Kudos Jaime Conran - #110 Lake Cowichan Just wanted to give out a big shout to Jamie Conran who helped me out a few weekends back when I had lost my oil filler cap like an idiot. They didn’t have the part I needed in stock but Jamie found a solution to get me up and running so I could at least get back home without a worry! Thanks again! -Mitch
Lukas Kaczmarski - #39 West Kelowna Luke was incredibly helpful with giving me all the information I need about my brake pads, but also ran me through a ton of useful "what if" scenarios without me even having to ask. Outstanding customer service. Luke was awesome. Thanks again! -Chris V
Randy Durocher - #64 Revelstoke I shopped today at your branch in Revelstoke BC. I was lucky to be served by Randy Durocher. He was knowledgeable , helpful and went out of his way to make sure I received the right product. He even went outside into poor weather to check the make of my car to ensure it was what I needed, and then helped me (I am 81 years old!!) to understand how to use the product correctly. I was more than “blown away”! My day had started badly, but I must say, encountering someone who likes his job, is enthusiastic and more than helpful made a huge difference to me. You should consider yourselves lucky to have such quality people working for you, and this man deserves to be recognized and put in a position where he can pass on his values and quality of care and service to an even wider audience. I am most impressed, and , thanks to him, Lordco will be my go-to store for all my future automotive needs. With thanks, -Audrey N Kelly
Vincent Lum - #33 Vancouver This past Wednesday night I had an incredible experience at the 882 E Cordova St. Lordco store in Vancouver. A very honest, knowledgeable & helpful staff member by the name of Vince not only saved me hundreds of dollars, but also took the time to discuss and question the problems I was having with my car. I told him the engine is idling rough and that I needed to buy new plugs & coils. After asking me a few questions about the car, he narrowed down the possible causes & he concluded it wasn't being caused by bad plugs or coils. Vince advised me that the reason my engine was idling rough was most likely due to a dirty throttle body. Vince then walked over to the aisles and grabbed a can of carb cleaner off the shelf & advised me to try this first. Vince was right. After I cleaned the throttle body & put everything back together, I turned the key and it idled smoothly. I've been to many many parts stores over the years and I've never received the level of service I received from Vince. I was expecting little help or attention when I first walked in because that's usually what I get when I walk into other parts stores. Vince took the time to discuss, troubleshoot & he physically went and grabbed it off the shelf for me. That level of service is hard to find. That's why I feel obliged to give praise. From this point forward I will never go anywhere else for parts! What a great feeling to know there are still honest people out there who are willing to help. My sincerest thank you to Vince,

HEALTH & WELLNESS CORNER
DECEMBER AWARENESS
Women’s Brain Health Day
December 2nd is Women’s Brain Health Day! This December, let’s come together to learn about brain function, brain health, and lifestyle changes that can help protect women from brain-aging disorders. This day is all about promoting education, research, and support for brain disorders that disproportionately affect women. Why Focus on Women’s Brain Health? Women’s brain health is historically underfunded and under-researched. In fact, brain disorder diagnostics, prevention, medication, and treatment in females are currently based on research in males. This has proved to be ineffective at preventing brain disorders and cognitive decline in women when compared to men, which is why it’s so important to raise awareness for women’s brain health. Brain disorders such as Alzheimer’s and Dementia affect women at a much higher rate, with around 70% of Alzheimer’s cases being women. In the research that has been done on women’s brain health, it was found that up to 40% of cases of dementia may be preventable with the right lifestyle. These statistics cannot be ignored, so a quick guide filled with preventative measures is included below. 6 Pillars of Brain Health These preventative lifestyle choices can reduce your risk of cognitive impairment and keep your brain functioning at its best! 1. Mental stimulation. Exercise your brain like it’s a muscle. Keep learning new things to create new neuropathways so that when one part of your pathway starts to age, the new pathways take over. Learning a new skill, instrument, or language is a great way to make new connections and keep your brain active. The more complex the activity, the better it is for your brain. 2. Exercise. Exercise expands the size of the hippocampus – the part of the brain involved in learning and memory. Exercise can reduce the risk of cognitive impairment by up to 36%. Doing just 10 minutes of aerobic activity per day improves problem-solving skills and focus. 3. Nutrition. Eating a low sodium diet full of omega-3 fatty acids and B vitamins such as fish, fruits, vegetables, olive oil, and nuts helps to protect your brain from cognitive decline. 4. Social engagement. Spending time with friends and family can reduce stress and isolation, leading to a happier, healthier brain. It was found that women who have daily social engagement reduce their risk of dementia by 50%. 5. Sleep. Sleep is extremely important to women’s brain health. Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep per night to reduce the risk of brain disorders and cognitive decline. 6. Stress reduction. Chronic or prolonged stress releases cortisol into your body, which can cause premature damage to your brain. Yoga or any type of mindful movement can help reduce and manage stress while keeping you active. There is evidence that lifestyle choices can help women modify their risk and positively influence their brain health. However, many women don’t know about the affects that these choices can have on their brain, or how to change their lifestyle. To lean more, find support, donate to research, and access resources to share about women’s brain health, visit https://womensbrainhealth.org/. Spread knowledge and support this December 2nd by joining Women’s Brain Health Day!
