I was at the Lordco in north Nanaimo yesterday, 6580 Island Hwy N

Unit A. I went in to pick up a new battery for my car as it had died that morning. I made it to Lordco after work and was served by Isiah. I went back out to my car after purchasing the battery and my car wouldnt start, even after having the battery on a charge all day. I tried using my road side assistance for help, but after multiple dropped calls and a wait of almost an hour for help I decided to go back into Lordco to see if someone could boost me. There were a few people working, none seemed able to help and then Isaiah said 'did you just buy your battery' I said 'yes' and he said I will come install it for you. Took him less then 10 mins. I am so thankful he stepped up to help me, and I would like it to be passed on to his mangers that they have a wonderful employee. Employees like Isiah should be recognized for their excellent service.

Good day, I just wanted to share how happy I was with the Edmonton store I had landed in Edmonton and grabbed our new truck, and it needed some supplies so I could move some stuff between our Alberta sites.I walked into the big clean organized store loaded with parts (I wish Campbell River store was like this) and grabbed the supplies I needed Taranjot behind the counter was very happy friendly acknowledged me before I was fully inside and helped me get the supplies I needed. It kind of reminded me of the old days of the original Langley store and machine shop. Thank you very much for the company you are and hiring a respectful and helpful employee like Taranjot.

INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY

August 12th is International Youth Day! International Youth Day was created to recognize the effect young people have on education, opportunities, and community development. This event also raises awareness for those in need all over the world and tackles issues such as equality and education for all youth.

State of the World’s Youth

There are currently 1.2 billion young people between the ages of 15 and 24, which are classified as the world’s youth. This demographic accounts for 16% of the current global population and is expected to grow even more over the next 5 years. This group of youth are the future of the job market and will shape communities all over the world. This is why it is so important to foster youth through equal opportunity and education. Giving all youth access to basics such as food, water, shelter, healthcare, and education can lead to a better world for all. The United Nations has set goals such as quality education, which would enable youth to be agents of change. Equal and quality education will empower today’s youth to fulfill their potential and improve their workplaces and communities, ensuring a better future for all. The United Nations also highlighted the influence that the youth population has on the UN’S Sustainable Development Goals, with up to 70% of change coming from the world’s youth. As youth are entering and solidifying their place in the workforce, they have the ability to be changemakers. Encourage the youths in your life to take charge of what they want to see in the world.

International Youth Day 2024

This year on International Youth Day, there is a focus on giving youth the proper tools, knowledge and skills to live and work in the future. Today’s youth will shape the future for many of us, so it is important that we give them our attention now. Giving youth access to education and support can help us build a more prosperous future.

What Can You Do?

While giving all youth access to education, support, and basic needs isn’t doable alone, there are still things that you can do to ensure a bright future for our youth!

1. Attend an International Youth Day event. There are plenty of International Youth Day events such as concerts, sporting events, and online showcases promoting young people’s achievements. Come out and support your local youth!

2. Help out in your community. Education can come from anywhere. Create youth learning opportunities by volunteering for mentorship programs or clubs.

3. Have conversations at home. Talking to youth in your family about big topics such as equality and sustainability encourages conversations with others and builds strong communities.

This International Youth Day, focus on educating and listening to the youth in your life! Aim to understand and inspire!

Celebrating Excellence in Safety

A Message from OHS

An essential component of guaranteeing health and safety in British Columbia workplaces is through WorkSafeBC inspections. By which a WS prevention officer may visit without prior notice to inspect our facilities and evaluate the safe work practices that should be in accordance with the Workers Compensation Act and the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Regulation.

WorkSafeBC inspectional approach

WorkSafeBC prevention officers will use a risk-based strategy for inspections to make sure the major hazards are effectively handled. Employers and employees must recognize risks, assess hazards, and put in place the proper controls specific to the on-site operations. Furthermore, it focuses on employers making sure that workers are informed about these activities and that they are overseen by means of fundamental occupational health and safety protocols, including training, supervision, incident investigations, worksite inspections, and (if relevant) joint health and safety committees that are strong and efficient.

It is a proud moment to share wonderful achievement with all of you. Just recently, WorkSafeBC conducted inspections at our two stores with outstanding results. Store#14 and Store #15 have successfully completed the WS inspection with positive compliance and zero violations.
