island.
Vl Valentine’s ’ car b ame a focus at our school, so I made one and gave it to a boy I liked. I think it was because he was a really fast runner. He had a predictable young boy reaction – ew yuck! With three kids and busy lives, I’m just grateful for any date night. This year my husband Scotty and I will probably do what we did at Christmas, making a rule that we wouldn’t buy presents but write something to each other.

ISSUE MATTY McLEAN Breakfast My partn partner t er R Ryan yan and d my anniversary falls a couple of days before Valentine’s Day, so we tend to just combine the two. But the week of our first anniversary I happened to be travelling around the country for Breakfast, so Ryan and I couldn’t be together. Unbeknownst to me, Ryan had been liaising with my producer, flew to the South Island, hired a rental car and drove to Hanmer Springs to be with me. He turned up to our hotel with flowers and took me out for dinner, and it was honestly the most overwhelming gesture anyone had ever made for me. He is an absolute keeper!

HAYLEY SPRO OULL Have You Be Been Paying Attention? My fi M firstt V Valentine l ti ’s card d was to a boy on the Eastbourne bus to town when I was 13. He had shaggy hair and made me very nervous. I slipped him a note saying “I lyke u.” I think he asked for my number and then never texted me. My perfect date is a mattress on the floor in the lounge with movies and wine in my own house. This year I’ll be away at a hen’s do – it’s just another day!
